James has two appearances after he died. His first one, which actually captures how beat down, bloody and rotten is body would be and his second one, in which all his bruises and scars are healed/faded, his face isn't disfigured and he looks the way he did pre death. He hates his actual appearance, how disfigured and rotten he looks so whenever he can, he'll present as his second, 'healthy' appearance. Although when he haunted down the man who did this to him, he presented as his first, accurate post death appearance, just to slowly make the man go more and more mad before he ends up taking his own life.
