He knew that leaving Rin with the new babysitter would be a good idea, considering all the good things he’d heard about her, plus, other than his brother’s wife and his mother, his daughter didn’t have much feminine influence in her life and a little girl needed a role model that she could identify with, and his role as her father would only reach a certain point.

He hadn’t been able to predict, however, the impact this woman would have on Rin. Ever since he had gotten back from the hospital he worked in (he was a very respected neurosurgeon), all that had left his daughter’s mouth were words and subjects that always ended in one place: Kagura.

“She taught me how to paint my nails, we baked cookies together - here, try one, daddy, it’s so yummy! - and we even watched the Little Mermaid! She likes it a lot more than you do.” Well, he thought, if she had been forced to watch it five times a day for four years now, maybe she wouldn’t be so fond of it.

“She’s very pretty, she has these big, red eyes - she says she’s a demon, like you, daddy! But she’s not a doggy demon, she’s a different kind of demon, and she told me all about them, there are so many! Did you know that there are lots and lots and lots of demon types out there?”

He hummed into his teacup. Yes, the lady in question had been a wind demon, he had noticed by the ruby set of eyes she carried and the feather-like way she moved around the room.

What do you think of the idea that Naraku can't be happy because even he can't love himself? Think about all the times, he's tried to get rid of his Onigumo side, how even as Onigumo he called his soul rancid and was shocked it had value, or how even his own creation made from his own heart hated him?

Thank you for asking me. It's such a hard question for me and I hope that you can understand what I mean since I'm not a fluently English speaker. Honestly, I admit that although Naraku is one of my favorite characters, I can't totally understand him (Who can understand him when even he cannot? =.=). The relationship between him and his heart can be seen as a battle between his purpose (?) and his sentiment (?): his purpose is improving his power since his sentiment is wanting to have Kikyo's love. Both of them really oppose each other, so it's quite easy to see the reason why Naraku and Muso/Akago/Hakudoshi hate each other that much (I'm not sure about Akago and Hakudoshi since they have not shown any emotion for Kikyo like Muso, anyway, three of them want to kill Naraku). I believe that Naraku can be happy if he solves the opposition soon by accepting his true feelings. Onigumo was the reason why Naraku appeared, Onigumo's heart became an important part of him so he cannot get rid of his heart. Instead of having a headache to find how to throw it away, he can confess his true feelings to Kikyo but well, if it came true, there might not more chapters for us to read lol 

Maybe those are Anemone, because primeroses only bloom at night. Btw, I've informed by my Japanese friend that red Anemone flowers have the same meaning with "I love you", and those flowers are also the symbol of the lovers' depart. In anime ep 168, the white flowers were turned red because of Kagura's blood and flight to Sesshomaru. I dont think it's a coincidence hmmmm

Okay, I was looking through the hanakotoba (Japanese flower symbolism) Wikipedia page, when I noticed that the Anemone (meaning “sincere”) looked a bit like the flowers in the field where Kagura died. So I clicked the link and found a closeup of the Japanese variety.
