I'm actually so fascinated by this scene, because is shows so clearly who Tinn and Gun are and how they operate.

They're both deeply uncomfortable from the start.

Gun's approach is to then put on a cheerful persona, learned by not wanting his mother to worry or feel troubled about him. I think it's partially in the hopes that it will ease Tinn's discomfort and partially because he genuinely doesn't know how else to be in these situations.

But this is not what Tinn wants or needs. He goes along with it though, because he cares so deeply for Gun and doesn't want to let go of what they do have. It might also be his resolve, after feeling so rejected and heartbroken the day before, that he must accept their situation for what it is. These are his first attempts of 'getting over' Gun.

The scene they have to act out then becomes something completely different for the both of them. For Tinn it's a cruel reminder of what he thinks might never be, and painful because this is not how he had envisioned any form of intimacy with Gun to go. It's fake. And it's certainly not what friends do, so how could Gun do any of this after just having declared so loudly that that's all they are?

But for Gun this is the first time he can 'safely' explore all these feelings he's been having! He stated several times before how scared he was for the truth. For the real deal. For the reality of Tinn liking him, and him liking Tinn back. For the possibility of him being wrong and misinterpreting everything. Scared of the loss that comes with love, scared of the rejection.

But within this make-believe setting he gets to feel what it would be like to kiss Tinn's cheek. He went off script for it and everything! He really grabs the opportunity to experience what a 'more than friends' dynamic with Tinn would be like, without the consequences of having to explicitly ask him if he wants to be more. Or having to confess that that's what he wants, even to himself.

And then he does admit he likes it! But of course there actually are consequences, because for Tinn this experience was awful. What felt safe for one felt painful for the other...

So Tinn breaks, and Gun's bubble bursts... But they finally talk! Them acting for the MV needed to happen for both of them to take the next step. For Tinn to truly realise that honesty and sincerity are the only way forward for him. And for Gun to realise what it is he feels and wants and to meet Tinn there and to put his trust in them.

Tinn's confession comes so easily now. No more fear or hesitation. In some ways probably because he has already accepted that they'll never be together. But then Gun confesses too! So reminiscent of Time's confession in 2gether!

Plus the next line "Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to act like I was your friend today?" saying that pretending to be 'just friends' was hard, but acting like they were more than that came easy!

And so, if it's impossible to pretend to be friends, why force it?

And they are even now! On even ground, equal footing, uncharted territory for both of them. And they'll get to explore all of this together!
