I used to have a whole cake made in this style for my birthday when I was a kid. I loved the idea of dirt cake, it made child me very happy, and although I’ve not had it in many years I do think I’d still enjoy it in a nostalgic kind of way, even with my decaying sweet tooth.

This is the same reason I like Battletech. Yeah, Battlemechs are the focus, but infantry, tanks, and aircraft all still exist and are extremely important to warfare. Battlemechs are able to take a hit like little else can, but if you want the most efficient means of carrying firepower to a target that's gonna be a tank, not a battlemech.

Like I know a lot of Gundam shows usually only ever depict mobile suits fighting with maybe the occasional fleet action but in the original MSG they weren’t the end all be all to warfare (yet). They’re closer to how tanks were during the First World War, a brand new weapon system that was largely invincible because counter measures didn’t exist yet.
