Remember How Dave Entertained The Idea Of Becoming A Paleontologist?

Remember how Dave entertained the idea of becoming a paleontologist?

DAVE: dead things are actually pretty rad DAVE: i feel like if i was legitmately into all this then more should have come of the interest [...] DAVE: maybe i could have really developed this interest DAVE: maybe i could have been something cool as a result [...] DAVE: i could have been a paleontologist DAVE: instead of what i became [...] DAVE: that would have been the dopeness!

Looks like he’s gone into a similar field---archaeology!

He’s searching for and excavating cultural artifacts (of JPEG artifact Liberties). That’s a new level of irony, too: recovering remnants of an ancient civilization created by his older (i.e. future) self from a parallel universe. It’s both figurative and literal layers upon layers of irony, which is so Dave. He’s combining his passions, and it’s beautiful. :’)

Dear Emma

New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles.

From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she

With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Oh my dear Emma, you've wasted some fine words and noblest sentiments on an object that represents nothing more than a lie.

I can't explain how or why but this very intensely strikes me as something Fortress Maximus would do.

thinking about an absolutely massive bot somehow winding up on earth, not knowing where they are, but seeing the Statue of Liberty and scanning the amounts of copper and thinking it must be another bot. But the bot leans up against the statue like “heyyyyy babe that copper sulfate’s a nice color on ya. ya come here often? If you could help a bot out and tell him what planet he’s on… heh, musta’ had a trip so bad I landed in the wrong sector.”

Obviously the statue doesn’t respond, and he raises a brow. “That’s fine, that’s fine! Not the talkative type, I getcha. I’ll just, uh… look around. Thanks.” He starts wading through the ankle height-water, thinking it may be a good idea to get to land. Now it’s just a matter of if he’ll notice the organic lifeforms on the mainland…
