✨ You agree to go on a date with him after he asks you out multiple times. Really. Multiple times. Sometimes he would come around and ask, trailing behind you after school. Sometimes it would be Draken, hanging around by your locker and asking you what your plans for the day were. You were not that sure as to how you should react, having the President of the Tokyo Manji Gang following you around. Your friends didn't do much to ease your nerves either, telling you horror stories about their gang everytime you brought up the subject. But after some time of having them both around, you start to relax and think that maybe they're not that bad.

✨ When you finally say yes to Mikey, he smiles as brightly as the sun and disappears just as quickly as he appeared, leaving you standing alone in the middle of the hallway.

✨ The next morning, he's waiting for you outside your house in his motorcycle, ready to take you for a ride.

"I'm here for our date" he proudly tells you, patting the seat behind him "Come on, let's go"

"Ahm... Mikey-san" you say "We have classes today"

"So?"

You really don't know how to answer that, and you've never missed classes before, so you end up changing into something else and getting on the motorcycle with him.

✨ As soon as you do, your arms snake around him like a vice, and you bury your face on the back of his neck.

He looks back at you, humming. "Something wrong?"

You nod vigorously "I've never rided one of this before, sorry"

"Is that so..." he trails off, turning the bike on. The loud engine roars to life, and you muffle a little scream against his skin. Mikey chuckles "Then hold on tight, I'm going to show you how good it feels"

✨ It actually does feels good, and you slowly end up relaxing your arms and bringing your head up to admire the view on each side of the road.

✨ You drive until the sun is setting down, making a quick stop to buy some dorayaki for Mikey, and a milkshake for you.

✨He leaves his motorcycle by the side of the road, and the two of you sit down near the riverbank to enjoy the last rays of sun. You promptly realize he's been looking at you the entire time.

"How was it?" he asks.

"It was great. I never got to ride a motorcycle before, and it was awesome"

"Really?"

"Yes! I would love to do it again!" you stop, eyes widening and mouth closing. Mikey frowns at your sudden change in behavior, and you quickly clear your throat as to not make things worst.

You know what happens when you push guys into doing what you want.

"I mean... only if you want to, that is" you clarify, voice only a whisper— eyes on the ground.

"Why wouldn't I want to?"

You see his hand coming into view, and you know he's moved to sit closer to you. "Well... maybe I sounded to eager, and I really didn't want you to feel as if I was pushing you to do something you didn't want to"

"Hey" he takes your chin in his hand, eyeing you curiously "What are you talking about?"

"I don't..."

"The only thing you need to worry is about holding me tight once more, when we get back on the bike" he says, and your cheeks immediately flush pink "Getting confident is no excuse as to not do it, alright?"

"Mikey..."

"Manjiro" he corrects you "Come on, try it on"

"What?"

"Try my name, come on" he says, still holding your chin.

You gulp "Manjiro-kun"

"Nice!" he says, leaning to peck you on the lips and then quickly standing up.

Your mouth opens in shock because Mikey just kissed you all of the sudden.

He stretches his arms over his head "Come on, let's ride back before I change my mind and decide I want to keep you the whole night"

✨That night after he rides you home, he meets with Draken.

"You want what?" Draken asks, frowning.

Mikey hums, looking at the sky, hands in his pockets "I want you to find out who she dated before"

"Why? Something wrong?"

"I just have a bad feeling" he says, shrugging "And I don't really like feeling like this"

"And what are we doing when I find out?"

Mikey smirks, eyes devoid of emotion. He can still feel your lips on his "We'll go ask him how he wants do die, of course"

✨You're not ashamed to admit that you've had a crush on him even while you still had a boyfriend, and so you trail happily behind him when he finally asks you to hang around, thinking already about how it will feel to hold his hand.

"Hey" he stops, looking back at you with his eyebrows furrowed "Come here and walk beside me"

"Oh... I'm sorry"

"Why are you apologizing, dummy? I want to see you"

✨ You don't do much, and that's okay, because the only thing you want to do is to be with him. Somehow you end up going into a manga store, and you couldn't be more happy to run to the aisle where you know the last number of your favorite manga is, waiting for you.

✨Baji follows you, hands in his pockets, and when you turn around to show him the book, he smiles.

"Oh, you like that, huh?" he asks. You let out a high pitched scream.

"Like it? I love it! You see... the characters are..."

✨ You spend around twenty minutes explaining why the manga is so good, and how the characters should totally end up together because they belong with one another. It's fate. They're soulmates.

✨You cut yourself short to look at him worryingly. He's leaning on the shelf, arms crossed over his chest, an expression you've never seen before on his face.

"I'm so sorry" you apologize, biting your lip.

You know how much a guy can hate that you won't stop talking about what you like.

"What? Why are you apologizing now?"

"Well... I was talking non stop and I probably bored you..."

Baji takes a step towards you, grabbing the manga from your hands and scanning the cover. "This is one of my favorites. You didn't bored me"

"Wait" you pause, surprised "For real?"

"Yeah! Come on, I'll buy one for you and one for me" he tells you, picking another volume from the shelf and walking down the aisle to the cash register. When he realizes you're not following him, still glued to the same spot, he clicks his tongue and offers his hand for you to take it "Come on, hurry up!"

✨ You run and interlock your fingers with him, giving him a little squeeze because oh, this is real. When he squeezes back, you can't help but swoon internally.

"Oh, and hey" he says, leaning down until his eyes are right in front of yours "I would like to know the name of the bastard that said you bored him"

"Huh?"

He smiles, canines showing, and pushes a lock of your hair behind your ear "Just to give him a piece of my mind, that is"

Hold Back The River

Summary: scenario with fem!reader being Mikey's rock + love confession. some hurt/comfort.

Another day. Another late night call from Draken.

These conversations with him just keep getting shorter and shorter. This time, only two sentences.

"The usual park. Bring the first aid kit."

Followed by the beeping of the phone that told me Draken had hung up.

As you began the five minute walk to the park you began to contemplate how these nightly therapy session were slowly becoming more and more frequent and that was beginning to really worry you. After all, you were no professional and you didn't even know if your suggesting were helping. For all you knew, you were just making it worse and that really scared you.

You don't snap out of your own mind until your feet stop and you find yourself staring at the small playground you remember Mikey telling you about ages ago. Your soul desperately missed the innocent joy he had when telling you that story.

He's sitting in his usual spot at the top of the jungle gym, staring up at the moon. With a sigh, you begin the climb. He doesn't acknowledge you when you finally reach him and you don't expect him to.

You want to say something, anything, to try to make him feel better. But you also feel as though nothing you say will be enough. So instead, you reach out and grab his broken and bloody hands, guiding them into your lap. You allow a mental sigh of relief when he doesn't resist.

You inspect his hands and note that, unlike usual, a lot of the blood was his. You pull your travel-sized first-aid kit from your pocket and tenderly begin cleaning his hands.

The silence between the two of you feels more strained than usual. Something was really wrong, and you didn't need him to tell you for you to know. You've always been good at reading people, especially people you've known for a while. And you've known Mikey forever.

"What are you thinking right now?" You murmur, tone as gentle as you can make it, but making sure to remove all pity from your voice.

Mikey's silence continues for a moment and you almost don't think he's going to reply at all.

"I almost killed someone today." Mikey's voice is barely above a whisper, but that doesn't stop you from noticing how dead it sounds. Almost like he's reached the end and he's staring over the edge at the bottom, but now he no longer has any reason not to jump.

"But you didn't, right?" You reply. You had heard about the incident on the news and further details from Draken, so you were expecting this to come up.

"But I would have." Mikey insists, pain lacing his voice. "If Takemichy hadn't intervened, then I really would have."

"Well, that's what he's there for. That's what we're all here for." You look up at his face, but he quickly averts his eyes to his hands. "Friends make sure other friends don't do stupid stuff that could end up being really bad."

Mikey just hummed and shrugged his shoulders.

"Like that time I had to defend that asshole teacher's car when Baji tried to set it on fire because he called him an idiot. And when Draken almost bought that entire shop's treats because Emma said she liked it in passing that one time." You try to lighten the mood.

"THIS IS DIFFERNT!" Mikey shouts, your attempt at lightening the mood drowned out by his frustrations. "THIS TIME, SOMEONE COULD HAVE GOTTEN REALLY HURT!! I ALMOST ENDED A PERSON'S LIFE!! ... It's just-... it's just not the same..."

During his burst of anger, Mikey had pulled his hands away. Slowly and calmly, you reach out to grab his hands as you consider your next words carefully.

"It doesn't matter how different the scenarios and consequences are, it doesn't change the fact that we're all here for you."

"Why the hell do you care? You're not a member of Toman and we barely talk other than when Draken decides he needs a woman to talk to me because he knows I won't hit them." Mikey grumbles, looking intently at your face, which you choose to direct back to the task you were busying your hands with. You know he's just angry, but his words still sting.

Is that really all you are? Just a shield used to calm down Mikey?

But you decide it doesn't matter right now. What does matter, is your answer to this question.

You know what the safe option is, and you know what you really want to say. And in a spur-of-the-moment feeling, you decide to throw caution to the wind and say what you've been thinking for far too long.

You realise that while you've been thinking, the air had gotten really quiet and the night seemed calmer. More intimate.

You allow yourself one more moment to collect your thoughts before finally beginning to speak.

"You know, Mikey." You whispered, your soft hands delicately continuing to clean out his bloodied knuckles. "One year ago I fell in love."

His eyes widened momentarily because this wasn't at all what he was expecting you to say, but his gaze never wavered from your concentrated expression.

"He's a member of Toman, you know? He's cute and he's funny and he's confident. He's so strong. But he's so soft and gentle as well."

Mikey gave a soft hum as his attention switched to his hand in yours, his heart unable to bear the thought of you falling for someone else. Because surely this person isn't him. Soft and gentle??? After what he's just done?? Hell no.

But a part of him, a very very small little part, feels a flicker of relief. Because if it had been him, he isn't sure how he would be able to tell you that you deserve better without breaking both your hearts.

"I love him because he's the kind of guy that is loyal to his friends. The kind of guy that enjoys midnight motorbike rides to nowhere. He's got terrible bed-head but can't even do his own hair. And when it comes to romance, he's completely lost, but it never fails to make me laugh. He's the guy who loves sweets and kids meals that come with the little flags and he can't get to sleep without his favourite worn-out towel."

He feels some kind of emotion bubbling in his chest - hope?? - as he looks up at you. He stares intensely at you, begging you to look at him and confirm what he can only pray for. But you don't acknowledge his movements, just continue to patch him up with that gorgeous small smile of yours.

"But at the moment, this incredible guy is going through something, something that's really breaking him inside. And I don't know what to do. He can get violent sometimes, and that scares him, but I know it's his loyalty that makes him like that, not blood lust. And he feels sad because he's lost someone dear to him and can't let go of them, but that's okay."

"It's his little imperfections that make me love him so much. Because I wouldn't settle for anything less than human."

You finally finish with his hands, taking one in each of your own and look up to meet his watering eyes.

"Manjiro Sano, I think I might be in love with you."

And that's all it took for the silent tears to begin rolling down his face.

"Sorry." He whispers, moving to pull a hand to cover his eyes, but you only tighten your grip so he can't move them, causing him to look at you with shock.

"Mikey. It's okay."

Finally releasing the hold on one of his hands, you carefully lace your fingers in his hair and guide his face until it's gently tucked into your collarbone, where you know he feels safe.

Sobs wrack his body as he wraps both arms around you tightly, wailing until your shirt is soaked whilst you just continued to rub circles on his back and stroke his hair.

You waited patiently while Mikey let it all out. All the grief of the people he's lost and almost lost. All the weight on his shoulders from carrying the lives and dreams of so many.

You don't know how much time passes before Mikey finally looks up, eyes puffy but lighter than they were before.

"Mikey. I can't promise this will be easy, because I know for certain that it won't be. It'll be hell. It's really going to hurt. You're going to be beaten down again and again until you don't even feel like moving anymore." You take in a deep breath and lock Mikey in your gaze. "But I can promise you that no matter how many times it happens, I'll always be there to pull you back up again."

"You'll get sick of me quickly enough." Mikey chuckled dryly.

"I know it doesn't matter what I say to you, you won't believe me. So all I'm going to ask of you is that you don't push me away so that I can prove to you that I'll always be around for you." You gave him a another big smile before shuffling closer and allowing yourself to melt into each other's arms.

The two of you didn't speak again until the sun came up, choosing to simply bask in the comfort of one another's promises of forever.

For as long as Mikey has been able to recall, he has always unintentionally hurting the people around him. His closest friends and family would befall accident after misfortune.

He never wanted to admit that separating himself from the people he loved most would be the best thing for them.

Mikey was never particularly pious, but meeting you felt like a religious awakening to him. Despite seeing the destruction he was capable of, how easily he could hurt another person without even trying; you held him close and promised him you wouldn’t leave him.

He didn’t want to be alone, which is why he never pushed people away, despite easily hurting the ones he loved. Even when you got hurt, you always put on a brave smile and assured him you were just fine, that he had nothing to worry about..

Mikey began to treasure you the same way someone may worship a god; you became his voice of conscience and reason. He may struggle knowing what’s right and wrong, considering his dark impulses, but you set the slate clear for him. He no longer had to think for himself whether something was wrong.

All Mikey needed was to think about you. If he pictured you scowling him for an action, he’d begin backing off. Your mere opinions were like laws that he swore to uphold.

No one dared speak poorly of you either, lest they wanted a peek at what heaven looked like. You would condone his violence as long as they deserved it, and he not kill anyone. Blasphemers who looked down on you were well deserving for an ass kicking by his sense of right and wrong.

A/N: if you think about how much each of them has been through you'll realize that they really need something good to happen once in a while.

Dick is the one who melts when you place his head on your lap. He has a huge grin on his face and often asks for you to bend down a kiss him, might also bite your lip when you do that, it makes your thighs tense. Probably for the best if he didn't tease you too much, this is supposed to be a relaxing time.

Jason blushes when you put his head on top of your lap. Believe him he's trying not to look at your boobs but from this angle it's very hard not to, they're in his face. But he won't comment on this, he doesn't have time to because he's getting pretty sleepy from you running your hand through his hair.

Tim lays his head on your lap like he's a cat and doesn't stop talking to you about his day, very enthusiastically. This is the best way for him to unwind after patrol or a mission, even though he should be sleeping he wants to tell you about his day. If he feels like he might fall asleep he will go to bed, and invite you too.

Damian most of anyone else doesn't like the idea of being coddled by anyone or feeling like he's been too pampered. Will try to get up from your lap at first but if you keep him there for a bit and keep asking him questions while stroking his hair he will relax. He might even start placing your hand on his head so you don't stop touching him.

The two strive to be good boyfriends and make you happy, Mikey is usually more affectionate than the Draken, but the Draken is much more protective, he is responsible for taking care of you two and performs this task in the best possible way.

Mikey always shares his food with you, gives you some gifts and takes you to various random places with Draken on his motorcycle, mostly at night. Draken really sometimes doesn't know very well how to show his feelings with words, so he gives you gifts and other types of treats like acts of service and quality time, anyway, it's cute.

You often go out together to busy places to resolve gang issues, although they honestly don't like to get you into that kind of situation, but they would certainly never let anyone near what belongs to them, making it very clear to everyone that you it's their property and that it's best that no one comes near what's theirs.

They don't feel jealous of each other, but both often become extremely jealous, but they avoid making it clear to you, because despite everything, they both trust you completely, but of course they hate it when other people show the slightest bit of interest or they look at you too much.

In fact, they like the idea of having you, at all times and without exception, even in the most intimate or private moments. Mikey always kisses you in front of Draken and a lot of times he just prefers to just watch the two of you. The sight made you scoff as you watched Draken pin Mikey to the floor, noticing how the shorter boy was quick to make the other tumble to the ground with him.

It was only when the two of them began wrestling each other that you finally decided to intervene, not wanting to ruin your bedroom because of their petty fights.

"You know what, on second thought, I don't want any cuddles."

The sound of your voice made their fight instantly dissolve, however, it came at the price of both of them joining forces against you.

"What do you mean you don't want cuddles?"

"You're the one who said you were tired!"

While Draken sounded more understanding and ready to resolve the situation, just like he always did, Mikey was more annoyed and dramatic, making the taller blond kick him in an attempt to shut him up.

However, you were quick to intervene before Mikey could retaliate with a hit of his own.

"Yeah tired of your fights."
