Sometimes being a system feels like being pulled in a dozen different directions when no one can agree on how to react to something. If our partner doesn’t reply to us for days, the protector wants to tear into them for neglecting us like our abusers always did, the diplomat wants to try to talk things through, the anxious people pleaser wants to stay quiet in case they break up with us, the uninhibited one wants to be upfront about our feelings, the emotional fragments want to hide and cry and not do anything about it, the system kids just want our partner to comfort us and make it better.

No wonder I’ve struggled all my life to make a single freaking decision under any circumstances.
