Sometimes I Look At A Picture And Think...Why Havent I Written A Fic Where Someone Has To Jump Into A
Sometimes I look at a picture and think...Why haven’t I written a fic where someone has to jump into a pool to perform a brave rescue and then afterwards drinks a beer while sitting with wet clothes clinging to every curve of his body while the rescued person is recovering? Because, of course, he’s trying to look nonchalant about it, even though he’s deeply unsettled by how close he came to losing this person. Why hasn’t that even occurred to me?

be on the lookout...
tumblr got sneaky and switched my dash to “best stuff first” without telling me. Having been woken up stupid early this morning, it took entirely too long for me to notice.
but if you notice that your dash url stays ‘tumblr.com/dashboard’ and doesn’t become ‘dashboard/max_post_id=‘, go check your dashboard settings.
unless you want tumblr to decide what stuff is best. and not look at things in reverse chronological order. which, if you did, you’d be somewhere else, I’d imagine.
I love vampires! Really hope Adam plays one some day. Wonderful art.

Honestly, I think commenters should assume that the default is that authors adore receiving comments, and that if they haven’t replied, it’s more likely other things (like maybe obsessively writing) took over their time and not because they’re being hypercritical that a commenter didn’t express themselves perfectly. Truly, comments = love and love is always amazing.
Hi how can i know if the author actually liked my comment? I always worry that maybe i couldn’t express my emotions and thoughts enough for the author to understand how much i loved thier work but i know for sure that if they understood then they’ll like my comment so how can i know that the author liked my comment or how much they liked my comment? Honestly one of my favorite hobbies is leaving detailed comments about a work i loved.

I think the only way you can know is if they reply back. If you know them outside of AO3, you could probably chat via social media or discord, but that’s probably not going to be possible all the time unless you’re in a tiny fandom.
If you’re worried, you could always ask in your comment for them to reply with a ❤ or something if they liked it. Kind of like a kudos for your comment.
I went through this period where I kept fantasizing about just driving away...in the morning, driving past my office rather than going into work, in the afternoon, leaving work and driving somewhere, anywhere, rather than home. I didn’t know where.
And then I wrote I Dream of Jinn, where Ben (AU Obi-Wan), with a better job than mine, felt that same dissatisfaction, and did it, drove away one day, and found a bottle with a version of Qui-Gon as a genie. It was a very fun fic to write and I only realized months later that I no longer had that desire to drive away. It was gone. Not that my life had become perfect, but somehow writing someone else actually doing the thing and it turning out great for him ended that need for me.
I use my life and things that happen around me ALL the time in my fics, but that is the clearest I can point to, writing resolved a problem for me. I highly recommend it.
So I went to my therapist the other day, and later in the appointment I mentioned that I like to write self-insert fiction to cope. I also said that I generally hide it and felt embarrassed mentioning it due to the way people treat the concept online.
She said that self-inserting yourself into art and writing is an incredibly healthy way to feel good about yourself, and that she was appalled when I told her about the way it’s mocked on the internet.
So never feel bad about self-inserting or enjoying reader insert fanfiction, 1/1 professionals agree that it’s good for you and that the jerks who say you’re doing something wrong are just uneducated and don’t understand. Never listen to the anons who try to make you feel bad <3
Have a really nice day!

Fight for the future. Win the Senate.
I painted this kick-ass piece to show my support. Here’s hoping it inspires and motivates Georgians to get out the vote in the Senatorial runoff races featuring John Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock on January 5, 2021. It was a true labor of love. Let’s FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE OF THE SENATE.
And YES! T-shirts and Merch are available. And YES! Half of all proceeds will be donated to Stacey Abram’s non=profit get out the vote organization FAIR FIGHT.
