i guess you are not too bad yourself

𝟏𝟎:𝟑𝟏, 𝐊𝐒𝐖 — “y/n.”
“y/n.”
“y/n.”
each whisper of your name is punctuated with a prod to your arm. your pen flicking between your fingers as you tried to focus on your work and not the insesent boy beside you.
you and sunwoo had been seatmates for a couple months now, new year meaning new classes and new teachers that just loved to sit students next to people they didn’t know.
well, sunwoo wasn’t exactly unknown to you, but was pretty much a stranger.
you had heard about sunwoo before; the popular guy around school, the football team’s best striker, everyone’s favourite lover boy to fawn over. he was well known to say the least, but that didn’t mean you were friends.
you started the year, of course, with all good intentions, hoping you would both get along well. but as weeks passed, that plan seemed to be failing.
every other second, sunwoo was doing his best to draw your attention away from your school work and towards him. you thought it would die down if you simply refused to comply but overtime, it only got worse. his actions grew needier, spreading out of the classroom and to the corridors where he shot you winks and insisted on carrying your books.
your friends said it was cute, you weren’t as endeared by it.
it’s not that you didn’t like sunwoo, god it was hard not to. but you just didn’t see the point in his “flirting”. you weren’t even sure that’s what it was — no matter how many times your friends tried to convince you that was.
“y/n.” the final, slightly more annoyed groan of your name finally had your eyes flicking from your work. “why are you so difficult?” the boy pouts, head resting on the desk at your stern expression. “difficult?” your voice heightens in pitch, you’re shocked— almost offended. “yes, difficult! and dense! god for someone so smart, you can be incredibly dense sometimes.” he shakes his head and all you can bring your self to do is furrow you’re eyebrows in confusion. “i—” your words fail you. in all honesty, you’re not sure how to react. “i’m dense?”
sunwoo looks up at you in pity, lips twisting in a pout. “i smile at you, i compliment your outfits, i carry your books, yet still— still you don’t seem to get it.” he huffs and you cock an eyebrow. “don’t seem to get what?” another question rolls past your lips and sunwoo looks as if he’s about to end it all.
“how do you not get that i like you?” the words finally erupt from his mouth, body swinging back in his chair in frustration.
“what?”
“i like you, you idiot. i like you a lot.” sunwoo states again, sitting forward to look you in the eye, this almost exasperated yet sincere expression printed on his face. “i—” you begin, but words seem to fail you. “really?” being the only shocked word to leave your mouth.
sunwoo nods, running his hand through his hair.
“oh.”
you acknowledge his confession once again, flicking your pen between your fingers, eyes flickering between the boy and the worksheet in front of you. “but why?” your head tilts once you decide to settle your attention on the boy instead.
a smile seems to pry at sunwoo’s lips as you ask the question, any annoyance dissipating from his body, a light chuckle emptying from his mouth. “because you’re you.” he points out as if it’s obvious. “you’re smart, and kind, and hardworking,” he sits up even straighter. “and you’re pretty.”
“oh.” you repeat, darting your vision to your paper as you feel your cheeks heat up and your own lips begin to quirk up. “i mean,” you hum quietly, “i guess you’re not too bad yourself.”
