Sonic Prime Spoilers - Tumblr Posts
Actually frothing at the mouth right now

GUYS GUYS IM LOSING MY FUCKIN SHIT
A couple things about Sonic Prime that disappointed me
1. Shadow was in almost the entire trailer, but showed up for 3 out of the 7 episodes
2. An action scene that lasted for three episodes. It got redundant
3. There was an entire plot point where Sonic was dying from the prism energy being taken from him. This took 3 minutes of screen time and the risk felt minimal if it was there at all
4. No consequences = no stakes (literally there was no issue or "sacrifice" that came out of repairing the prism. Idk what i was hoping for, but the fact that everything was so easily fixed kinda hurt my feelings because it made the entirety of season 2 seem completely pointless and dumb)
5. Shadow was super protective of Sonic in the first episode, but never showed that same "Would kill and die for you in a seconds notice" energy he had in that first episode
6. The chaos emerald is mentioned again but never used as a plot point. Chekov's Gun is fake, apparently
7. It's said that Sonic can't exist in the Shatterspace without prism energy, but Shadow never had it in the first place. There is no provided explanation as to why this makes sense. The closest thing was "shadow wasn't there during the blast" but that only explains why he doesn't have the energy, not why he doesn't need it to live like Sonic does (I assume the others have at least a signature of it too which is why they cloned and Shadow didn't. Again this is unexplained in Prime. What does the prism energy even do for/to the supporting cast)
8. Why are there only 7 episodes? Why do they take up so much time in one place?
9. Rouge and Shadow only had one line of dialogue (this isn't a genuine critique I just wanted to see my favorite duo be a duo)
10. Sonic's Prism "Super Form" doesn't come back. Shadow doesn't get anything like that either. Another dud Chekov Gun. Why is this dumb little anecdotal metaphorical firearm never firing
I really loved the new season, and it was great and super fun, but those critiques really ruined some things because those were all things I thought would be a guarantee because of the trailer and because of how the other seasons were.
Why would they even bother to mention the chaos emerald, and this weird void thing if it wasn't going to be essential to the plot other than being an excuse to sideline Shadow. They could have just as easily said that chaos energy is neutralized in cyberspace because it's not connected to the world/chaos/master emerald. That works too!
Plus, why was Shadow sidelined so much? What's the reason? Why wasn't he allowed to use chaos energy and go apeshit? Why couldn't he take off his inhibitor rings in a desperate situation to protect Sonic and be able to teleport into shatterspaces even at the expense of his health?
I know it's a TV-Y7 show. It honestly did not need to be, but I'm sure it was a Netflix mandate to make sure their animation is all meant for kids and only kids, but they really ended up nerfing themselves by alienating their more passionate audience which would be teenagers and adults. Just make it TV PG that would've allowed you to work with higher stakes and a higher budget (oh wait that's what Netflix's intention was nevermind).
If you wanna see me make a list of things I genuinely liked, feel free to ask or comment that. I might do so anyway. I feel like the internet is too negative and critiques of shows tend to do too much of that, so sorry for contributing to that culture, but I really needed to get that disappointment out because it bothered me quite a bit. Feel free to disagree too, or say "bro it's a kids show. It's not that deep. Stop having passion and emotions for your special interests you dumb fuck" I get it. Anyways, good show, good season, highly recommend, it's very fun and enjoyable especially if you're a fan of Sonic
Last minute edit: I only saw the season once and my sense of media literacy isn't by any means perfect, and also, to clarify, most of my concern isn't quite "these plot points are 1000% absent and terrible" and more "I thought the distribution between the action scene in episodes 4-7 and the rest of the season's story was very poor and made the content I was more excited for seem watered down/unplanned/super easily resolved". Again the part of the show where Sonic almost dies because of the prism energy withdrawal was about 3 minutes long. Why did it feel so low-stakes?? I love action scenes. They're great, but when you dedicate over 30 minutes to one long fight scene, it becomes less interesting and there's still MORE OF THE SHOW TO GET THROUGH so those parts got super rushed

THEY FORGOT HIS HAIR IN THIS ENTIRE SEQUENCE HE'S BALD!!!! YOU CAN SEE THE INDENT WHERE ITS MEANT TO COME OUT

new super form, New Super Form, NEW SUPER FORM?!

Also I'm keeping an eye on the fact that the first shock of the Prism's energy made Sonic uncontrollably hyper and chatty while the second one gave him a laser-like focus and he didn't say a word until the power wore off

End of Sonic prime season 2
god. something about that expression they all make when they see another version of themselves gives me chills
Spoilers for Sonic Prime Season 3. Go watch it, it's awesome, and it's best to watch it blind.
Okay, I just watched Season 3 of Sonic Prime and I gotta gush about it. Mangy and Sails, man what they did with them was crazy. For a minute, I really thought they were dead. At first I was sure it was a fake out, but as I watched the next few episodes, I really began to think they actually killed them off, and that they might kill off other characters. I was actually pretty upset about it because their 'deaths' were unnecessary, and the characters didn't really grieve or acknowledge the loss after the initial shock, but now that I know I was right to begin with, I can't help but be impressed. The show is rated TV-Y7, you'd think your average adult viewer would be able to see a fake-out coming, but they really had me fooled, the writers of this show are incredible. Am I the only one who fell for the fake-out death? And those final two episodes were incredible, it was awesome to see everything come full circle, and Shadow got his damn fourth chaos emerald oh my gosh. This finale was pure gold. And oh. My. Goodness. The people joking about all the Sonadow bait are not kidding, especially right at the end, and even the Sonamy fans get a few sweet moments, the shippers are eating good with this one. It's so funny but so sweet and endearing at the same time, it never feels like cringy pandering or forcing the characters together, the interactions are genuine and heartwarming while still being in character, it feels natural. The Sonic Prime writers are nothing short of pure genius, I hope Sonic Prime wins some kind of television award because it is hands down one of the best shows in recent times.
I forgot to mention Nine. Man the way they handled him was great. The way he obsessed over getting Sonic, it created such an interesting parallel, especially with how possessive he was, out of context you'd think he simply wanted to keep Sonic for himself. And Nine completely losing his mind when he used the prism energy to the point where he became self-destructive, it's honestly really cool that we get to see Nine spiral like this, becoming so blinded by anger that, for all his intelligence, he couldn't see how he was destroying the thing he was trying to create, and not even caring about the physical toll it had on him, the writers had guts. And his facial expressions were hilarious, props to the animators. The best part is they were able to make Nine such a serious threat, basically turning him into a mad scientist, while also redeeming him in a way that didn't feel forced or fake. Honestly, the writers really knocked it out of the park with the way they handled Nine's character, I love it. Also, the Amys being sisters and everyone helping Sonic at the end is just too sweet and wholesome to ignore. I honestly have just one question left, what happened to the Shatterspaces? Are they still there, or did they all get assimilated to reform Sonic's true reality? That, and I wanna know if Shadow remembers anything, and how did he get his emerald back? An epilogue of some kind would be nice, but I doubt we'll get one.

I like how this post implies that his ghost will continuously be saying âshitâ

so if shadow is shattered into multiple versions now... what happens to the original?

Hey so did I

I paused it at a very funny moment

Sonic Prime theory
So while I had Sonic Prime rotating in my head last night I ended up making a discovery, and with it I think I figured out what the Grim is
Now the discovery I'm talking about is in the screenshot below. But, the gist of it is that every world we've seen, that's some kind of apocalyptic, has a theme that represents a specific character's worst traits amplified to hell in that theme.
In the post, I use the example of how Dread is both Knuckles and a pirate's worst traits in one.

----------------------
And this is interesting yes, but how could the Grim be a world?
Well something that I didn't mention is that Sonic's shoes and gloves change when he goes from one world to another.
Now, the Grim's acessories could be how Sonic always looks like when he goes through the void between worlds. And that woundn't make the Grim a world of it's own necessarily.
Except that is disproved in the last episode when Sonic just got out of the pirate world and is in the void with Shadow.

His shoes and gloves are still the same ones from there. They aren't the Grim ones.
And this leads to the question, whose world might the Grim be? I think it's Sonic.
When the PRISM shattered we got lines from all the characters that tie into the world and the version of them that's most prominent with it's theme.
Amy says the forest is a beautiful place - we get Thorn's extreme compassion of nature in the jungle world
Knucles says he doesn't need the details just who to smash - we get Dread who doesn't care for obstacles and other just his goals in the pirate world
Tails says as long as Sonic's with him he knows everything will be all right - we get Nine who, without Sonic, thinks everything is miserable in New Yoke City
We don't get a line from Sonic in this moment, but when the show starts we get a monologue from him that begins with a very interesting line. " Home is where your friends are". Then he continues to explain how even though he lives in Green Hills, which has so many good things, that's just the tip of the iceberg and what truly makes there special is his friends.
So what better world for him then the Grim. In which there is nobody. So even if it had some type of good enviroment in there it wouldn't matter, because his friends aren't there so it could never be home. So the Grim has nothing.
