Absolutely HAUNTED by the mystery that still surrounds the old lord of Phoenix Drop. There was a man, a man who was special and strange and thought the world belonged to him. His influence touches every aspect of the story. He created Phoenix Drop, as a concept. He named it. He began it. He sired Levin. He got the attention of The Shadow Lord, and therefore the Shadow Knights, and and therefore… Vylad. He was the inciting incident.

He built a village. And not one them remember him. Not his face, not his name, not even what he was like. What he did.

He was bold and brave and determined, a descendant of Irene who carved into the world to create a sanctuary… and then he was murdered. Murdered and forgotten, forgotten and erased, the only person left to remember him being his wife.

His wife… who was captured. Who had barely enough time to get their child to safety. Who was never seen again.

He was a protagonist of his own story. He shaped the world we see. And we never get to meet him. We never will. And everyone he knew and loved forgot him.

Horrifying.
