On particularly gloomy days, Seungmin is your beacon of light. (this one is for you lovely anon and for the people who bottle things up, i feel you :,))

You were always one to bottle up your emotions inside, not allowing anyone to see the growing turmoil within you. You believed it was best to keep things to yourself rather than burden people- especially your boyfriend- with your problems. 

But there were days- like this one, when the emotions that you've kept hidden become too heavy to bear, and you feel like a ticking time bomb just waiting to explode. 

That’s how you find yourself crying in your bed at night, your hand tightly clamped against your mouth so you wouldn’t wake up Seungmin. But your efforts are fruitless; it's as if you are trying to hold back the stream of a river with a single branch. The tears flow and flow until you are awash in them.

Seungmin wasn't blind; he noticed how you felt glum during the day, sending tight smiles in his direction. That's why he desperately fought sleep- he wanted to stay awake in case you needed him, and apparently, he was right to do so. 

He lets you cry for a while because he knows it will help ease your pain. But your sobs feel like pine needles puncturing his heart over and over again, and he knows he has to do something- to at least let you know that you aren't alone. 

You feel Seungmin’s hand slowly skim down your arm and settle on your palm. He grabs your pinky gently, his grip so lose you can easily slip out of it if you want to. He offered you his comfort, but he wouldn't force it upon you. It was on your terms.

You tentatively twist your hand and intertwine your fingers with his. Your palm grows sweaty as your sobs cut painfully through the air, but Seungmin’s hand never leaves yours. He squeezes it tightly, his silent way of telling you that he was there for you. 

You don’t know how long you stay that way, the both of you looking up at the ceiling, your fingers interlocked in one another. But your cries have now subsided, and your body is no longer shaking. “Baby,” you call out to him softly, and he instantly brings you to his body, as if he was simply awaiting your cue. “I’m here. I got you.”

You can’t see his face in the dim light, but in a way, you are grateful for it; it makes the sensation of his arms wrapped around you much more heightened. You no longer feel that he’s hugging your body. He’s reaching into you and embracing your soul, wrapping it in a warm blanket to help fight off the cold.
