I haven't watched Queens Gambit in a while but I will never forget seeing a take that women were suddenly interested in chess like this idea that women couldn't possibly have been interested in chess before is ludicrous in the complete definition of the word and what if they became interested because of the show it doesn't make their interest disingenuous or performative.
