I just watched Are You Sure?, the first episode, and it's already too chaotic for my poor brain

I started laughing when Jungkook was clapping for the food which is hilarious and so sweet of him to do that

But then I lost it when Jungkook flipped over in his kayak and Jimin was just kayaking away laughing

And poor Jungkookie just cares about his phone xD

----------------------------------------------->

ouch.

That was the first thing that went through Kaeya's mind when his eyes grudgingly opened.

He had a headache. A mountain-splitting, thunder-shaking headache.

He never got headaches from drinking. Well, unless he drank fifteen bottles or such. He must've really drank a lot last night.

Does he have to go to work today? Kaeya really doesn't want to, with this aching hammer pounding on the walls of his brain. Hangover and work do not go together. Actually, nothing goes with hangover except throwing up and headaches.

Ah, forget it. He has a reputation to uphold, after all. Just because he loves to drink every night doesn't mean he's a slacker.

He limply throws back the covers and stumbles out of bed.

And immediately faceplants into the rug.

Shoot, that hurt. Now his nose and his ego are bruised.

Screw work. He can't go fighting monsters in this state. Every Knight of Favonius would laugh at him. He can't even get out of bed without falling, let alone leap around a mitachurl.

How did he get home last night?

First things first, he needs to take a shower. Then go see Barbara. He'll have to work extra to help out Jean. Kaeya feels kinda bad that he has to leave Jean on her own today. Maybe he'll ask Diluc to bring in word that he's taking his sick leave.

Oh, and he forgot about Y/N. He'll go visit her later. But for now, it's Kaeya time, which means showers, good food, and feeling sick.

After a long shower and a fresh change of clothes, Kaeya steps out of the house bathroom and spots an envelope on the table. Hues of light red and yellow adorn the envelope, and the seal of the Ragnvindr clan and Dawn Winery is neatly pressed on the opening of the envelope. Of course, Diluc insists on being proper and formal.

Kaeya's fingers drift around the ridges of the seal, then cleanly tears the seal open.

Diluc actually wrote a full letter detailing his traumatic experience of hauling Kaeya back home. Elegant script explains how Diluc already stopped by Favonius headquarters to excuse Kaeya from work, how Y/N covered the expenses of last night's drinks, and how Diluc will not be available for Kaeya's leisure for the rest of the week, as he will be personally seeing to a business trip in Liyue.

And... how Kaeya should check out a book from the library.

Now that's interesting.

Kaeya knows, that once in a while, when Diluc finds something suspicious and his Darknight Hero alibi goes to his head, Diluc will find a way to let Kaeya in on the secret.

Knowing Diluc and his liking to conceal allusions in plain daylight,he should probably check it out.

Kaeya sighs, adjusts his eyepatch, and heads out the door. Goodbye free time.

-------------------->

ah, this is the one.

Kaeya pulls out a book from the third shelf. Light blue, with silver threads on the edges of the book.

Triune Trails. What kind of name is that for a book?

Kaeya turns the book over in his hands. There's nothing unusual about this book. Did he interpret Diluc's letter wrong?

"Kaeya, sweetie!" Lisa greets him as he approaches her to check the book out. "I didn't know you were into books. If I had known, I would've made an extra cup of tea!"

"Oh, no, it's nothing like that," he chuckles. "I simply received a book recommendation, so I intend to try it out." Kaeya holds up Triune Trails. "Could you perhaps, enlighten me on the contents of this book?"

Lisa peers at the book. "Triune Trails... hmm, I read that one quite a while ago." She studies the book again. "It's about three girls, who are the best of friends."

Three girls? Is Diluc comparing him to a girl?

"One of the girls discovers something, and then leaves on a journey to find the truth. When she returns, her friends welcome her back. But she returns for an ulterior motive, which-actually, I've forgotten." Lisa frowns.

"Anyway, it's a fascinating read. I should pick it up again some time too. Are you planning to check it out?"

Kaeya nods, and Lisa makes a note on a piece of parchment with an extravagant quill.

"Okay, sweetie, you're all set. Remember, you have two weeks, then you need to come back to return it or renew it for another week. Don't go past the due date, please." Lisa flashes a smile at Kaeya, then takes a delicate sip from a teacup on her desk.

Kaeya chuckles again and heads out of the library.

What could Diluc be trying to tell him? About three girls? Or-

It hits him. Diluc is trying to warn him about Y/N.

Y/N. Her name echoes in his head.

So she was back with an ulterior motive, huh? What could she be back for?

People really couldn't be trusted.

Kaeya sits on a bench outside the Favonius headquarters and fingers the wrinkled pages. There's a couple pages with folded corners, and and a loose silver thread hanging out from parts of the book. Clearly, this book has been around for a while.

He flips the book open to the first creased page and scans it.

There's nothing special about the story. However, he spots a little note.

pg. 157?

Pg. 157 holds a small sheet of paper, with furious scribbles all over the note.

wolvendom. andrius -> south entrance

cape oath. domain/ruins -> east entrance

stormterror's lair. rift -> west entrance

city. library -> north entrance

▪︎Kaeya drinks every night

▪︎Diluc gone this week

▪︎Bennett/ Fischl around Cape Oath

▪︎Stormterror's Lair-?

Kaeya stares at the note for a moment. Was this Y/N's handwriting? How did Y/N know all this stuff? And what was with these locations?

The Mondstadt library. What exactly was in that library?

He slips the note into the pocket of his jacket and stands up, running through the beginnings of a dumb plan.

------------------>

The Mondstadt library was a lot more crowded in the afternoon. But, that was a good thing. Something Kaeya could use to his advantage.

But seriously, for what reason were there so many people? Of course, there were the usuals, Noelle, the Sumeru scholar, and that strange child who claimed to be a hilichurl researcher. Today must've been the rare day that Albedo sends Sucrose down the mountain, because Sucrose was sitting at a desk, flipping through several books and muttering to herself.

Kaeya looks to his right and left. There are so many locals in here. What is going on?

Never mind, this isn't a good thing. He brushes through the locals chatting, avoiding the people balancing precariously on the ladders. Maybe a new book from a popular series came out.

And then there's Y/N.

Shoot. What in Teyvat was she doing here?

She's chatting to Lisa at her desk, gesturing animatedly about something. Anxiety plants a root in Kaeya's mind.

Well, maybe he can still look around a bit. Kaeya studies the bookcases, the doors, the desks. Nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Perhaps this situation calls for a more... patient approach. Kaeya approaches a bookcase, pulling out a random novel, and proceeds to sit down and skim through it.

Time passes, and most of the locals leave. The valley outside is now tinged with sunset orange. Kaeya has just finished the novel he was reading, Corroboration on Teyvat. It actually turned out to be quite fascinating, detailing the various history of the Archons and lesser deities, as well as past and present ruins.

But there's no time to dwell on that. It's time for the next stupid part of the plan. Kaeya waves to Lisa and steps out of the library.

This is his chance to see if Y/N would do anything without him there.

Maybe a minute passes.

Or two. Two is good.

He hears a scraping noise, and then the tiniest of a dull thud. Then, a whistle.

It's that type of piercing, sharp whistle. The kind that echoes through silence. The one that cuts through your thoughts like a sword through air.

But it's the humming that Kaeya doesn't expect.

Not really humming. It's more of a low murmur, a slight buzz, vibrating and echoing throughout the atmosphere.

For a moment, the ground trembles.

Kaeya flings the door to the library open, expecting... something.

But there's nothing.

Not one person.

Not even Lisa.

Kaeya immediately goes into mission mode; velvet steps, hand on sword, eyes scanning for threats.

The library is completely quiet. There is not a soul flitting around the bookshelves, standing quietly, looking out the window at the blue sky.

Only the quiet rustle of a breeze faintly disturbs the solemn gloom of the library.

Kaeya cautiously, so cautiously, takes a step towards Lisa's deck.

Then another step. Then another step.

There's actually no one here.

Kaeya scans the room again for anything, a sign for anything amiss.

Ah, wait.

Lisa had made a special order for a new bookcase in the library. Custom-made in Fontaine and everything. There it was, standing proudly against the wall by her desk.

How did Kaeya know this? Well, he had been the one to help the poor delivery person cross Mondstadt.

The bookcase did seem a bit out of the ordinary. Kaeya peers at the bookcase carefully, then raps on either side of it. A hollow knock echoes out of it.

It's hollow, then. That means it's hiding something.

He takes a step back, observing the books on the shelf. Kaeya had heard about secret passages concealed by bookshelves. Or more accurately, Diluc and Y/N had read about them.

A History of Wolvendom. The Boar Princess. The Vanessa. Visions and Their Myths. A Manuscript on Oceanids. Stairs and The Process of Installing One.

Kaeya chuckles at the title and pulls the book out of the shelf. It slides out halfway and becomes immovable. He adjusts his grip on it and pulls hard.

The bookshelf creaks, and then suddenly swings open to reveal a huge, rectangular safe embedded in the wall. Kaeya uses his Vision to freeze the handle, then lops it off with his sword. Wiggling his blade into the hole made, he shifts the sword around until he hears a click, and the safe pops open.

A hollow and dark passageway is in front of him. Kaeya, without hesitation, strolls into the hole with his sword out.

---------->

This passageway is no ordinary passageway. It seems, to Kaeya, almost like some ruins. The stone walls are shockingly cold, and Kaeya can almost feel the dust pervading the place. The only source of light is his Vision glowing, and maybe the lambent, but distant atmosphere of the library at his back.

The farther Kaeya goes, the more sinister the ruins feel. Kaeya keeps hearing some sort of whisper, and a dull buzzing beneath his feet. Whatever this place is, it's not good.

Kaeya hears a rustle, and instantly his sword is in his hand and pointed in front of him. His legs tense, ready to spring at a moment's notice.

Up ahead, a dark figure with its back turned to him waits. Kaeya can barely see in this darkness, but it almost looks like the figure is a statue. Maybe it is.

Then the figure suddenly turns around, throwing back some kind of cloak and stretching an arm out toward him. Kaeya's arm suddenly twitches, his legs bend, and in an instant he is on his knees, convulsing, sword discarded.

And then the pain comes. At first it's a small sting, then another sting, and then suddenly it feels like a million needles are dancing around him, stabbing and shredding his body into a thousand tendrils of flesh. He gasps for breath as the needles continue digging into his skin. Kaeya clutches his head in his hands.

There's so much pain everywhere. Kaeya can barely think at this point, let alone ask his body to move an inch. The figure is still standing there, with one hand pointing at him, almost like a bored prosecutor. Kaeya's eyes sting with moisture, and suddenly the ruins and the figure around him disappear.

He's back, outside the winery. Diluc is in front of him, with that undescribable hatred brimming in his eyes, a shaking claymore in his hands. His red eyes are screaming fury and malice. Kaeya can almost hear the question that Diluc longs to ask him.

Why?

Kaeya can still feel the shame and guilt and hatred that tore them apart.

Diluc's crimson eyes are wide, tears on the brink of spilling over, his fiery hair soaked by the unforgiving torrent of rain. Kaeya's own locks are wet and limp against his skin. His sword is loosely gripped in his slippery hands.

Diluc opens his mouth and screams.

"I hate you!"

And then, a clang of metal against metal.

---->

Kaeya's on the ground, shaking and trembling, curled up pathetically like a baby. His sword is next to him, unmoving.

The physical pain is gone. But the raw, unfiltered grief and guilt that Kaeya had locked up for so long, had been unleashed. The damage had been done.

Someone stands over him. The outline of a polearm is visible in their hands.
