I need a RWBY Chibi episode centered on Cinder’s birthday. She celebrates it by shopping (without paying), ruining everybody’s day and being unapologetically mean. She’s literally painting the town red. This is her day, and, nobody, not even a certain girl in a red hood will ruin it for her. Meanwhile, Emerald is going crazy at home. She’s setting up Cinder’s party, making sure streamers are balloons, gifts, even streamers hanging from the ceiling. She wants the best for Cinder. She’s even baked a cake, having gone as far as to take lessons from grand master of baking Lie Ren. Emerald has to bat Mercury away from the cake as he whines and pleads to eat the cake.
So we have Cinder destroying Junior’s club, being a menace worse than Yang in the Yellow Trailer, without a care in the world. Meanwhile it’s ten PM and Emerald is still waiting for Cinder, cake still not eaten or touched, while Mercury grouches next to her.
“Am I forgetting something?” Cinder wonders as she sets a building on fire.
“Oh, come on,” Mercury whines, resting his chin on the table like a petulant puppy. “She’s probably forgotten all about the party you spent all month telling her about.”
By the time Cinder gets home, it’s midnight. Her birthday is over. When Emerald runs up to her, bouncing like an excited child, Cinder merely talks over her about the wonderful birthday she’s had but she’s tired now and needs some rest.
“Sooo ....” Mercury says, seeing the plain heartbreak on Emerald’s face. “Can I eat the cake now?”
“Yeah, sure, whatever.”
“Cool! I’ve never had a birthday cake before!”
“Seriously?”
“Seriously.”
But just as Mercury is about to make the first slice, Emerald stops him, much to Mercury’s irritation. “Wait,” she says, lighting the candles on the cake. “Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Mercury. Happy birthday to you.”
And Mercury stares blankly at Emerald. And he lets her have this. He lets himself have this before nobody has ever sang happy birthday for him before.
He’s not sure if that make the first bite all the more sweeter.
