Rise Turtles' Taste in Music Headcanon

This is based on their style and interest in music from the episode “Al Be Back.” The episode is basically about them fighting Albeartos with the power of music.

Raphael: Adele, Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, and John Legend.

Donatello: Calvin Harris, Zedd, Galantis, Lady Gaga, Alesso, Daft Punk, Disclosure, Broadway Musicals.

Leonardo: Queen, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Journey, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin

Michelangelo: Missy Elliot, NF, Drake, Macklemore, Logic, Twenty One Pilot, Post Malone.

Because I have nothing better to do on a Monday night I present my guess on the ROTTMNT turtles rankings of each other as their fav brother

Spoilers ahead for seasons 1 & 2

So we have confirmed in the episode Lair Games that Donnie is Mikey’s 2nd favorite brother and Raph’s 3rd favorite. Which by probability would mean Donnie is likely Leo’s 1st favorite brother, however if probability isn’t enough for you I will present more evidence. 

In the Battle Nexus New York episode when the crab man insults his brothers Leo only announces to defend Donnie’s honor. In the episode the Hidden City Job Leo is constantly bringing up stories about him and Donnie specifically (along with the reason he’s even at Run of the mill pizza being a fight he had with Donnie). But what really seals the deal for me and hopefully you as well is in the episode Portal Jacked which also gives us the rest of Leo’s ranking list (most likely at least). See Leo famously says:

 “I need my brainy guy, and my smashy guy and my eats peanut butter with his fingers guy!”  

Now I find it would make sense that Leo would likely list his brother in order of favorite to 3rd favorite (no one is least favorite here just some one has to be 3rd lmao) which would make Leo’s final ranking list as follows

Whew! Okay one brother down 3 to go! Now for the rest of these I’m going to base them more on character interaction and character personalities rather than actual quotes like with Leo. So now we move on to Raph! 

Like I already stated Donnie is canonically 3rd!

Now based on Raph’s excessive protectiveness and fretting I have a feeling that Mikey is his 1st favorite brother. Not to mention with how much the two seem to be in proximity to each other. Which leaves Leo in 2nd and I have a feeling he’s there because Leo’s jokester/ laid back attitude in every situation gets under Raph’s skin not to mention he, like Donnie pulls Middle Child Nonsense™ so this puts him lower than Mikey who is the baby and can do no wrong. Now while I don’t have to reason Donnie being 3rd because it is canon I think it’s likely because of that Middle Child Nonsense™, not to mention Donnie and Raph are pretty opposite. Brain vs. Brawn, Not Touchy vs. Very Touchy (I mean Raph loves teddy bears to cuddle meanwhile Donnie tolerates hugs guys lol) Which means Raph’s final ranking list is!!

Next up is Mikey! Little baby boy! Now Mikey also has a canon ranking already as I said above with Donnie in 2nd place!

Now like I said for Raph’s, Mikey and Raph are in close proximity to each other a lot and while this could be just Raph hovering, Mikey also seems to be quite touchy with Raph which leads me to believe that Raph is Mikey’s 1st favorite. Not to mention there is something about the two who wear warm colors who also have really warm cuddly personalities getting along the best seems rather fitting. Which leaves Leo in 3rd! I would like to reiterate here that this doesn’t mean that 3rd place is hated or that 3rd place doesn’t get along/hang out with the ranker! Obviously all the turtles get along and love each other it just means that of their brothers some click a little better than others! I’m getting way too analytical about this lmao 

ANYWAY!

Finally we get to my favorite purple boy! (Can you tell I like Donnie by how completely extra this fucking post is with all it’s ramblings on reasoning for my rankings? lol) So Donnie! My emotionally unavailable bad boy (she said y’know like a liar) Now I am all about symmetry and also I am not willing to have one turtle not get a first place ranking! Which means Leo is going to get Donnie’s first place ranking but this also makes sense to me! I mean they’re the Disaster Twins™ and even putting away that fanon idea. Leo and Donnie are; the same age, both middle children, and spend WAY too much time insulting each other for that not to be mutual favoritism. Plus again I find it satisfying that the two cool color coded characters (try saying that 5 times fast) with the more witty, sarcastic personalities are each other’s favorite. It pleases my brain okay!! Moving on! I feel that the same reasoning applies to Raph as for why Donnie is likely 3rd on Raph’s list. I mean I can’t even think of an episode with just Raph and Donnie? Like I can think of ones with just Donnie and Leo, Donnie and Mikey, Donnie and April, but not Donnie and Raph?? They’re just very different which leaves each of them in 3rd place on each other’s lists.

Which leaves Mikey! He is 2nd on Donnie’s list and my reasoning is well like I just said, I can think of at least one episode with just Donnie and Mikey, ex: Repo Mantis so that gives Mikey a leg up on Raph not to mention Mikey seems to appreciate Donnie’s inventions, gives out praise (I mean Mikey was proud of an empty sewer tunnel when the tank was stolen guys, and we all know how much Donnie craves praise), Mikey also seems to know how to get through to Donnie when he’s maybe being a bit obtuse *cough* parenting SHELLDON *cough* anyway to round off this extremely long and excessive post here is Donnie’s final ranking list

You made it to the end! Thank you if you read this long lol! Again these are just my opinion (save for the 2 canon rankings) of what seems the most likely in a favoritism listing! I understand if you disagree! These lists could easily be ordered differently if you prefer a certain brother dynamic (e.g. Disaster Twins, etc) I'm just on a ROTTMNT after the movie came out and when rewatching Lair Games I spotted that little sub line and couldn't get it out of my brain so enjoy this long winded post for what it is lmao.

You frowned as you looked at your reflection. The thoughts that you despised threatened to rear their ugly head before someone called you.

"Y/n! We're back!"

"We also have pizza!"

You shook your head, seemingly to get rid of the thoughts before they appeared and plaster a smile on your face. Walking out of the bathroom, you found your brother's bantering in the kitchen. Letting the smile fall to something more manageable, you walked in.

"Y/n!! My bestie!!"

Mikey called out to you joyously. Sitting down beside him, you smiled at him softly. He was like your twin....So why couldn't you tell him how you felt...? You gently shook your head to rid the thoughts that plagued your mind and gave him a smaller smile. "Hey Mikey..."

He smiled brightly at you before handing you a piece of pizza. "Here ya go! Eat up sib sib.", he said afterwards. Leaning against him you sighed, "Man. My dumbself forgot it was pizza night. Guess it's on me, the joke!", you said with a slight giggle, kind of forgetting where you were as you let the horrid thoughts come back.

Felling eyes on you, you looked up and saw Mikey staring at you with a sad expression. You sat back up quickly and gave him a wobbly smile. "I'll be back, hon. Alright? Just goin to get something!", you say getting up, not letting him utter out a word as you jogged to your room.

Pulling your hair, your eyes darted around. 'Why would I say that?! Now Mikey probably knows!!', you thought as you squeezed your eyes shut. Trying to fight off your tears, you shook your head as the nasty thoughts came back.

'Why would you do that?'

".....n?..."

'He probably already knew and just didn't say anything...'

.....

'Probably cause he hates you! I know I do!'

".../n...!"

'You are worthless! Honestly, I don't see how they put up with you..'

"Y.../N...!?"

'It would be better if you never even!!-'

"Y/N!!"

Hearing his shout, you breathed in a sigh as the thoughts finally stopped. Feeling hands grab yours, you let go of your hair and opened your eyes in surprise.

"....mikey....?"

You say softly, finally letting the tears fall as you outright sobbed. Your face scrunched up as you pulled against his hands. "Let go Mikey! I'm not worth this! Let go!", you say as you yank and pull.

You're stopped short, however when you're pulled into his plastron. "...Why...why would you think that?...", Mikey asked as he hugged you tightly. "..I...I....I'm so sorry mike...", you sobbed out as you kept trying to pull away.

"...I think you're pretty worth it y/n.."

You're eyes watered as they widened, letting fresh tears fall as you hugged him back.

"There there, y/n...I've got you, sib..."

And that you did. You both sat there for what seemed like hours, as you sobbed and he held you, gently shushing you.

Wiping your eyes, you pulled back from the hug with a soft frown. "I'm sorry mike...", you said softly ad you sniffled. He smiled slightly. "Y/n, you've got nothing to apologize for!..And I get it...I hope you know your thoughts are wrong about you...but I promise I'll help you see yourself in a better light! Okay?", Mikey said as he pat your shoulder.

"Just don't run off like that again! Otherwise you'll have Doctor Delicate Touch to deal with!", Mikey said playfully as he sniffled with a pout. You stared at him with wide eyes for a moment before chuckling and shaking your head.

You tackled him in hug with a giggle. "Sure Mikey.", you said as you pulled back. Wiping your eyes with a sniffle, you looked to see him getting up off the floor. Reaching a hand out to you, he smiled. "How's about we go eat? I know I'm starving!", Mikey said with a teasing grin.

Taking his hand with a soft laugh, he pulled you up with ease. Wrapping an arm around your brother, you sighed with a smile. "Sure mike-star.", you say with a grin as you begin to pull him in the direction of your doorway.

Stopping as he stood still, you looked back to see him staring at you with a worried stare. "What's up Mike? Tell me, hon.", you asked as you turned fully to face him.

"Promise to tell me if those thoughts come back?...Please?", Mikey said as he slightly pleaded with you, having a soft pout. Smiling, you pulled him into a tight hug, like he did to you earlier.

"I promise Mikey. I promise"

Twitter hosted another Q & A With Ron Corocillo, and he confirmed that Rise’s BEST chance is for us to keep up the love for it. Right now, the most important thing we can also do is buy the TMNT 40th Anniversary comic, the comic that has Andy Suriano’s Rise of the TMNT comic in it!

No joke, a series will ONLY ever come back if the fan base stays alive, if we invite more fans in and keep up the love. Even though Clone High didn’t do too well, it was brought back because a fan base sprang up out of nowhere on Tik Tok. Studios saw that that there was a demand and they gave in. Rise’s creators want to do more with it, and so does the cast!

In fact, it’s becoming apparent that Rise fans are the most vocal group supporting the 40th anniversary comic. Not just me, but also the image below, when I went to buy the comic and told the worker at the store that I was only there for one version, she said, “Ah, you’re here for Rise, huh.”

SO KEEP UP THE LOVE FOR THE SHOW AND SUPPORT THE COMIC! LET’S GET. IT. DONE! And stick it to those haters!
