You could see he was tired, the bags underneath his eyes looked like he barely got any sleep last night.

Although he was tired, his face strongly held the smile that reminds you of sunshine and warmth that he has showered you since you met him three years ago. You were hired by his sister, and she had the same warmth as him, she invited you to her home and family dinners quite frequently although you joined her team a couple of days ago. You adored his sister, she was so bright and passionate about her work and was super affectionate towards her family. It wasn't a suprise that you thought of her as your role model, someone who hired a fresh graduate with no experience and treated her like a family.

And when you met him, in one of those family dinners three years ago, you couldn't help but be happy around him. He just had that thing in him, that makes people around him feel warm and happy. You knew that he was a famous celebrity, but he was so down to earth and kind throughout the dinner. Talking to his parents, telling them stories of his tour and his members, and asking them what they did while he was out of country, Hoseok seemed so normal.

And if someone asked you, what was the one thing that made you feel things for Hoseok? You would probably say his interaction with his family. The way he cared for them makes you feel so soft, because from that simple thought arise another one, the women he falls for will be so lucky to have such a caring person in their life.

But you shouldn't have that kind of thoughts. You were his sister's employee, it was enough that his family have welcomed you into their lives with open arms, you should not be too greedy.

But Hoseok, who used to come home only during breaks and at the end of the tour, started visiting home, or his sister's office weekly, his family started noticing this change, but you sadly didn't, because even if you did, you didn't want to get your hopes up.

You choose to get happy with the small things like whenever the food that you cooked with his mother, is complimented by him, or when his sister would say that you did something that benefitted the company, and he would say, "You are so lucky to have her".

You were so wrapped up in the thought that both this sister and brother were way out of your league to acknowledge the fact Hoseok was straight up flirting with you. Once in a while would drive you home as well, everyone else started to realise that he was making more time for himself which he dedicated to you.

His sister had to interfere, seeing how naive you were to her brother's advances.

"Y/nshii, what do you think of my brother?" She said, when she realised that talking to you about it indirectly was failing, because you kept blabbering about how much you admire their entire family.

Your flustered self, was enough for her to realise that she need to do something about the two of you.

The next time Hoseok came over to Gwangju, she made both of you take Mickey to walk, which gave him the perfect opportunity to talk about his feelings for you.

"I can't believe that I had to flirt with you, infront of my parents, and even they know that I like you, but you still don't."

You paused, it wasn't like you thought of yourself low, but you just thought of them as your idols the kind of people you want to be like, so it didn't settle in to your head that Hoseok has been flirting with you for months.

Why would he even flirt with you?

But you liked him, you admired him way too much for his hardwork and the amount of dedication he gives to his career which should have made him rough, but he was still so gentle, doesn't care about another person's designation to be nice to them.

It took you a while to get yourself completely comfortable in the relationship, because it took you time to see the edges that he rarely shows anyone else. The time he got frustrated that the dance routine he was working on wasn't executing as well as he thought it would, or someone interviewed them and asked a upsetting question or when someone tried to invade his privacy secretly, or the award that they could not achieve. Things like this happens to him, but doesn't mean it doesn't shake him up.

You unraveled slowly that although he is sunshine to everyone else that surrounds him, but sometimes he loses the light in him as well. So you try to cheer him up, and it wasn't difficult, because all you had to do was hold him, and that innocently little act would immensely comfort him, he would tell you things and you wouldn't interrupt him, but squeeze his hand, as if to tell that you will always be there for him.

Slowly, your relationship with him feel so natural like it was always there, but it has been only two years since you were with him.

You still worked with his sister, because you insisted that your relationship should not alter your professional life, just like you tried as much to not alter his. You still lived in Gwangju in your one bedroom apartment, where Hoseok showed up one Wednesday night. He kept on tossing and turning in bed, you didn't want to pressurize him to talk, but you softly asked if anything was bothering him. The practice for the concert has been tiring him, he mentioned.

He loved doing this job, but lately the practice and his schedule has been tiring him out too much.

"Oppa, if you ever think, you want to quit, let's open up a tteokbokki or noodle store. You like my hand cut noddles, I think it would sell well, right?"

And he just laughed.

Not in a condescending way but your words tugged the strings of his heart in a strange way.

"Thank you. I am so lucky to have you." He held you tightly, as if to tell you that it warms his heart that you will be there for him, with no questions, whenever he needed you.

And the next day, when the members saw their hobi, he was back to himself, recharged, full of energy like the sunshine that he is.

Even the members knew, it was because of you, the light of his life.

When you haven't seen him in a month

It's too late, Jungkook knew. That whatever his destiny planned for him, was going to be away from you now that you are marrying his best friend, Taehyung.

You knew, your soulmate was Jungkook, although a little late, but you tried to see if he ever felt anything special about you, but Jungkook was always so reserved and tight lipped, teased you to the point that you gave up any slightest idea of him having any sort of feelings towards you.

Neither of you acknowledged the thread that tied on both of your ring finger, that was so red that you could see it from miles away, but only you and Jungkook could see it. Until the day of your wedding.

" In another lifetime, I will choose us. In this one, I want to run away with you so far, that nobody will know us. But I am too late to even begin what Taehyung has already finished."

Both of you in tears, yet can't move away from each other. Looking into each other's eyes, as if you could see your entire lifetime that you could have built with Jungkook, if he said the right words to you back when the time was in his hand, or if you ignored Taehyung's feelings.

Jungkook loved you nevertheless and not because of some thread that drag you towards his fate.

Your heart was torn, when he was looking at you with so much longing, right beside the wonderful man you would soon call your husband. Taehyung did everything your soulmate didn't, you couldn't help but fall for him, you spend your twenties with him, and there was no denying that he was the one you want by your side forever.

But the eight year old girl, who first saw the red thread that tied to the pretty boy living to the other side of street, want to break down in the middle of the room.

You always wondered if Jungkook ever loved you.

He did. Now you know but it's too late.

He choose Taehyung for you, because he broke both his and your heart to keep Taehyung safe, in some way Taehyung will be able to put pieces of you back together, Jungkook was assured of that.

But it's never going to be the same. You will love Taehyung as much as possible because he deserves nothing less. But the cracks in your heart all belongs to Jungkook, you told yourself as you saw his lips broke down into a bright smile, with a hint of lingering sadness.

Since the beginning

Part 3 // Jeongguk x reader

It was hectic, as you joined the restaurant just a week before Christmas, so the limited amount of staff tried to help you as much as possible to get used to waiting tables and serve food without messing up orders.

You worked for a couple, who managed the restaurant on their own. Their son, sometimes help with deliveries, but mostly, Jimin, a part timer, helps with deliveries and serving. The husband cooks, and the wife manages the cash counter. Their business was slowly budding and felt it was too much work for Jimin along to serve tables, and the day you came their to have some Kalguksu, your eyes fell on the paper sticking to the wall, on it were written 'Looking for part timer'.

You came as a blessing right before the couple exhaust themselves more than they already are.

Jimin was there most evenings. He was a kind man, you could tell, a lot of customers knew him, and he would also casually chat with them while taking their orders. You worked along with him pretty well.

Jimin was a dancer, he was practicing under a famous master, and even got featured in seven Youtube videos as a background dancer, he seemed very proud when he tells you that. Apparently it was difficult to be chosen to be a part of those videos, only a couple of dancers gets lucky enough to be dancing along with their masters that too for a youtube video.

You called your parents to tell them that you won't be able to go home for Christmas. They were slightly despondent after hearing that you won't be home for Christmas, but were extremely proud of you for getting your first job, although it was a part time job.

Your friends from Busan texted and called you to hang out but you promised to see them in summer. Christmas was a day away, and most of your dorm-mates either went home or some were going away on vacations with their boyfriends. Your classmates that lived in Seoul, who weren't dating asked if you would loved to join them on Christmas. They didn't expect you to actually join them, most of them assumed you were dating someone.

You have already promised to work at the restaurant on Christmas, Jimin had something to do, so you stepped in his place. Besides, you did not have any plan on Christmas, except getting drunk on some expensive wine that you bought yourself for getting a part time job.

You thought this was going to be your first Christmas without Jeongguk, but it wasn't. Because the order for 4 servings of samgyeopsal, 6 bottles of soju and 2 servings of fried rice was brought by you to the table where Jeongguk and his two buddies were residing at that moment.

You kept your feelings to yourself as you saw the three men staring at you as you brought the banchan on their table. You would get paid a little more for working on Christmas, so it was your motivation to present yourself in front of Jeongguk to grill the meat. You prayed to god's above that he doesn't say a word to you. You have been standing on your feet constantly working for 4 hours. And you still had to work for 2 more hours. So you don't want to deal with Jeongguk at that moment.

You spoke only when you asked for their preference, and setup the grill for them. Thankfully they understood the situation and didn't jump on you with their questions, about your part time job and everything else. However, Jeongguk looked pretty reserve, he refrained his eyes to meet yours. You took that as a sign that he was still angry, and just like you have been doing for a while, you left him alone. Since you were the only waiter, you didn't had much time to spare, you were going back and forth between the kitchen and the tables. They spent almost an hour in the restaurant, before Hoseok pays for the food and the three of them leave the restaurant.

It was midnight, when you changed your clothes in the changing room of the restaurant, and you went out through the backdoor. Your heart skipped a beat, when your eyes met Jeongguk. He was waiting for you to finish your work.

"I will drop you home. I haven't drunk much."

It was true, although you haven't noticed, Jeongguk could barely drink when he saw you after such a long time. You looked tired, and there was no Christmas cheerfulness in you, like he has always seen in you. You smiled at every customer, which was nothing like the warm genuine smile he is used to seeing. He doesn't understand why did you all of a sudden needed money, and that too working on Christmas day.

He also couldn't get drunk, after some sleazy group of men kept trying to talk to you whenever you walked past them. He had to stay behind, just to make sure you were okay.

When he heard Namjoon saying you won't go home for Christmas, he expected you to spend your Christmas in some club getting drunk till you could even remember your name, and dancing till you can't even feel your legs.

He stayed because Taehyung's birthday was coming, and also because he thought you would be going home, so he just stayed at the apartment.

"I can go home by myself. Thank you. I will get a taxi," you pulled your puffer jacket closer to you as you pushed your hands in the pocket of your jacket. Seoul's temperature was getting worse, and it has been snowing for a while. You didn't want to freeze yourself to death. Although you lied about getting a taxi, you just got paid the bonus for working in Christmas, you weren't about to spend it on some taxi. No, you were gonna drag your feet to the bus stop, and take the bus instead, no matter how much your feet hurts.

When did things became so awkward between both of you that you feel like there's a lack of vocabulary whenever he's near you.

"Please Y/N, it's not too much to ask!" He pleaded, with his glistening doe eyes.

"I.. Are you all of a sudden concern about me just because you bumped into me while I was waiting tables?" You were going to lose this unofficial fight that you had made up in your head, so you focused on the rage, that hard hot ball of steam that was burning inside you.

His confession or whatever he thought was a confession didn't gave you a choice. It came like a lightning, struck you, burnt you and left, like it hasn't ever touched you.

Yes, you were guilty of not giving him a proper answer to whatever he said. But he choose to step away from the friendship that both of you had for years in a matter of few months.

The pain that flashed across Jeongguk's face didn't seem to please you like you thought it would. Instead, it made you restless and sad.

"You are right. I didn't knew you would be here."

You were about to turn away when he hold your hands gently.

"You think, it's easy for me? To hang out with you while you stare at Namjoon hyung like he's your entire world and shatter my own heart. You pick Yoongi hyung as your rebound, and you want me to be friends with that man. It hurts Y/N."

The more he speak, the more you felt the pressure of his hands on yours. You didn't utter a word, how could you when he looked so broken.

His voice, was starting to raise by the end and your hand started to hurt. So you just mumbled, "Jeongguk can we please go somewhere else and talk?" You didn't want the owner of the restaurant to figure out your mess.

For a second, he was irked thinking that you were ignoring him like you always did, but the wave of calmness washed over him when he saw that you didn't let his hand go yet and he immediately loosen his grip on your hand, but not letting it go completely.

He took you to his car, and the memory of the last time you were in that car hits you, months ago when you and Jeongguk didn't have so much difficulty in speaking to each other .

He starts driving, but has no idea where to go, most places will be crowded since it's Christmas.

"Where should we go?" Jeongguk tried to keep his eyes on the road, but he was failing constantly. You could feel that, how many times his eyes drifted towards you. Rage and eagerness radiates from his body. Most cafes or restaurant looked to cheerful and bright, nothing that resembled both of your feelings at that moment.

"You can choose," you checked your phone, to see the time, your dorm room would close at 12.30 am, you asked specially to extend your curfew, because of the part time job.

And it's already 12:20 am. You texted your land lady that you are running a little late. But she didn't respond, so you are not sure if the doors will be closed or not.

"Actually can we talk now? My land lady will get pissed if I ask her to open the door after the curfew." You didn't think it would piss Jeongguk of, however. Why were you taking him so casually? Were you still ignoring him? Mocking his feelings as if there are none.

"You can sleep in my couch. So tell your land lady that you won't come home today."

His voice held too much venom, although he didn't say anything bad, you weren't scared of Jeongguk, but you never met this Jeongguk before, who spit words that sound like he had so much authority over you.

"Jeongguk," your eyes met his, as the car stopped near the side of the road.

You were contemplating whether it was a bad idea to touch his arms, like you used to do.

"How can you always do this to me?"

His hands held the steering wheel so strongly like he wanted to rip something.

"Do what? Try to be your friend. I always..."

"Like I don't matter. Y/N I don't want to be your friend anymore. I am tired of whatever this is between us. Of you always making everything related to me, so small that it doesn't even bother you. Am I so insignificant to you?"

If anything he said or did before didn't broke the thread connecting both of you, this finally did.

His words, seemed to suffocate you, you tried to open the window, and tried to held back the salty tears that were rushing to the surface of your eyes.

It wasn't worth fighting Jeongguk anymore, you thought. But you weren't going to let the tears fall that were slowly making your eyes hazy. He was always your return ticket to comfort zone, and now he wasn't.

You didn't want to go with him, but you did. Because you feared that the words that he said to you, the place where it came from has more to throw at you.

Jeongguk noticed all of a sudden that you choose to nod or hum as a reply. He felt guilty, you were still the girl he loved, yet he let his emotions drive you away. He never felt so distant from you like he did in this closed space.

"Y/N, I...," he tried to speak but held back his words.

You looked outside the window, waiting for the car to finally pullover at his apartment. If anything you just want to lock yourself away from Jeongguk. You didn't know this Jeongguk, he said things that hurt you, that make you question your entire relationship with him. Did you really push him to become this? Did you really ignored him to the point that he doesn't even want to be friends with you?

You were awfully silent, and Jeongguk knew it was because of him. He didn't pressurize you further. You couldn't help but think maybe part of it was your fault, you always treated Namjoon like a king just like everyone else, always appreciated everything he did, but that doesn't mean you neglected Jeongguk, you took his side always, even if it was against Namjoon, which rarely happened because Namjoon was always on Jeongguk's side as well.

None of this makes sense anymore because Jeongguk is just telling you that your entire childhood that you spend with this two brothers was a lie. You know how much Namjoon loves Jeongguk, and if you put their relationship in a difficult position, you would rather walk out of their lives completely than see them against each other.

When you reach the apartment, Jeongguk let's you in, and you take a seat in the couch, put your things on the table.

"I will bring you something to change, you can use the bathroom first," he says and was about to go and probably bring his t-shirt or hoodie for you. But you stopped him, "unnie, probably left some clothes here, I will go find that you can wash up first."

You could barely look at his eyes when you said it. Choosing to avoid wearing his clothes meant a huge deal to Jeongguk, he was used to you wearing his clothes often back when both of you lived in Busan and even in Seoul whenever you crashed the apartment, before things got different between you two. Jeongguk nodded and went to take a shower, but he was cursing inside his head.

You were drawing a line, that's what Jeongguk thinks. You choose to wear clothes that belonged to Namjoon's girlfriend instead of Jeongguk, that same girlfriend whom you tried to ignore a lot meant that you were not going to go easy on him at all.

You went to Namjoon's room and for a second you wanted to cry. You felt guilty but you also felt like the victim. You never once used Jeongguk to gain a upper hand on Namjoon. Yes you would hang out with him a couple of times whenever Namjoon was around just to sneakily take a glances of Namjoon, but you always gave your undivided attention to Jeongguk. You were friends with him, because he was the kind of person who had your back and cared about you, who you felt protective about.

You picked a top and shorts, it was a little tight on you though, but you wore it after you took a shower.

Jeongguk could see how uncomfortable you feel, as you got out of the bathroom.

"Are you hungry? Should I order something? I only got ramyeon at home."

"I ate in the restaurant," you lied, which Jeongguk knew. You can be sometimes a terrible liar.

"Fine, I will cook sone noodles for myself then," he lies, making sure to take extra noodles for you.

You reached for the green onions and started chopping it, while he bring eggs and sausages from the fridge.

And for some reason, he started talking, when he was facing towards the fridge, because he was terrified of your silence.

"I am sorry for talking to you the way I did today, Y/N. I just .... You are really important to me, and I am not sure that you feel that about me."

You stopped chopping, and you gathered your thoughts, thinking whether you should be rude to him or not.

"I am sorry, that I made you feel like that you weren't important to me. That I would choose Namjoon oppa or Yoongi oppa over you. I never thought, I was doing this to you, that staying with me was hurting you or making you feel inferior in any way to Namjoon or anyone else."

You clenched your hands tightly, and it was slowly starting to get difficult to see things clearly as tears started to cloud your vision.

"I always care about you, Jeongguk. I won't deny that I was running away from unnie and Namjoon oppa for a while, but I didn't knew I made you upset. Yes, I loved your brother, but I am not going to ruin his happiness. As for Yoongi oppa, I really tried to normalise everything, and I won't deny a little part of me wanted to shove him, at whatever words you assumed as your confession, because I wasn't ready to break both of our hearts."

You don't know whose heart you broke more with your next words, yours or his.

"I don't love you. I will not allow myself to be in love with you. Jeongguk, we haven't talked to each other for months, because of this feelings. What makes you so sure that we won't fight in the future? What if it's about Namjoon oppa, you knew my feelings for him, yet you waited so long to confront about it, rather you just exploded when it was starting to become too much for you. I don't want to be the reason you repulse Namjoon. Choosing to not love you like that is how I am making sure to not hurt you more than I already am."

Drops of tears fell on your hands. The tears failed to stop, but you instantly felt Jeongguk hug you, so fiercely as if he was joining the pieces of your broken heart.

You couldn't stop sobbing, he was your best friend, or is, you don't know anymore, ever since you stepped into Seoul everything has just been so wrong. This wasn't how you imagined your college life to be like. You hug him back, because he wasn't letting you go until you calm yourself and you needed him. His words keeps ringing in your ears, and the damn tears wouldn't stop coming. And when he held you so tightly that you felt yourself calm down a bit.

"I understand. You don't have to love me. Okay? I'm going to love both of us enough that you can't even complain."

Confused by his words, you stepped away from him and the warmth his hug provided, which you missed instantly.

"I love you y/n, it was the most easiest and scariest thing I have ever done in my life, knowing that you might not love me back was scaring the shit out of me. But now that I know you choose to not love me, I can also choose to continue loving you. It sounds silly but I don't want to get over you, you know. I'm always gonna stick around you, even if you date someone else. Even if that some one is hyung, I am not going to be angry with him. And just in case, we get together, I'm going to make you so happy that the only thing you would be able to tell Namjoon hyung is that you love me."

Jeongguk was laughing at this point, you couldn't understand how the words that came from his mouth was funny.

"It's not funny. I can't do this. Stop making me break your heart. It's hurting me too." His hand was finding yours to comfort you, in someway just like you did to him whenever he got too overwhelmed or sad. But you took a couple of steps back, his touch lingered on your skin for a couple of second.

"Coming to Seoul was such a stupid idea. I shouldn't have come here, my classmates probably think I am too full of myself, going out with the hottest senior from our campus, who probably thinks I am a bitch too. I didn't intend to hurt him, I didn't want to hurt you. This is all my fault. Oppa... Namjoon oppa probably saw me as his sister, and I kept on telling myself that he will like me at one point once I become an adult. I hate being an adult, I feel like an idiot, Jeongguk. "

You broke down infront of him, and he just wanted you to stop sobbing, he rarely saw you like this. You were always so put together, calm and composed. This was a sight he never saw before, even when you saw Namjoon leave Busan for college, or saw him with his girlfriend. He immediately closed the gap between you two and hugged you again.

"Nobody thinks about you like that. As for Yoongi hyung, he asked me to look out for you, and would ask me how you are doing, he probably doesn't want you to feel awkward or something."

You interrupted him, "wait, you talked to Yoongi oppa? I thought you didn't like him."

"We ran into each other at a cafe. Hyung's pretty cool, I might have judged him based on my jealousy. We hang out sometimes, Hoseok hyung even asked him to join us today, but he already promised to meet someone so he couldn't make it today."

You had no idea, that Yoongi would hang out with Jeongguk and his buddies. But a part of you were glad that he's back to his life just like he was before you met him, hanging out with friends, making music and possibly going out with someone who loves him. Relationships are tough, doesn't matter whether they are romantic or not, if they are close, and break, sometimes they leave scar that is hard to not think of when moving forward. You didn't want to traumatize him, and make him think whenever he kisses a girl, he can see that girl is not thinking of him. That's what he saw on your face that night, your lips on his, but your mind wasn't full of him.

And the one person who you were thinking of that night was here, right infront of your eyes, confessing his feelings for you.

"Let's not fight anymore Y/N. I hate how far we are from each other this couple of months. That night, I really wanted to say that I love you." He said while reaching for your hands. His rough fingers held your soft ones, but you instantly pushed them away.

"You can't love me like that Jeongguk. Why are you not understanding that I don't want to lose you?" You raised your voice, with more tears in your eyes.

"And you won't", Jeongguk dipped his soft lips on top of yours so suddenly that it took a second for you to register his lips were on top of yours, a couple of more before you could feel that he was trying to deepen the kiss, a couple of more that you let his tongue into yours, an finally when you realised that you couldn't help yourself but kiss him back, you pulled yourself back.

This kiss was everything like the one you had with Yoongi, but at the same time so much more. This time your mind was blank, and your heart was racing too fast, a part of you wanted to make you move away from, but your entire soul was bared into that one kiss. He was holding you in his arms, and you let him.

When both of you pulled away from that breathtaking kiss, you still had tears in your eyes, but still too shocked to believe that Jeongguk kissed you and most importantly you kissed him back.

Jeongguk's heart was racing because of two things one, you kissed him back, two, what if you walk out of his life right this moment. You couldn't look him in the eye.

"I don't know how to show you that I love you. Don't make me stay away from you anymore Y/N. I can't do this after...after staying away from you this long." Jeongguk said, with tears threatening to spill soon

You touched your wet lips and would have most likely wiped your lips, but before you could do anything else, Jeongguk presses his lips onto yours again but this time erasing any inch of space between you two, pulling you close to his hard body and indulging himself in the taste of your lips.
