I’m not seeing enough people talk about Nerdy Prudes Must Die. Like, the song. Jon’s and Will’s performance there.

With each Hatchetfield musical, I’ve been able to pinpoint when I got the “oh fuck” horror-feeling. The moment where I actually felt like what I was watching was horror. “Nerdy Prudes Must Die” was that moment for me in NPMD.

Jon’s acting was phenomenal. Not just his body acting, but the way he literally convinced me he was a terrified kid. A terrified kid faced with the consequences of his peer-pressured actions, who only just started experiencing being liked and valued as who he is, and the realization that he’s going to be murdered and can’t escape it. The way he ran and crawled and begged.

“Please, nonononono, Max, please.”

And something about him begging for his life while his friends and classmates loomed in darkness in the background hit me hard, too.

The entire aura of the song was just sinister despite the few jokes it had and Max being, well, Max. Will’s acting went hard, too. Especially during the “will you pray for me” bit, where he looked borderline sympathetic towards Ritchie but in such a disingenuous way.

Not to mention the song fucking slaps.

This was all jumbled, but something something- sitting there and watching this kid run and fight and beg for his life, knowing the thing coming after him won’t stop no matter what and is incapable of reason, and being unable to do anything but let it happen got to me.
