The fact that there are still so many people willing to defend the Rite of Tranquility is absolutely mind boggling to me. I'm sorry (actually, I'm not sorry) but there is no defense for it.

It does not matter if the mage consents to it. I can't even rightfully defend the idea that any mage would give genuine consent to such a horrid practice. It's not consenting if the individual is agreeing out of fear, and we should all know by now that there's no real reason for a mage to agree to tranquility other than out of pure fear.

Nearly every mage you encounter is absolutely terrified by the idea of being made tranquil. We all saw how Jowan reacted to the threat of it. Not to mention that most tranquil mages are either used as work cattle or are sexually abused by Templars, the order that is supposedly there to protect them.

It's disgusting. It's revolting. There's no room to play devil's advocate here.
