I saw the D&D movie for the first time last night, and it was actually pretty good, would rate it a solid 9/10. Most jokes landed, the party dynamics are on point and it includes Owlbears. What more could a guy want?

Just to note, ther are lots of heavy topics either touched on or discussed in the story. I read it kn Royal Road, and the author had a spoiler tag at the start of every chapter discussing what themes the chapter had.

'Bioshifter' by Thundermoo has this sort of vibe, would definitely recommend.

it says something a little sad about the state of the world that just reading a story is not enough escapism for people and so we have multimillion dollar industries built around exhaustively recreating fictional locations so that harry potter fans can go to 'the wizarding world' and star wars fans can go to 'galaxy's edge' and stephen king fans can go to 'maine'

Whenever humans appear in fantasy or science fiction we are usually the boring default who aren’t strong or fast or magical and the writer has to make something up to make us interesting but we already have a special ability: our stamina.

We can go forever compared to most other animals on earth. When you look it up you’ll mostly find stuff about running but our ability to walk and walk and walk is insane too. We are not the only creature with this ability but we are among the top.

I used to go on walks with my housemate and sometimes her cat would join us. He’d start huffing and puffing halfway through the walk and she’d joke about how out of shape he was but in reality cats just aren’t made for long continuous walking. They hide and attack in quick bursts. Heck I’d sometimes go on walks that turned out to be too long for my dogs despite dogs being endurance hunters like us.

So I think we deserve more acknowledgment for our stamina and endurance in otherworldly settings. We are the race that can keep going long after our party had to sit down and take a breather.

Teenager here, literally the only people I know who think kink doesn’t belong at pride are the people who don’t even go to pride. It’s my cishet friends, and it’s their cishet parents. Every single queer person I’ve met (teen or not), when asked, have all been like “people can do whatever they want, I literally don’t care.”

Also, in my experience, the people in kinkwear and at the kinkshops are literally the nicest people there. A leatherpuppy dropped his mlm flag last time I was at pride and barked and waved at me when I gave it back.

listen it's also definitely some very annoying queer adults who are scared of sex and want to make it everyone else's problem, but I hope you never meet them. I think there is definitely like... a common thread in a lack of experience/understanding of what pride actually entails for most people who get worked up about the prospect of kink showing up there, though. among the queer adults who object to, many of them bring up the "safety" of teens and children and I think it's safe to say that very few of them regularly interact with teens or children or have any realistic idea of what young people actually know and can handle knowing about sex. in my most recent class I had fifth graders writing erotica about the duolingo owl and making jokes about people cumming on each other's faces; they're not going to be scandalized by the sight of someone in leather or a dildo for sale.
