Jungkook was feeling grateful, that you were finally in his arms. That you gave up your determination to deny him the love you had for him - the love you still have for him.

You soaked all the warmth you could from him, as your arms wrapped tightly around his waist. You finally gave up, and you had prepared this huge monologue for him to tell 'why you didn't want to be with him in the first place and why you shattered his heart like it meant nothing' while you ran to see him.

But when he saw you cross the road, in a hurry, almost like you were suffocating. He could see how much you were struggling to get something off your chest.

It was all because of one simple message from Jin that made you finally confront with your feelings.

Jungkook got hurt, I think you should come and see him.

Jin purposely didn't tell much, and left you with a name of a hospital. And you didn't need much push to run to the hospital only to find Jungkook waiting outside the building.

You can't hold back the tears from seeing him in front of you. It was too much. It was one thing to ditch him the night when he was going to ask you out to be his girlfriend but knowing that he was in a danger gave you this sense of loss that you couldn't help but feel although you broke his heart two months ago.

Jin already texted Jungkook but he had little faith that you would actually show up after you didn't bother to see him once when he was out in the cold waiting for you.

He slowly touched your arms, waiting for any sign of you pushing him away, but instead was surprised when you wrapped your arms around him, and muttered, "I am so glad that nothing happened to you". He gently cupped your face, still afraid that you might wake him up from this dream.

You stared deeply in his eyes, as you said, "I am so sorry, I should have said it..."

You still found those words to be difficult, and out of your reach.

He wiped your tears and gave a warm smile to you.

"It's okay. You came, you are here... We are here."

You nodded.

"I like you, y/n. You don't need to say it back, even that day when you didn't came. I know it's overwhelming, but I just wanted you to know how I feel. "

He was so sincere, you could see it in his eyes, the way they were holding back those tears, for all the time you avoided him, after you realised he was going to confess to you.

"I... I was there that day, when I texted you that I won't be coming. I just wanted you to leave but you were not even budging. It was the first snow of the year, and it was getting so cold. "

He looks stunned and almost finding it hard to form words. But somehow managed to utter one word, "Why?"

"I was afraid this thing you are feeling is gonna evaporate soon, and I just wanted to protect myself. I know because of your work you meet all kind of people... Women and what if one day you decide that I wasn't worth being by your side. I know it's stupid, and it's probably way it the future, but I overthink and panic. And what if your fans start to hate you or something..."

You didn't get to finish, because a rich laughter erupted from Jungkook. He could not believe you rejected him because of this, and here he thought he wasn't enough. He never thought you would have this kind of insecurities because ever since he saw you, everything about you was so perfect and you always held yourself with so much confidence whenever you engaged in a conversation with him and the boys.

As if it wasn't already possible, but he decided at that moment that he loves you more than he did a moment ago. But just not to stress you more, he rephrased his words.

"I still like you, you know. And I am going to like you even if you don't like me. But I would prefer that you like me. " He said with his doe like eyes staring at you, as if he could see your soul.

You laughed and tighten the embrace, as you snuggle closer, you whispered, "I like you too."

He gave a bunny like smile to you, "I think we should go to some cafe or something, before people post stuff about us, that too before you officially do the honour to become my girlfriend?"

You blushed, and that made Jungkook more happy and you could picture yourself staring at his bunny smile for a long time, as he holds your hands and keeps them in his pocket, while securing his cap with the other hand as he leads you away.

Since the beginning

You were always smitten with Namjoon, as a kid, but the older you simply loved Namjoon like it was something that was meant to happen eventually. Like every cell in your body was taught to only love him.

Jeongguk knew about this crush of yours, he couldn't help but stare at that sparkle your eyes had, whenever you saw his older brother, Namjoon.

Namjoon was everything Jeongguk wanted to be like, everyone loved him, he was good at studies, he was athletic, and his teachers vouched that Seoul National University would be glad to have him, which they did.

Jeongguk always felt little proud, that you were the only person he had just for himself. At five, you jumped over the bushes, to play with Jeongguk at his house, or how at eight, both of you would do your homework together, it was mostly you doing his homework along with yours. At ten, you didn't went to play with the kid from another classroom who was also your friend, you instead choose to stay behind in the school nurse office to make fun of Jeongguk as he winced when the nurse applied red solution on his cuts. But all this for what?

When at thirteen, he could clearly see how softly you looked at his hyung. Jeongguk loved Namjoon, but by the time you were 18, Jeongguk could no longer deny, that how different you acted around his hyung, and how that makes him the second person in your life. And that bothered him a lot.

You hated when Namjoon moved to Seoul, mostly because you worked hard to be in the same high school as Namjoon, only to see him a couple of times in the school before graduating. And you still helped Jeongguk with his homework, or just do it for him, since both of your lucks have been intertwined since you met at the age of 4, so far not only did both of you get to study in the same school, but also in the same classroom. This homework session allowed you to atleast take stolen glances of Namjoon, but thanks to his enormous amount of extracurricular activities, he usually came home late. And whenever he was home, he rarely lifted his head from his books. It was like the universe was just not on your side.

His senior year, was probably the year that you got to least interact with him, but that didn't stop you to deepen the crush that you have developed over him. He was the most kind and loving man you had ever seen, unlike Jeongguk he didn't hesitate once to give you his ice cream or made you watch wrestling matches, or destroyed your plushies. Instead, Namjoon got you a plushie, when you were seven, he was always so considerate towards you. And you couldn't help but want to see him smile more, and that cute dimples that adorns his face.

So when Namjoon left for college, Jeongguk finally had you for himself, or that's what he thought. You made friends, like you usually did, and one of them was a girl, whom you started to call your best friend. Jeongguk is your bestfriend, he had other male friends, but no one hold a candle against you. You started having sleepovers with this girl, and if Jeongguk asked you what you both of you girls did - you replied along the lines with words like "girl talk" or "girl stuff".

Truth was he missed you, when he played games and somehow came to the conclusion that you only came over to see Namjoon hyung and not him.

But he kept it to himself, forgetting how much he missed spending time with you, whenever you came over to hang out with him.

Namjoon came over during holidays, which were usually during his semester breaks, and spent most of his time with his batchmates from school, but he never forget to spare time for Jeongguk and ask him about school or life in general while playing video games with him.

Jeongguk started to not like whenever you show up, during Namjoon's visit.

By the time both Jeongguk and you reached eighteen, he got used to you trying to pull girly stuff on yourself. You hushed him, whenever he asks you to hurry up, but you are taking your time coating your lashes with a layer of mascara. Your bestfriend or like Jeongguk says girl best friend was really into makeup and somehow got you into it as well. He does not see why you had to do anything to your face, you were already pretty, but he wouldn't admit that to you.

You wanted to go to Seoul badly, you never told Jeongguk, but there were some guys who confessed they liked you, but you dismissed them all, simply because they are not Namjoon.

You worked hard, but apparently not hard enough to get into Seoul National University, but still got into another university close to his University. Although Jeongguk made it to Seoul National University in Fine Arts, which made you realise he was after all Namjoon's brother, he atleast possess half the brilliant things Namjoon has. To you, no-one was as amazing as Namjoon, but Jeongguk couldn't exactly be compared, he was a complete opposite of Namjoon, but also similar in certain areas. And also he was like a brother to you, someone who knew how to comfort you, someone you know everything about.

So before the semester began, Namjoon and Jeongguk helped you move into your dorm room, while Jeongguk moved with Namjoon in his rented apartment.

3rd year law student Namjoon blew your mind. You found out he not only had to study a lot, but he did that while juggling three part time jobs and by the looks of it he either didn't let go sports or hit gym frequently. And through all of that he also managed to find himself a girlfriend.

You were shattered, when you visited Jeongguk at the bar where Namjoon worked, only to find him talking to a pretty woman, who later introduced herself as Namjoon's girlfriend.

And whenever this girlfriend talked, Namjoon had that smile that you loved, stapled on his face.

You drank more than you should that night, and later cried in front of Jeongguk as he brought you back to his apartment. He let you sleep at his bed, while he uncomfortably settled in the small couch in the living room.

Namjoon came home after his shift ended to find a large bunny like Jeongguk turning and tossing in the couch.

You always knew Namjoon was handsome and girls just adore him, but what you missed in your equation was what if Namjoon like someone else too. You were used to girls hitting on Namjoon, only because Namjoon politely denied them.

And thus you stopped hanging out at the bar, or stopped purchasing unnecessary amount of ramen packets from the store he worked at. And to your suprise Namjoon texted you.

You were worried about how he had noticed your sudden withdrawal from his life. But it was a message to invite you for a trip.

" Y/N are you free this weekend? Let's have a camping trip. Four of us. You will be coming right?"

You turned down this cute senior guy for a coffee a few weeks before only to find that the one guy you actually liked was asking you to go on a trip, along with his girlfriend and baby brother.

You thought, it was probably to keep Jeongguk busy while he get to make himself busy with his girlfriend. So you choose to lie, ofcourse.

Namjoon personally came over the night before the trip, along with Jeongguk to make you pack. Since you had no choice, you packed your clothes and left with them to their apartment, as they were going to start driving early morning.

Namjoon's girlfriend was already there in the apartment, cooking dinner. You had a little conversation with her before you settled in Jeongguk's room, and all of a sudden it dawned to you, that you are taking up his personal space, and it might be uncomfortable for him, the last time you had sleepovers with Jeongguk was back in the beginning of middle school.

"Kookie, let me change then you come in?" You said.

He looked confused. Were you asking him to sleep with you on the same bed? He knows that both of you were no longer the age were you had sleepovers, but thinking about it, makes him wonder how you would feel beside him.

Four of you had dinner, then Namjoon retires to bed with his girlfriend, but before that asks Jeongguk to crash on the couch.

Jeongguk was going to do that anyway.

But you pushed him to his room, knowing he will take turns to drive the car tomorrow, and he needs to sleep well.

You pulled over the blanket and closed your eyes. You felt a heavy body fall on top of you, your eyes open fast to see Jeongguk's face, acting like he's sleeping. You have never been this close to him, close enough to see his eyelashes, the faint scar on the side of his left cheek.

"I am sleeping on the couch, now you can choose to sleep underneath me or the bed, you choose! " He said.

He was still on top of you, face so near you, that kissing him won't be difficult. A blanket seperated you from his muscular body.

You were surprised when heat reaches your cheeks, and shade of blush adores your cheeks.

Because that was the first time you couldn't think straight because of Jeongguk. You couldn't look him in the eye, because for the first time you felt like he was not just the kid you hang out, but a man.

You muttered, "Move!"

You almost jumped on your toes, and a part of you almost missed that how you were a minute before, and also embarrassed because it was Jeongguk who made you feel embarrassed.

You felt uneasy for the first time as you lied down on Jeongguk's bed, but somehow drifted to sleep with the lingering scent that reminded you of home.

You badly wanted to scream, " I told you so" at Jeongguk's face, but you held back because you could see from the rare view mirror how Namjoon's girlfriend snuggled into his chest.

She was supposed to drive, but Jeongguk being the kind person he is, decides to drive the entire way in his head. He said, "Noona, you can takeover when I get tired," you knew it was a lie.

Namjoon didn't knew how to drive, that was probably his only flaw, and also that he can easily break things, which was sad, considering how obsessed he gets over tiny things, that he usually ends up losing, or breaking them apart accidentally. And you still have not given your driving test.

So, the only one who took it upon himself to drive all of you to the mountains, which would require four hours of drive, is Jeongguk.

You couldn't help but feel pity on him, his neck was hurting, you knew he was too large for that couch and so you offered to sleep there instead, but he was trying to be too gentlemen infront of you.

Your hand made its way on the back of his shoulders while he was driving, he almost got distracted with this sudden contact of your skin on him.

You whispered, " you okay? Does it hurt too much?"

He nodded.

You pressed your fingers with light pressure on top of his shoulders and moved towards the back of his neck. You pressed your thumb on his smooth skin, when you hear Jeongguk lets out a small moan. Before you could say anything, Namjoon asks, "Jeongguk what's wrong?" Jeongguk mumbles something about standing long hours while doing his painting was slowly becoming the death of him, and surprisingly changes the topic to Namjoon's favourite topic art galleries.

His girlfriend who was his junior, also shared his interest in art, so it wasn't suprising that they soon became engrossed in a conversation about the new paintings they have seen together.

You were about to move your hand away from his neck, when he whispered loud enough for only you to hear, "Don't stop."

And there it was the blush, that you were first introduced with last night, on top of your cheeks. You hesitate for a second before you put your fingers back on top of his skin.

After driving for almost two hours, Jeongguk stopped near a gas station, so that you girls could take a bathroom break, and have some food before hitting back on the road.

You didn't had any choice but to accompany Namjoon's girlfriend. She blabbered a lot, she would have seemed sweet to you, only if she wasn't dating Namjoon.

And out of all the things she blabbered, the one that stood out was, "You and Jeongguk look really sweet together." She saw how drained your face look, and immediately said, " I am sorry, I thought... Namjoon said you both were close, I didn't mean to upset you. "

She almost looked like she was about to cry. Ofcourse, the one girl who held Namjoon's heart would be someone who delicate, fragile and cute, because that's the kind of person he was always attracted to, someone who he could always protect and keep safe.

You rushed towards her and held her shoulder, "Hey, it's alright. I am not upset."

"I know, it may seem stupid, but I really want you to like me, you seem like a important person in both of their lives. When I first met Namjoon in this art gallery, I was like how didn't we see each other before in the campus, and then I got to know him a bit, and we were hanging out, he would tell me stories of you, Jeongguk and him doing fun stuff back at home, and I wanted to meet you, because you must have spent so much time with him, probably know tons of stuff about him. I am blabbering I am sorry... It's just that I really like him, I never met someone like him. I really want us to work."

You listened to her words this time, and you smiled.

"What took you so long?" Jeongguk asked as both of you girls came out of the wash room.

And the words came back, 'you and Jeongguk look really sweet together. '

"Nothing," you muttered.

You got inside the small convenience store attached to the gas station, as you heard, Jeongguk saying that it's getting late. You got yourself some chocolates and milkshakes. Jeongguk gets inside the store and finds you getting confused over whether you should get banana or strawberry milk.

"Get both of them, " he said.

He was confused, he has been with you way too long to know everything about you. He knew you had a high sugar cravings whenever you were on your period, and he always used to bring your favorite ones whenever you refused to go out during those couple of days.

" You are okay, right?" He says with a voice laced with so mmuch concern.

"Yes I am," you said, while picking up your banana and strawberry milk and head towards the cash counter.

Jeongguk pays before you could even touch your purse.

He helped you pick up your things, and walked towards the car to find the other two watching a movie on a tablet while munching on chips.

Jeongguk quickly ate a sandwich that Namjoon's girlfriend had prepared this morning, before getting behind the wheels again. He asks you to hold a banana milk for him, which you did. You opened one for yourself, another for him. You sipped yours, while held another on your hand for him. He sipped while driving, while you realised you never denied anything about Jeongguk being together.

From the front mirror, you could see with your sleepy eyes, how Namjoon and his girlfriend has fallen asleep. Jeongguk could feel you staring at them, he interrupted your thoughts, when he tells you to sleep, which you denied. You kept on fighting with the tiredness that was closing your eyes. You heard someone chuckle softly, before you gave up, and drift off to sleep.

Namjoon's girlfriend woke you up.

And the first thing you noticed was the beautiful view of green mountains, and then the large lake beside which the car was parked. The second thing you noticed was the leather jacket that was on top of you.

You jumped out of your seat, taking the jacket in your hand, but your bravery left you when you felt how cold it was. You put on the jacket, and went inside the wooden house.

The wooden house was nothing fancy, two bedroom, one kitchen and a shared bathroom. But what made it extraordinary was the view, it was breath taking.

You went inside to find that Jeongguk already took dibs on one of the rooms, that he decided was the best one. Namjoon hesistantly put his stuff in Jeongguk's room.

You knew what he wanted, but you also liked that he didn't already decided on his own that he wants to stay with his own girlfriend. You sighed, and went to the other room to get your stuff, that the boys kept.

"Hey, where are you going with your stuff? " Namjoon's girlfriend said.

"You know what I am going to be nice person and let Namjoon sleep here," you couldn't believe that this words were coming from your mouth. You saw the disappointment in his face as he entered the other room.

You were obviously hurt, and this was your way of getting over the pain, by hurting yourself more, to the point it feels numb.

You assumed they slept with each other, since she stays over quite frequently in the apartment, so it didn't make much difference if they do so once more.

It was almost 3 pm by the time all of you settled in, Namjoon decided to help his girlfriend cook, who volunteered to cook all of you lunch.

While food was being prepared, you inhaled the beautiful clean air, that you rarely found in the city, and relaxed in an arm chair in the back porch facing the heavenly mountains, and the tranquil lake. This makes you almost forgot how you sad you are about this whole situation over Namjoon.

Jeongguk changed into a comfortable hoodie and sweat pants, after taking a shower. He knew it must have been difficult for you to letting Namjoon go to that room. He knew from the beginning, this trip wasn't the best idea, especially because of you. He tried to reason with Namjoon that you would be busy over the weekends with your college stuff, but Namjoon won over the case by saying stuff like then she probably needs some rest more than all of us. Namjoon found a counterattack to everything Jeongguk said. He saw how slowly you drifted apart, over a couple of weeks, stopped coming over to the apartment, stopped asking both of the brothers to hang out with you in a bar. He wondered if you found someone else to accompany you to the bars, or someone to talk to, he concluded in his head that you probably did. You were never short of people to have a conversation with. Now that Namjoon was out of your reach, why would you even require Jeongguk's friendship. This was the thought that scared him the most. That all this years he was just a ladder to climb up to Namjoon. He hated feeling this way, but he also hated how you tensed up whenever you saw noona and hyung together.

He saw you putting your bag inside the small wardrobe, instead of taking all your stuff out, leaving enough room for him to unpack his stuff neatly inside the wardrobe.

You left his jacket on top of the bed, and put on your own, before you said, "I hope you don't mind sharing the room with me, Namjoon was probably too polite to say it out loud."

Jeongguk nodded, but all he was thinking was how you know what Namjoon wanted, and were you ever in this situation before. He knew you didn't have a boyfriend, but there have been some boys who were interested to become one. But ever since both of you got into college, he started to have less idea about that department, especially after you found out Namjoon was dating.

He called you for lunch, and, you didn't knew how much you were starving, before you devoured a big bowl of samgyetang. She was a really good cook, you realised, because Namjoon was bad at even cooking instant noodles, so it was all her. All of you decided to retire to your rooms for a quick nap, before prepping for the bonfire in the night.

You decide to watch some series, and Jeongguk laid beside you, maintaining a lot of distance between you two.

For some reason, he couldn't sleep, he decides to watch the series with you, you could see he looked tired. So you softly asked, "Jeongguk you look really tired. Shouldn't you get some sleep?"

"I can't... " He said.

It makes you immediately think whether you staying in this room, and laughing is distracting him.

"Sleep Jeongguk!" You gathered your laptop and earpods before you tried to get up from the bed.

He almost winced at how you have distanced yourself from him, he recalls how last night you choose to sleep in the couch, or now that you choose to leave the room. Was he making you feel uncomfortable?

He immediately holds your hand, "Hey it's not your fault that I can't sleep. So don't leave. You might catch a cold if you stay in that porch for too long."

You moved back to the bed, and Jeongguk turned to the other side and slept peacefully knowing you were close to him.

He woke up to find you gone. There were sound coming from outside. Namjoon has prepared the barbeque setup in the porch like he always did with an ease. You were cutting the meat and vegetables in the kitchen. And by the time, Jeongguk joined you in kitchen, Namjoon was already by your side, helping you add the spices into your barbeque sauce.

Jeongguk couldn't help but notice how well Namjoon worked with you. He knew his hyung has his own shortcomings at times, but he didn't know since when he started hating this dynamic between you too.

He picks up the gloves and wears them before grabbing the tongs, and goes near you. "I will help."

You were mixing the sauce, "I got this, besides Namjoon oppa is already helping me "

Jeongguk felt bad, it was the same kind of bad, that he felt during that Christmas when you opened Namjoon's present before his, or when both of you shared ice-cream without offering him once.

He kept all of it too himself just to have you a little more for himself. It just wasn't about how you would ditch him in a heartbeat for Namjoon. He knew you more than Namjoon, you spend more time with him compared to Namjoon, he would always have your back, but he wasn't assured anymore that you would have his, especially after he saw how you disappeared from their life after meeting Namjoon's girlfriend. It's sad that Namjoon holds so much power without even knowing, and that makes it one of those nights where Jeongguk decides to get drunk.

There were a couple of things that his brother and best friend didn't know that he liked drinking, especially when he was sad, which is usually when he thinks about you. But lately your sudden disappearance, gave him more occasions to drink and speak his mind to his college buddies, Taehyung and Hoseok. Jeongguk met them in a football club, and hit it off pretty well. He didn't even get to brag to you about his new friends. So, he would frequently hit the pub you liked with his new friends, get drunk and tell them in different poetic ways how much he missed you, and that you were a bitch for losing him over Namjoon.

Jeongguk has always been aware of how much he needs to be close to you. His tendency to always have you near, smiling or laughing at him, was something he perceived as his need to have that one person who be just his, who would put him above everything else. The older he gets, the difficult it became to hold on to that idea, without adding feelings of romance to it. His constant need to have only your attention, which you stopped giving at certain point, because you were branching out, making friends, only made him crave it more. You always cared for him, protected him even when you made new friends, and to him, what matters most is you always came back to him. Finding out your feelings for Namjoon was difficult for Jeongguk to accept, but like always he choose to have you by his side no matter he has to do for that.

Jeongguk took of the gloves, and walks towards the fridge, that Noona has filled with bottles of soju. He grabs a bottle of soju, and leaves the kitchen.

He takes a sit near the porch and drinks the soju straight from the bottle, the mountains looked peaceful unlike his mind. The soju tastes sweeter than usual, just like all the other times he drank while thinking of you.
