Large violet eyes gleamed at the man while she accepted the delicacy. Quickly she bowed several times before she admired the fancy wrapping. He wasn’t wrong about the nourishment the courtesan and their young assistance were given in the pleasure house, it was just enough to keep them all fed and do their jobs. The upkeep was already expensive enough.

After she hid the treat in the sleeve of her kimono, the young assistant motioned for the vice-commander to wait for her. There was something she wanted to give him in return. In a quick turn she rushed over to her small chamber and crouched down in front of her vanity. There it was; a neatly folded paper crane, the paper used was fancy with a floral pattern and golden specks. The crane, a symbol of peace, happiness, and recovery. A symbol befitting a samurai, she thought. Carefully she picked it up and to return back to the vice-commander. 

In a bow she offered the paper crane to the man as a token of gratitude and may it bring prosperity. The crane was her personal favourite to make out of origami. A hobby she could seldom enjoy as her attention was required elsewhere...
