I had the opportunity to also illustrate a fic for the @voltronrarepairflashbang​!

The fic I illustrated is Goodnight, Goodbye  by @fluffy-keef​! It’s an awesome fic and I encourage everyone to read it.

Possibly silly crossover rambles

Anybody out there also a fan of both Voltron: Legendary Defender and the October Daye series? 

I had a random thought for a crossover. Look at the Alteans; aren’t they suspiciously close to Fae? Oriande might as well be a part of Faerie. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had an origin with Oberon and Titania. Some are significantly more powerful than others but all have some basic skills. And they are definitely magic, regardless

But wait, the Galra sure have some traits that could mesh with being Fae too (albeit on the more “monstrous” end), not even limited to the fact that they can have kids with just about anything out there. With training (and possibly other things), Galra can do magic too, and they certainly have an aesthetic. 

Of course, neither are immortal, but Pixies don’t appear to be either, and they were created; so what if the Galra and Alteans were creations, not children? Imagine Oberon and his future wives as newly aware, and essentially still children, and they’re hopping around the universe having lovely games. And they make toys for themselves, because of course they do! (And Titania and Maeve don’t like each other, and competition happens) But they’re young, so eventually their interest in their toys fades, and they head back into the depths of Faerie, leaving the “toys” behind to struggle on their own. The Alteans use technology and alchemy to cover for the slowly fading magic, and the Galra probably abandoned magic ages ago (at least until Zarkon goes evil) and focused on survival of the toughest. 

Fast forward to Changelings and Fae in the Garrison wondering if Keith is just a really thin blooded Changeling himself (and the hints that go over his head). Fast forward to mostly Changelings (and a few Fae) helping out after Sendak’s invasions. Don’t-Look-Here spells would be useful to help humans avoid the Galra and escape to safe places. Fast forward to the first time that they see the Alteans, and the rampant wondering if they’re some new species of Fae. 

Just imagine! Somebody should tackle this, because it’s probably gold. I claim not it.

Okay! Thanks for answering :3 Follow-up question- how long are joeys in the pouch before they can emerge for the first time? And on that note, how old are they when they are generally completely 100% pouch-weaned?

Joeys need at least 7 earth months in the pouch before they can start coming out, but some joeys won’t leave the pouch for the first time until as late as 10 earth months. It depends both on physical development and how adventurous the joey is. 

Pouch-weaning is also variable. Given a chance (ie without external pressures like stress, or bureaucratic meddling) most joeys won’t leave the pouch for the last time until they’re about 4-5 years old, although at that point, they’re only just sleeping in the pouch at night. The absolute earliest a joey can be fully pouch-weaned is at about a year old, which is the earliest they can technically be weaned off milk. It’s generally not healthy for the joey to be weaned that early in either way, but it can happen. In Empire mandated creches, pouch-weaning is usually forced on the joeys at around 2 or 3 and that’s mostly because the carriers (and a few males) that work there are overburdened with joeys, so older joeys are weaned in order to free up pouch room for new arrivals.

Would you ever write a Regris x Keith fanfic? How do you feel about that pairing? I dunno, I think it's pretty cute >__0

I love it! I haven’t stumbled upon a plot that really sings to me that features Regris x Keith yet, but I do want to write them someday! They were almost a triad with Hunk in The Festival of Bounty, but the relationship felt more brotherly when I mapped out the background for that fic, so I changed Regris and Keith to brothers instead. 

I haven’t settled on a future partner for Keith in the Family: Found, Fractured, and Reformed timeline yet, but Regris/Keith is a frontrunner. (on the other hand, I also really, really love Hunk/Keith) I’ll have to see how things play out and gel together before finalizing things.
