(Personal note: I like a lot of weird versions of songs, sooo...yeah :D)

1) Under Pressure - The Magicians (S3E9): I love this song because a) it’s a really good song! b) it has this great secondary meaning with the episode and c) the actors actually sing and are fucking good! The whole series is very, very good and it’s on Netflix (so go watch!) and the third season took the whole EPIC QUEST thing and ran it in such fun places. Totally my jam!

2) Praying - Pentatonix: It’s a cover of Ke$ha’s beautiful song and I love it. Part of it is I love this group. That’ll become obvious soon enough. It’s just really great.

3) Hallelujah - Pentatonix: Again, a cover by a group I dearly love. This one I love very specifically because my daughter loves to sing it all the time. She sings along with them and is working on her pitch and vocal control. It just pleases me to no end that she loves to sing. 

4) Needing/Getting - Ok Go: Part of this is for the video. I won’t lie. Then again, almost every Ok Go song is enhanced by the video. The version I love the most is the one that comes from the video, in which the band uses a car to play a number of strange and unusual instruments. I gotta say, my favorite part is the drum sounds from the covered tubes. Yeah, go watch. You won’t be disappointed.

5) Somebody to Love - Queen: The Freddie Mercury biopic is coming out soon. And while I (like most of the rest of the planet) know much of Queen’s repertoire, I really fell in love with this song again recently. I love his voice. It makes me happy.

6) First Burn - Hamildrop: Oh, this is so good. If you love Hamilton, you are probably already listening to this. It takes bits from Burn, one of my favorite songs from the musical anyway, and makes it hurt and makes it sharp in ways that are so satisfying. I know about whispers/ I see how you look at my sister. 

7) We Fight - Dashboard Confessional: I picked this up from the League of Legends spring split finals. I love the spirit of the song as well as the sound. It’s very raw and determined. A great character song.

8) Django Jane - Jaenelle Monae: This is such a strong, powerful song, with lyrics that I am deeply in love with. I love songs where the words are so deliberate and perfect. I also think the video is just amazing. Jaenelle Monae is a goddess.

9) Legends Never Die - Against the Current: Another song from League of Legends promo videos. This game company is badass at picking good songs. This one is more harmonic, more melancholic, but still strong and pounding. I love it. 

10) Sorry Not Sorry - Pentatonix: Rounding out the list, I end on Pentatonix. First off, this song is so cute and poppy and fucking nails it. Doesn’t everyone want to make sure their ex regrets their decision? Hell yes. Plus Mitch and Scott sing some of the parts talking about wearing dresses and perfume and I love the gender switch :P.
