As we venture further and further into season 14, it’s important to fall back on fluffy fanfiction to falsely reassure ourselves that everything is fine. :D
Words: 2525
Jack tries to make his family's Father's Day the very best. Nothing's perfect, but Sam finds that it's pretty darn close.
The Newsletter
Summary: "What, does he have a freaking newsletter or something?" -Dean Winchester
Yes. Yes he does.
As soon as I heard Dean say that line I knew I had to write something about it.
Wordcount: 1393 - Read it here: <3
Don't you just love it when Sam gets angry and hurt by people and he confronts them? Like he did in the finale with Chuck. I love seeing him like that, because it’s not that common. From the beginning of the series, Sam’s been the rational one, the one who believed in people, the one who was compassionate, the one who gave people second chances. Mary couldn't bear to look at Nick after Lucifer was killed, and yet, Sam Winchester, who was tortured in ways no one could imagine, helped him. Sam has that thing about him, like Dean used to say how he couldn't see any light at the end of the tunnel, but he knew Sam could.
Sam has always forgiven people, and he always seems so calm and collected, but sometimes he can’t take it anymore, and he lets his heart be his guide and his mind takes the back seat.
Scenes like the one with Chuck and the one where Dean tells him he’s going to pull the trigger, truly show how much Sam has grown over the years. He doesn't take crap from anyone.
Another thing about the confrontation scene was how heartbroken Sam was. He always prayed to God, or the angels, or anyone who was listening, because he believed they could help. That maybe someone else could take care of the world’s problems for once.
I’m gonna stop now because Sam makes me emotional. Bye..
I have two theories.
I have two insanely massive, huge theories about Nick.
#1:
We all saw how Gabriel died towards the end of season 13. He got stabbed with an archangel blade. An archangel blade kills both the archangel AND the host/vessel, right? Well, when Lucifer got stabbed we saw him burn out... but in season 14, his vessel, Nick is apparently still alive. I know some ppl think that Lucifer is pretending to be Nick, but I have a whole different spin on the thing to offer.
•
What If the archangel blade was a fake?
•
Remember when Lucifer took Jack and Sam to that church, and said one had to stab the other? By that time, Lucifer had stolen Jack’s grace, leaving him basically human. What if Lucifer gave them a fake blade because now that Jack and Sam were BOTH human, whether the blade was fake or not it would have killed them anyway? I know that doesn’t explain Michael still using it and not feeling it be fake, or maybe he was too wrapped up thinking about overtaking Dean that he didn’t realize. But it would make some (if not a lot) of sense.
#2:
Lucifer got stabbed after he stole Jack’s grace.
.
If it was indeed a real archangel blade, then maybe the combo of Archangel and Nephilim grace would’ve protected him. What if the whole spectacle of Lucifer dying, with the fire and everything - was just that? A light show? Then, maybe after everyone thought he was dead, he somehow got into heaven and retrieved Nick’s soul? That would explain why “Nick” killed that dude at the end of episode 3 (or was it 4?). The question is though: why would Nick leave his heaven, where he still has his wife and kids, to come to Earth and let Lucifer use him again? Maybe Lucifer made a deal that he would let Nick look for who killed his family as long as he let Lucifer in again. This could be a form of torture somehow, because apparently Nick killed his family whilst being possessed by Lucifer. If that was the case, it would be a whole lot of fun for Lucifer, because he would let Nick look for his family’s murderer, while Lucifer knows that Nicks the one who did it. Lucifer would also be allowed to infiltrate the bunker without anybody knowing. Maybe the combination of The Archangel Grace™️ and Nephilim Grace™️ would let him hide from everyone else inside Nicks body, and will explain how Cas felt ‘traces’ of Lucifer inside Nick. That could just be parts of Lucifer’s grace not completely hidden.
.
This was tiring to write 😂
See y’all soon ✅
I see people who say that Dean’s crying is just an excuse for the ‘atrocious thing he’s about to do’. I’ve also seen a post that says to post and reblog with pictures and gifs of instances of where Sam or Dean have suffered or been hurt. I truly don’t hate Dean, or Sam, I love every single person on this show except Metatron and Naomi, and I don’t have a favorite character (favoritism is overrated anyway), so I am completely unbiased when I say this:
-
Yes, Sam shouldn’t have gone along with Dean’s ‘plan’ to shut Jack in the box. Tbh, I completely forgot that the ep was called ‘Jack in a box’ because I was completely surprised when Dean plotted to throw Jack in there, though i can forgive myself as I’ve never seen Dean as that kind of person.
-
I’m kinda asking the writers right now ‘where did you hide Sam’s backbone? Is it on the black market?’ because they’ve completely made Sam into a giant with no spine. Now, I know that in ep 18, Sam defended Cas about the snake thing, he took his part in the blame. I love Sam, always have, always will, but will it kill the writers to make him stand up a little? He did protest against Deans idea, but when push came to shove he went with it. I just wish he outright said no. I’m pretty sure most of us do too.
-
Some people think that putting Jack in the box was the right thing to do. Oh sure, put aside the facts that he is two years old, was manipulated by an angel who convinced him that he would please Sam and Dean, was trying to do what he thought was the right thing (it’s so hard to do your best in a world where it’s easier to do your worst), and explained that the Mary thing was an accident (he kept trying to warn her away, and Mary kept pushing). Then you’re golden.

Why did Sam and Dean not include Cas on this mega decision, which is all about Jack? He is, after all, his appointed father. I think it’s because they knew Cas would never agree with them, with the plan. And I was proven right towards the end. Did anyone else notice how Jack had his phone with him? He had the flash on while he was talking to Hallucifer, and you can’t have that without a battery percentage, so that meant his phone wasn’t dead. I was just thinking ‘why not call Cas and ask him to get you out?’. But then I realized that Jack probably thought that Cas was in on the whole ‘locking him up’ plan, and that he had no one to turn to. Even though he had his phone, he thought he was well and truly alone, and that saddens me.

SEASON 14 SPOILER WARNING
The doors to the bunker burst open. Sam looked up to find Castiel. His face was nothing but intense worry and his chest was heaving as a human’s might after running a marathon. He staggered to the railing and gripped it, his knuckles white.
“Where is he?” Cas asked, panic in his deep voice. Sam gulped down his own guilt at not having told the angel before…
“You alright, Cas?”
“I can hear him. Where is he?” Cas stumbled down the stairs and braced himself against the walls of the bunker as he made his way to Dean’s room. He didn’t have the patience for doors. He raised a hand and blasted the door off of its hinges.
“Cas!” Sam yelled but Cas was hearing something else. The angel was on his knees, his hands on his head as he sobbed.
“Dean!” Cas was visibly shaking. Sam had never seen him like this. If he was honest, he was scared seeing Cas like this. “I can’t feel him, Sam!”
“What do you mean?”
“I can always feel him,” Cas choked, his hands on his chest as if to illustrate that their hearts were tethered. “I can’t feel him! Where is he?!”
“He’s gone,” Sam said, his voice cracking on the last word. Cas closed his eyes. His movements stopped. His entire body was still like Sam had snapped him out of it. This was more worrying. Cas slowly stood and turned to face Sam, his face lined with grief and fear.
“I can hear him,” Cas said in a voice that could cut diamonds. “Tell me where he is.”
Cas! The sound of Dean Winchester’s voice rang out in Castiel’s head. I’m so sorry, Cas.
His heart was gripped with terror. The words were strained and sounded as if they were coming through gritted teeth.
“What do you mean you can hear him?” Sam gulped.
Cas. Cas. Cas.
“I’m here,” Castiel said aloud despite knowing Dean couldn’t hear him. Sam’s eyebrows knitted as he watched the angel. Cas closed his eyes and exhaled slowly.
It’s just me. It’s just me. It’s just me.
“Something is blocking me from being able to locate him,” Cas said, starting to shake again.
“There were sigils on the box but I didn’t think-”
“Box?” Castiel’s eyes snapped open, his eyes very focused. Sam took a step away from Cas, obviously afraid. “Dean’s in a box?”
“Dean’s in a box,” Sam nodded.
“Sam Winchester, tell me where Dean is or I will hurt you.” The words were cold and said quickly. He wasn’t bluffing. His heart was in his eyes. Sam swallowed.
“He’s in a box at the bottom of the Atlantic,” Sam answered in a rush when Cas took a threatening step toward him. He blinked and the angel was gone.
Why am I still fighting? I could let him take over and he’d be trapped. I just want to say goodbye to you. I didn’t think I could handle saying goodbye to you. I regret it.
“Don’t say goodbye,” Cas said, staring out over the ocean.
He’s going to kill me.
“I can fix this,” Cas answered. He knew Dean couldn’t hear him but a man could hope.
Okay. I’m going to say goodbye.
“Don’t!” Cas yelled. A mother with her two children on the beach gave Cas a worried look and ushered her children further away from him. He ignored it, his heart scanning the ocean for it’s second half.
Cas…
“Don’t you dare, Dean Winchester,” Cas said, frantically searching for a box in the ocean. Found it.
Under the water, Cas gripped the box.
I’m an idiot. I fell in love with an angel.
“What?” Cas wanted to scream but he was too busy trying to scrape off the wardings. They were etched into the metal expertly. He cursed his hunter.
I let everything keep me away from you. I let myself lie to you. I let myself lie to me. I love you, Castiel.
“Dean,” the word formed on his lips but nothing came out but bubbles. He pounded on the coffin with his fists.
That pounding better not be you, Cas. You can’t save me. Not this time. This time, I’m saving you.
“I’m here,” Cas tried to answer. His fingers pried helplessly at the edges of the coffin. He kicked and punched and begged. Nothing happened.
Just live knowing you had me. You had me when you burst in that barn. You were so beautiful that night. You were nothing that I was expecting and everything that I needed.
“Stop saying goodbye! Dean!”
Suddenly, Cas was no longer in the ocean or under water. He was in a circle painted on the floor of the bunker’s dungeon. Sam stood in front of him with the summoning bowl. The floor was covered in the water from the sea.
“Dammit, Sam!” Cas sobbed.
Sam stared at Cas. The angel was broken. His fingers were broken and bleeding. He was covered in water, his dark hair dripping and plastered to his face. He was obviously crying, his entire body wracked with sobs.
“Why am I here?” Cas asked from the floor. His eyes seemed bluer as he stared up at Sam.
“I can’t trust you. Not right now.” Sam shook his head sadly and locked Cas into the dungeon. The angel threw himself at the locked door, startling Sam.
“I love him!” Cas screamed, his hands prying at the door. Sam turned and looked at the door. “I can hear him, Sam!”
“He told me about a book,” Sam said through the door. “I didn’t read it but I put it in there for you.”
“Sam!” Cas screamed as Sam retreated.
Cas! Dean’s voice gasped, as if emerging from the water.
“Dean!” Cas shouted. Sam could hear him. It had been a year and this was the first time in six months that this had happened. Every time it did, Sam had to drag Cas back to the dungeon, the energy to try to rescue Dean suddenly renewed.
Cas! It hurts! Help me!
“No!” Cas screamed as Sam and Jack dragged him through the bunker. His eyes lit bright blue and Jack countered, shoving his father into the wall, his own eyes bright yellow. Sam watched them struggle, powerless.
“He needs me!” Cas sobbed, falling to the floor. Sam dragged him the rest of the way to the dungeon. “He’s in pain!”
Cas… It sounded like Dean was weeping. The sound was new. Before it was all anger or defeat. He was finally crying. Cas slammed Sam into the wall and before Jack could catch up to stop him, he was back at the beach.
“Dean!”
Remember…? Remember how you said you would be there forever? To watch me kill the world?
Cas was tired. He whispered, “Yes.”
I saved you from that. We’ll live forever side by side, unable to touch or talk. Forever.
Cas knelt down and placed the flowers on Sam’s grave. Jack put a hand on Cas’ shoulder.
“You can hear him, can’t you?” Jack asked gently. Over the years, it had continued and eventually Cas had learned to stop going to the beach. Cas didn’t answer, listening to Dean’s monologue instead. He looked toward the ocean even though it was over a thousand miles away.
“I’ll drive,” Jack said, taking the keys to the Impala from Cas.
“It’s been sixty years since I’ve been to see him,” Cas said, his voice grating. Jack winced at the anguish he could hear. “I need to see him,” Cas said softly.
“You haven’t seen him in seventy,” Jack corrected. “You only ever see his prison.”
“I need him.”
I need you, Cas.
The voice was calling him to the ocean once again, like a siren or a mermaid. Cas came when he was called. He stood on the sand, his hair blowing in the wind as he stared over the blue water.
Castiel, Angel of the Lord.
“Dean Winchester, love of my life.” Cas answered so softly it couldn’t be heard over the wind.
It had been over a century. Every now and then, Dean would wake up suddenly and in pain. He would call out to Cas, his voice rough with pain and fear.
Let me know you’re still here. Dean begged. He was crying again. Cas listened.
“I always come when you call,” Cas promised silently, punching the coffin.
Cas.
“Hello, Dean.”
Imagine John assuming you and Dean are engaged and being excited for his son because he can see he loves you. So when he finds out you’re only friends, he takes matters into his own hands, only to embarrass Dean.
The silence felt deafening. Every small sound managed to make you flinch, although you tried to make it seem as less obvious as possible. You kept your eyes focused on the plate in front of you as much as you could, keeping yourself busy with eating because in reality you didn’t know what to say to make up for any of this. You didn’t even know what you could say that would be remotely appropriate too.
Your eyes kept finding their way – as per usual – towards Dean. You noticed the glass of whiskey by his hand and as per usual you wanted to tell him how it wasn’t good for his health, how he should lower it down a bit and most of the time he did listen to you, but you knew that this wasn’t a time for that. You bit back your tongue and held the words in your lips, though, because you knew how much he needed it this time. He needed it to keep him going, especially during this painful silence.
You knew this wasn’t how he had imagined it and it broke your heart to see the man you loved like this, even if he’d never know it.
You dared look somewhere else other than Dean or your food and your eyes found the older man in the room who was already looking around the table with a soft yet very emotional one on his lips. He also happened to be looking at you, clearly taking notice of the worry on your face that you didn’t even try to mask when you looked at Dean. His smile only got a bit bigger and you averted your eyes, looking down almost shyly. It was still a surprise how the older man seemed to figure out your feelings for the green-eyed Winchester faster than him. But the again the entire world probably already knew and Dean would still probably wonder – best case scenario.
