"You two are still at it?" Asmo whines, throwing his head back for a full effect on the groan of annoyance. No one spoke, but the other brothers looked to MC and Satan sitting at opposite ends of the table- glaring at each other. "It's been 3 days, whatever happened could you two just make up already?!"

MC ignores him, scarfs down the rest of their food and pushes away from the table, "Finished. I'm heading out early."

"Slob," Satan mutters as they walk past.

MC kicks his chair, "snob."

"Quit it, both of you." Lucifer sighs into his coffee before taking a sip. "Is a quiet morning really too much to ask for?"

It was too much to ask for because now even the other RAD students had begun to notice how cold the exchange student and 4th lord were to each other. That alone would have been managable, but now that Barbatos and Lord Diavolo were asking Lucifer about it he couldn't just wait it out. Lucifer stayed late to put the final touches on the ball's itinerary for tonight, but the second he was done he made his way back to the house of lamantation and tracked Satan down in the library.

" I don't care what this is about, but I won't have you two making a fool of Lord Diavolo with this petty dispute tonight," Lucifer berates him. "If you fail to make up with MC by the start of the ball-.”

"There's no need for petty threats. Since I'm the bigger person I wrote MC an apology and left it-" Satan doesn't get to finish his sentence as the letter in question clocks him on the back of the head with a sloshing sound. It falls to the table in front of him and out rolls the half filled water bottle.

"That apology wasn't worth the paper it was inked on." Mc sneers and turns to leave the room, but a book slams into the doorway, just beside their head. Mc stops in their tracks, pivoting back to Satan.

" You've really let this exchange program go to your head, let me remind you who you live with human." A menacing aura starts to surround Satan, but instead of making a run for it, MC picks up the book that he'd thrown and gets ready to retaliate.

"ENOUGH!" Lucifer slams his hands down on the table, causing MC and Satan turning to look at him. "Honestly I expected better from you MC."

" And you," he gives Satan a pointed glare. "Really? We agreed to make this program go as smoothly as possible, even if the humans are being unbearably annoying."

"I'm still in the room!" MC waves in his face, but Lucifer ignores them.

"Shut it. Since this ball is just a formality, I'm forbidding you BOTH from attending. I'll make up an excuse for the time being but you'll both be expected to apologize to Lord Diavolo in person tomorrow. And seeing as I'll be running late," he says with a quick glance at his wristwatch, "I'll decide on your punishments tomorrow morning."

MC and Satan both complain but Lucifer ignores them- and then ignores Mammon and Beel’s complaints and attempts to stay home. Even when Mammon argued that Satan could kill MC while they were gone, Lucifer didn’t budge and herded the rest of the brothers out the door. Satan and MC stood at opposite ends of the foyer, glaring at each other and listening to Mammon’s grumbling fade into the night.

After a few minutes of silence, Mc walks slowly over to Satan and whispers, “Are we good?”

“Give it another minute in case they turn back,” he mutters softly. “They’ll be able to hear us until they’re past the gates so just be quiet.” MC rocks back and forth on their feet, taking a minute to really appreciate the beauty of the foyer when Satan finally says, “we’re good, they’re not coming back at this point.”

"High five!" MC slaps Satan's hand, careful not to be too loud in case one of the brothers magically reappeared. Satan snorts and keeps holding MC's hand, swinging it between them while they head back to the library.

"I have to admit this little scheme is ingenious. Convoluted, but ingenious none the less,” Satan sweeps the door open and leads MC inside. “The water bottle in the note for weight was a nice touch by the way, it made your anger more convincing."

"It didn't hurt right?" MC, stops themself from checking Satan's head for bumps. Satan shakes his head.

"That's good. Thank you again for agreeing to do this with me Satan. I'm still not totally comfortable walking around when everyone's home," MC picks a book they've had their eye on for a while before heading to their favorite couch. "And I could use a little break from the frenzy, you know?"

"I should be thanking you, MC," Satan puts the discarded books back on the desk and grabs the one he was reading before taking a seat on the chair across from MC. "You gave me the perfect excuse to miss the event and catch up on my reading." He opens his book for a moment but turns back to look at MC, "ah, I also wanted to apolgize though. I'm sorry that we've made you feel like you can't be seen around the house without one of us present."

"No no, it's more on me, really," MC waves off his apology. "I was the same in the apartment I split with others and even in my own house. I'll get use to it in time, probably." The last word was a mumble, and Satan graciously ignored it for MC's sake.

"Let me know if there's anything I can do to make your stay here better; I can rough up my brothers if they won't stop bothering you." MC laughs at the thought, but is quick to catch themselves and give a fake cough.

"Careful or they'll think you're sweet on the human," MC smiles to themselves, trying to get more comfortable on the couch.

"Would that be so bad?"

MC jolts, but when they look up, Satan's nose is buried in his book. Hmm. Yeah, probably imagined it. MC goes back to their own reading, but they could swear Satan was glancing over at them every so often.
