I've Been Making These Costume Dragon Tails On Commission For A Few Years Now. This One I Made For Myself,

I've been making these costume dragon tails on commission for a few years now. This one I made for myself, though, and I wear it whenever costumes are appropriate.
Compared to some of the tails I've made recently for other people, it's pretty straightforward in terms of design. It's got black anodized aluminum scales on top with standard aluminum on the underside. They're woven together in a chainmail pattern with stainless steel rings. The only special thing on this one is a line of clips down the spine, which I put in so I could hook glowsticks all down the tail. (Sadly, I don't have any photos of it that.)
[Update: I got photos of it with glowsticks! Here they are!]

I was prompted to design this mask by a vague request by a friend who's involved in running an ongoing live-action role playing game that happens out in the woods somewhere. It may at some point pop up as part of a costume in that game.
The design I did as a sort of reference to "The Tyger" by William Blake. It's got lots of little flame shapes cut through to make the stripes, and some stitching to pull it into the right shape overall.
It's available on my Etsy store!

Planning the pattern for a somewhat complex dragon tail commission. This one will involve 5 different colors of anodized titanium, which the commissioner special-ordered from the manufacturer, plus stainless steel on the underside. The titanium colors are all kind of irregular and iridescent-looking. Really cool looking. I'll have to grab a photo of them.

Of the masks I've designed, this sea dragon mask has been everyone's favorite. I use a computer-controlled laser cutter to cut the design out of a big sheet of leather, which means I can design it with lots of tiny little details that would be impractical to cut by hand. I then stain the leather and wet-form it to shape by hand.
I sell these masks over on my Etsy shop.

This dragon tail commission was pretty straightforward compared to others I've done recently. It's made of anodized aluminum, primarily green, with an underbelly of brown and a single line of brown down the spine. As always, the scales are linked together with stainless steel rings in a chainmail pattern. This one is 30 inches long, slightly smaller than my default length. Good for someone who's a bit shorter than I.
I had a lot of fun getting photos of it swinging around.
Daylight Savings Time meant that it was dark by the time I was able to get photos taken, but oh well. I'll be shipping this out to the commissioner tomorrow.

I made this tiny top hat last week for a Mad Hatter costume, which was a great success.
Sadly, I didn't get any photos of it the day I was wearing the costume. And I still haven't had a chance to do so, because I've been busy getting ready for a craft fair I'm vending at on Saturday. So I guess if this doesn't sell then, I'll take some time to photograph it and put it up for sale on my Etsy page.
