This is my main blog. I do have a few side blogs for my writing and crafting (and my cat). Originally, this was a sims 2 blog, but now I post about reading and just about anything I’m thinking. I hope you’ll join me! I’m going to try to be more consistent in 2023.

The Kims Were Pretty Fun To Play. There Wasnt A Lot Of Story Again, But Thats Okay With Me. I Think Theyre

The Kims were pretty fun to play. There wasn’t a lot of story again, but that’s okay with me. I think they’re the perfect family for this kind of challenge. because their odd behavior can (mostly) be explained by the fact that they’re just coming out of show business. They have no idea how the real world works.

I also love how in love Robert and Cynthia are. They may not understand how to take care of a dog or a kid, but they love each other, and that counts for a lot with me.

Robert does bug me, though. I noticed his lack of emotion when I was queueing up the pictures and it’s just...putting me off of him. Maybe he’s the kind of guy who only really cares about his wife, but he just bugs me. At least he and Cynthia will make pretty babies?

Cynthia really is gorgeous, and I think she’s got a bit more of a clue than her husband does about how this “real life” thing works. (Although she was pretty insensitive with Denise during the welcome wagon thing...) I’ll be interested to see how she does as a mom once the baby gets here. She’s not all that interested in Justin at the moment...

Luckily, Justin is a very self-reliant and resilient kid. I really do love him a lot, and I think he’ll be the best at adjusting to “real life” out of the three Kims. (Not counting Gabby the dog of course.) He really is an animal lover and I’m glad I put him in charge of the pets. I want to see how he’ll do with a baby sibling coming. Will he be a good big brother or a bad one?

Gabby reminded me constantly of why I don’t play with dogs very often in this game. Playing with cats I’ve gotten used to, and at least they’re self-cleaning and all that. Gabby was a handful! At least at first. I think Justin managed to convince her that chewing up the furniture was not a good idea. She did get stinky pretty easily, though, which was why she had to have a bath. Maybe it’s because I’m a cat person in real life too, but I like the cats at the Kat house better than Gabby...

Anyways, I had a lot of fun with the Kims and I’m looking forward to seeing them around town and playing with them again next round.

End of Round 1
Yay! We’re done with Round 1 of Bluewater Challenge 2016!!!
I had so much fun playing this! I liked trying to find a balance between what i’d done before and trying new things. I loved the stories that developed. I did get frustrated with some of the families but overall it was just a lot of fun!

Originally I was going to include the SSU premades as well, but a variety of circumstances have changed my mind on that. Instead, let me welcome you to Bright Lake University, which is the uni we’ll be using for this challenge from now on. I “built” it using a few premade lots, a couple of lots that I built, and a bunch of the lots that @penig created for her Land Grant University. (I would have just used LGU, but I wanted a slightly different neighborhood layout. I really like the lots Peni created, though, so I hope it’s okay that I copy/pasted them into a new hood. They really are fantastic and I can’t wait to send sims to them.) I’ll give you more of a campus tour once Melody Tinker is at University. (That’ll probably be after Round 2.)

I made all the SSU premades into dormies, so hopefully they’ll show up and Melody can get to know a few of them. I still want them to be in the Bluewater story, but the prospect of adding so many more sims to the playable rotation (among other issues) convinced me that this was the right way to go.
In the meantime, let’s review where everyone left off in Round 1 and then we’ll jump into Round 2 of Bluewater Challenge 2016!

“Welcome to the office,” Malcolm said, continuing his tour guide voice. “This room is the heart of the manor’s lower floor, as it is the room where the legacy heir performs some of his legacy duties. If you look to your left, you can see the actual desk of legacy heir Malcolm Landgraab IV, including the phone where he takes important calls.”
Abby tilted her head coyly, her eyes wide in mock astonishment. “Amazing! What kinds of duties does this legacy heir perform in here?”
Malcolm laughed. “Mostly he takes calls from his employees at his businesses,” he said. “And from other annoying people. And sometimes, when he has the time, he calls places like restaurants or his bank to get ready for dates with his lovely girlfriend.”
“Why would he call the bank for his girlfriend?”
“There are...items in storage there that he might be considering taking out for her one day.”
“Ooh! How intriguing! I don’t know what room could possibly top this one!”

I tried @dramallamadingdang‘s little CAS meme of randomizing 8 times and seeing what comes up. I got Yvonne. She’s going to be a college student at the campus near Bluewater.

They turned the topic to other things and finished the rest of their meal.
“Since we missed the movie at the theater, do you want to come back to my place and watch something?” Malcolm asked as they got up. “I’ve got a bunch of DVDs, or we could get something on SimFlix, if you want.”
“Sure.” Abby grinned. “You know, I haven’t actually been to your house. I’m kind of excited to see it.”
“It’s nothing special,” Malcolm said.
“Of course not,” she laughed. “You’re just the heir to the local legacy. Why would your house be anything special? I bet you have a robot butler and a secret crime-fighting lair in the basement, right? Right?”
“Even if I did, I wouldn’t be able to tell you about it,” Malcolm said. “I’d have to deny it to keep my alter ego safe. Don’t go all plucky girl reporter on me, okay?”
“I’m glad you think I’m plucky!”

Business at the Electronics Super Store was really booming.
