Times, where Bucky wanted to scowl at Sam for interrupting him, were more common than any average person could come to guess.

This time was no different, and initially, Bucky hadn’t even heard his friend call his name as he found himself too preoccupied with exploring the smallest fractions of details outlining themselves in your eyes as you looked at him. Your head rested comfortably against his shoulder as your lips formed a tender smile, and Bucky was merely left to fall under the enchantment.

The night was restless. Every time you were about to doze, Steven rolled over again and took you. Just as fervent as the first time. In a way, it was easier but it hurt just the same. You were tender still and he only seemed encouraged by your squirms and squeals. You slept for an hour before the sun rose and when it did, it seared your eyes and threatened to crack your skull.

You could not be more excited as you sat on the rug of the toddler classroom with Linc, waiting for Steve to come pick up. The boy was happily stacking some of the big, soft blocks on top of each other to form a tower, abruptly knocking it over with a swift movement of his hand while maniacally laughing, then starting all over again. Your heart felt full from watching him and from knowing that you and Steve were about to set up your first date. Well, perhaps it was a little more casual than a date, but you still preferred to call it that considering he had confessed his own feelings for you, too. 

However, when he and Tiana walked into the room together holding hands, your mouth almost dropped open.

series summary:  you are a college student working at a daycare full time during your summer break, and you have grown especially fond of one of the toddlers in your class, lincoln rogers. you are certainly not expecting to develop such a huge crush on his dad steve when you meet him for the first time, but you can’t help but be attracted to the businessman– despite the fact that he’s married. however, as intelligent and mature as steve comes across, he has a few secrets behind his marriage- one in particular he may never be able to make up for.

It was 6:05 PM and Steve had still not shown up, despite the daycare technically closing at 6. It was not too rare for some parents to run late, especially with rush hour traffic, and so you were not too worried. It wasn’t like you ever got to leave right at 6 anyways, considering you had to clean up and shut down the room.

It was only you and Linc in the room; Stephanie and the other children had left. The only people in the building were you and the director of the center, who was really only still there because she locked up the place after everyone was gone. Linc was starting to get fussy; his mother normally picked him up at five, and it was clear that the extra hour of being there was tiring him, especially after having seen every other child leave with their mothers and fathers. He was currently snuggled up to you on your lap as you sat against some pillows in the little cozy “library” area of the room, holding onto you tight with his head buried in your chest, whimpering every now and then while simultaneously dozing off.

The laughter rumbling in Bucky’s chest was a result of your contagious giggles, and there was no preventing the sound from running past his lips as you pushed his hoodie over his head, trying to cover his eyes as you both made way down the crowded street.

“People are gonna recognize you,” you said through a heartfelt chuckle, and Bucky tipped his head upwards to be able to look ahead under the way you were attempting at covering his eyes.
