Murder By Death / Ten Little Indians

Murder by Death / Ten little Indians

If you are, like me, a big fan of the Robert Moore Film Murder By Death (1976) you should have a look at Ten little Indians (1965), made after the Agatha Christie novel And Then There Were None (it's the US title, i won't write the original title, google it if you want to).

One is a testament to its time, which is also reflected in the original English title. Well made but with a lot of things, that you would criticize today. (And I'm sure, there were some critics back in the day)

Murder By Death / Ten Little Indians

The other is a parody of exactly this time and the style of these kind of crime stories. Ridiculous, a lot of humor and at the end, nothing makes sense (on purpose, believe me, the film itself explains this pretty well)

Murder By Death / Ten Little Indians

Today both films would no longer work or would never have been made in the first place. This is precisely why they are so important. They are a time stamp that you can be fascinated by but also learn from, especially in today's world.

TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager V

I've reached the end of the second season by now, but I've almost completely skipped at least three episodes (for the reasons I mentioned in the last post). These filler episodes just aren't for me, even though they certainly have their purpose. But for me, they simply don't contribute much to the overarching story or the characters. Additionally, the writers are given too much time and freedom in these episodes, resulting in some rather strange things.

Speaking of strange things, I also got through "Threshold" at the end of Season 2. An episode that starts off incredibly well, and with the fact that at Warp 10 you're practically omnipresent, there could have been a lot to explore. But now I just wonder if Janeway and Paris's children are doing well.

However, it did feature one of the best dialogues:

Captain: "Can you wake him?" Doctor: "I don't see why not." "Wake up, Lieutenant!!!"

In the same episode, I noticed that millions of gigaquads of data were loaded into the memory core again. Does anyone ever defragment that? Or even look at it? (Previously, due to distortion, there were already 20 million gigaquads of data!!)

Also, I found it odd that the shuttle was only three days away even though it was practically everywhere at the same time. Coincidence??

However, this season featured a reunion with Q (John de Lancie). After his reintroduction in Star Trek: Picard Season 2 and the way he was mistreated in such an impossible manner, sorry to put it that way, it was nice to see him in full glory. I'm still angry about how everything in Picard Season 2 was handled, it's disgusting!!

Now, the third season is right around the corner, and I'll start it tonight as well. The Borg should be making their first appearance soon, and then Species 8472 won't be far behind! Yes, there's still a lot to come, including the Borg Queen making an appearance. So much good stuff, full speed ahead!

TV Shows - The Big Bang Theory VI

Yesterday I left the gang at Season 3 Episode 13 and yeah, Bernadette showed up and I'm still alive. Even Sheldon shows off more of his a-hole attitude and I know, that this will get worse. Leonard and Penny are trying this relationship thingy but we all know where it will end…

…this time!

I'm now sure how much I can watch for the rest of the day because I'm exhausted, it was a long day with too many inputs but a lot of awesome food. Just one word, "Winter Burger"!

Tomorrow is SuperBowl and I think I will relax a bit without the gang to be fit, because I have to stay up until 1 am Monday morning. And I saw today, that The Marvels and Halo Season 2 are online available. Actually, I don't care about The Marvels, I just wanna see how bad Marvel will disappoint me. But I'm happy, that they did a second Halo Season, had a lot of fun with the first one.

January in Film

January was movie wise a pretty wild ride. Watched a lot from my prime and Netflix Wishlist and most of the stuff was pretty fun. Most impressive was a german movie named "Der Vorname" (engl. How about Arnold?). Think February will be a bit more calm, maybe a rewatch of a tv-show, haven't decided yet.

TV Show - Star Trek: Voyager VI

New day, new Star Trek: Voyager episodes. Season 3 Episode 10 is currently where things stand. I'm just contemplating, I think I slept a bit too well last night, even if it was just for a short while.

What I've noticed is that there are several levels of chaos. Sometimes the camera just shakes a little, but not much else happens. The next level is when the camera shake includes crew members tumbling through the decks. Real chaos is on the way when a strand of Janeway's carefully put together hair is hanging loose. Then the ship is about to fall apart.

We've already completed a two-part episode, and it was quite good, involving time travel. It was a nice lead-up to the episode with Seven of Nine working for the time ship Relativity.

In the current episode (S3E10), in the German dub, Kes's voice is made to sound extra harsh or altered, which is terrible because the voice is already very grating, as she uses way too much vocal fry! But Kes isn't really a popular character anyway, at least not for me, so I'm glad that after this season she's done.

Let's see what else is to come; there's still a lot swirling around in my head regarding some episodes. I'm not 100% sure when Seven of Nine appears, but I'll be surprised!
