Poem: I Didnt Mean To Miss You
Poem: I didn’t mean to miss you
I didn’t mean to think of you;
I didn’t mean to write –
I didn’t mean to miss you, and
I didn’t mean to cry tonight.

Poem: Watching Paint Dry
She liked to think that you
Were looking for a love
Like hers, a love that
Badly serenaded you
In the car to the tune
Of your old radio, a love
That gave you chills
Because of how icy
Her hands always were,
A love that progressed
Too slowly for you, a love
That you compared to
Watching paint dry.

Poem: For the Stars
Stars above, paint a picture of light
Against the obsidian night sky.
Watch us wish on meteors,
Thinking that they’re you,
And show us little twinkles
As you shine down on us
Through the atmosphere.
We’ll reach for you again
And again and wonder if
Our hopes have reached
You, too. Stars above,
I wonder if you wonder
About and watch us as
We love to gaze at you.

Poem: Focus
A Haiku
I’ll work hard today
So that tonight I can watch
The moon making waves.

Poem: Dusk
Dusk was infinitely more appealing to
Me when I saw the darkness in your eyes
And knew that we were due for some
Sort of adventure, or maybe a few.
I wondered where we would wind up
If we wandered toward the shadow
Of the sun along the dimly lit horizon,
Where we had watched it fall away
And leave us longing for more time
In the day. If the sun would not take
Another moment to lighten up
Your gaze, I would chase it until
You laughed at the futility of making
Haste in such a pointless race. Dusk was
Infinitely more appealing to me when I
Saw the moon rise to reflect light back
From your eyes and knew that there was
No disguise in your sweet, honest smile.

Poem: Catching Up
Can we talk a bit tonight? I’d love to
Hear what’s on your mind. Maybe I
Merely miss the mumbling of your
Soft voice as it drifts through the
Speakers in my often-silent room,
Or perhaps I prefer laughing with you
At every other turn of phrase over
Watching the ceiling fan turn. With
Each whirl that I witness, I wish that
You were with me some more. My
Heart pulls me to you like the tides
Are drawn by the moon, and I hope
To hear from you sometime soon.
