sakura

"i'm leaving for school," sakura grabs his jacket from the chair when he finishes his food. "i love you."

you hum, stifling a giggle from escaping when you see a scowl on his face. kotoha watches in amusement, seeing sakura become flustered. "what? why are you looking at me like that?" you know sakura isn't a man who always says 'i love you', considering he gets embarrassed every time he does.

"you heard what i said, now say it back." sakura grits his teeth, unwilling to say it again. "i'm not leaving until you say it back."

"hm? what did you say before? i didn't hear it. i'm sorry, my love." you give him an innocent smile. "repeat it for me?"

"you-!" sakura's face turns red. "i said i love you, okay?! you heard me loud and clear now say it back!"

you laugh, finding sakura both cute and amusing. "okay, okay! i'm sorry. i love you too," sakura grumbles as he walks out the door. "see you after school, honey!" and the door to the cafe slams shut.

(you gave kotoha a high-five as this was her plan after all).

suo

"do you need anything else from the market?" suo asks you as he grabs his wallet from the counter.

"um... some chips will do, thank you!" you reply.

suo smiles. "okay, i'll be back in a few. i love you." he says as he opens the front door.

instead of your usual chirpy 'i love you too!', suo is met with silence. something unexpected. he closes the door and turns to you. "i love you." he repeats.

"mhm, bye suo!" your eyes are focused on your phone, hiding the smile that is creeping up on your face. suo has a small pout on his face as he approaches you. "what? why are you pouting?"

"sweetheart," suo sighs. "are you mad at me?"

unable to hold in your laughter anymore, you burst out laughing, grabbing hold of suo's hand in the process. "no! no, of course not! how could i be mad at you when you didn't do anything wrong?" he physically relaxes. "i'm sorry, i love you too."

"don't do that to me again," suo frowns. "i hate it when you do that."

you giggle. "'m sorry." you pinch suo's cheeks. "you'll still get me my chips though, right?"

kaji

"i'm off. bye. love you." kaji says rather hurriedly as he grabs a lollipop from the counter.

"mm, bye! see you later." as he is about to put his headphones on, he stops. "what? did you forget something?"

kaji's eyebrows twitch. "did i forget something? you're the one who forgot something!"

you tilt your head, feigning innocence. "hm? but i'm not the one who's leaving."

you hear a small crunch from the lollipop kaji's eating. "stop acting oblivious."

"but i'm not." you say, giving him a smile. "tell me."

kaji groans and takes the lollipop out of his mouth. "fucking- i love you."

"mhm, i know."

"are you just not going to say it back ever again." kaji asks, the frown on his face deepening.

"pft-" you laugh at the sight of his face, to which he immediately is about to start yelling. "i love you too, kaji! now stop frowning and get going! you're going to be late to school."

"that's more like it." kaji says, however you can see a small smile appear on his face when he hears you laugh.

umemiya

"y/n, i'm going out to buy some supplies for the kids!" umemiya yells from the kitchen. "do you need anything?"

"kids? the plants or your students?" you ask.

"both!" umemiya smiles. "so? anything?"

"hm, no thanks. i'm not craving anything at the moment." you reply.

"okay, i'll see you in a few. i love you~" umemiya says in his usual sing-song voice. he patiently waits for your response, however, when five seconds go by and nothing comes from you, he immediately walks over, putting a hand on your shoulder. "what's wrong? are you sick? did something happen? did i do something? why? what did i do wrong? i-"

"woah, woah! ume, chill!" you place your hand on top of his, trying to take it off of your shoulder but he won't budge. "it was a prank! i'm sorry!" a giggle escapes from your mouth. "i love you too. now go get those supplies."

"you-" umemiya sighs and shakes his head, a small smile evident on his face. "don't scare me like that. i hate you."

"mm, i love you too."

togame

"baby, i'm going to go now, yeah? choji says he wants to go visit umemiya or something," togame says as he grabs his sandals from the shoe rack. "are you sure you don't want to come?"

"mhm, i'm sure! have fun! i wanna laze around the house for today." you reply, waving your hand as you lay on the couch.

you hear togame laugh. "alright, see you later. i love you."

silence.

togame turns around when he is met with silence. a confused look overcomes his facial features. "baby?"

"yeah?"

"i love you."

"mhm, i know." you reply, covering your mouth with one hand to suppress a laugh.

"okay, this isn't funny." you can hear the scowl on his face. when you sit up, togame is indeed scowling. "y/n."

"okay, okay! i'm sorry! it was just a prank!" you defend yourself quickly before he can say anything else. "i love you too."

"i am not buying you sushi when i get home."

"wait, jo!"

sakura yearns for affection. he wants someone to hold his hands when he's nervous, he wants someone to look at him with love and acceptance. he wants someone who will hold his hands when he gets nervous, he wants someone who'll take care of him when he's injured, sick, or sad.

he wants someone to hold his face and wipes the tears that flow out when it gets too much — too lonely that it hurts him. he wants someone who'll make him feel safe, someone he can call his ‘safety net’. he wants someone who'll hold him in their arms and tell him that he's going to be okay, that he's not alone, that he deserves to be loved. he wants someone that'll always be there for him, even at his lowest.

but most of all, sakura wants someone who'll love him for who he is, despite his past, his looks, his anger.
