I just started reading Republic Commando Order 66 & Ordo Skirata is my absolute favorite. All his scenes are so unintentionally funny. Like the dude intercepts a government spy tailing Besany, roasts him for being a pervert, hacks into his system, decides he's too dangerous to be left alive, shoots him in the cab in front of her, drives her home, offers to cook her favorite meal, realizes she's in shock cause he shot a guy in front her & is like "oh you're afraid of me" I'll get you coffee instead, then decides this is the right time to propose with an insanely valuable piece of jewelry that his sergeant stole from a bank, apologizes that he can't buy her something legit cause the army doesn't pay him & says "good glad that's sorted" when she accepts. Like WTF

I was thinking about how Dooku probably bankrolled most of the GAR & what would've happened if he had just told Palpatine to fuck off & the clones would've been the Separatist army... then I remembered Skirata vibes with Sep ideology & something clicked...Dooku & Vau would've been besties. Like two old rich cunts who use their money to change things they see as unfit, you can't tell me they wouldn'thave been the best frenemies (bc of course they'd get onneach other's nerves too). I want this What If now.

No bc wtf was the point. Just leave him alone in Legends. We made peace with what game devs had said would've been the plot of a second game post Imperial Commando & it was a good one: Sev joins the Rebellion, Delta squad go get him eventually & they all desert, THE END.

But noooo they had to drag him into a show he had nothing to do with, make him a straw villain and kill him! For fucking what? Like WHY??!!! Nobody wanted that. People who didn't play RepComm or read the books didn't know or care who he was and RepComm fans didn't get why tf his personality was completely different from that of the games & books. And don't give me that "it was the chip" osik bc no it fucking wasn't.

Cody and Wolffe were also Imperial officers, and they didn’t get completely mind wiped. Even Crosshair just became more severe, his core principles didn't change. But Scorch is somehow ok playing prison guard at a facility where they torture and experiment on troopers?!! No. Hell fucking no. He would never. The one time Scorch loses it in the books is when their barracks get attacked & he wants to get revenge *for his brothers*. Everything Delta & Omega do is out of loyalty for their vode. And sure Delta squad do some questionable things when ordered to (eg. robbing banks & killing Jedi). But aiding the clone torture program? No. They wouldn't. They hate Kaminoans for that, they wouldnt stay with the Empire if they knew that's how they treat clones. Especially if they suspect Skirata and the Nulls are running a happy colony of deserters in Mandalore. It just, it makes no sense, and it goes against everything the character was.

And then... on top of that.... they just waste him at the end of the show! They gave zero explanation for the change, he serves very little purpose (all he does is scare children & deliver bad news to Hemlock) and that could've been any Imperial Commando. Like literally anyone, Hilo or a no-name commando. It wouldn't have mattered. Why on earth would they bring him into canon for that?? WHYYYYYY

Like I love the Bad Batch but I hate what the writers did to Scorch. At least Tech had a good run in the show before they messed it up (and yes they did Tech dirty too) but Scorch was just character assassination all the way through... poor vod'ika. New canon can shove it.

A Meme Many Of Us Can Agree Upon.

Echo & Fives are just as chaotic as the Nulls and I love them bc of that. They would make Mereel & Jaing so proud

I see a lot of posts about Domino Twins causing chaos in the 501st and while that's awesome, it's also during a time where Fives is just a little rebellious and chaotic and Echo is basically the responsible one.

No, consider: Present Day AU where Fives is alive and joins the Clone Rebellion. Like, you cannot tell me that ARC Trooper "I almost foiled a galaxy-wide 5d chess masterplan of an insanely powerful evil space wizard" Fives and ARC Trooper "I am the Revolution, God himself cannot kill me and I know all of your search histories" Echo would not be menaces to society on an unprecedented scale of Domino Twins insanity. Dave Filoni tore them apart because they would be too powerful together after their character arcs.

Fives would team up with his twin brother shortly after their heartfelt reunion, remembering Echo as a by-the-book stickler for rules who is 95% of both Fives' damage and impulse control. And Fives comes up with a batshit plan to infiltrate a highly fortified imperial prison, puts his hand on Echo's shoulder and goes "Little brother, I know you're not going to like this but we're going to have to resort to drastic measures for this mission." And Echo looks him dead in the eyes, nods and goes "I agree. We're going to have to assassinate the Emperor."

And Fives just shoots Rex a slightly concerned, questioning look. Rex just shrugs. "The Bad Batch radicalized him."

Rex has no control over them. Fives is like "You know how you told us to not act on impulse and consult you about plans first?"

Rex's expression darkens. "What. did. you. do?" and Fives goes "okay so Echo hacked into the computer on Tarkins ship and pulled up the chat backups of him and Admiral Rampart- did you know the latter has a shrine for Echo's former squadmate Crosshair?- anyway, we published Tarkins plans for invasion and also the porn he downloaded on his datapad to the holonet and now the citizens are calling for his beheading."

Rex just looks at Echo like "you let him talk you into this?" and Fives goes "Huh? This was Echo's idea!"

Echo: The invasion plans were my idea. Fives added... the rest.

Fives: Oh, Echo we should probably tell him about the space horse.

Rex: The what-

Domino Twins.

RepComm characters learn everything from their training sergeant, holo dramas & books. Which is hilarious.

Ordo, one of the Null ARCs, shoots a government spy that had been following his gf right in front of her. And then he's like 'oh you're upset, let me cook you your favorite meal' and she's like 'no, you just killed a man, I can still smell his singed flesh, I'm not hungry' so he's like 'duh, of course. Let me make us some coffee. Also, what are your thoughts on marriage, here's a priceless ring my sergeant stole when we robbed a bank... sorry I couldn't get you something legit but clones don't get paid"

Also, they met when he was pretending to be another trooper she worked with, but she figures it out and does something that threatens to mess up their covert special ops mission, so he stuns her & they kidnap her & she starts working for them & it sounds insane but they're such a cute couple.

Do you think the clones had to take a “how to be a normal human being in society” class in order to somewhat be able to seem like normal in non military settings or do they just wing it and hope for the best?

Learning Mando'a... came across the word for field 'vhetin' and it rang a bell... in RepComm, Jaing mentions that Arla, Jango's sister, spells her name Vhett and that it's the correct spelling of the name, ie. the Mandalorian way of spelling it. Turns out, vhett means farmer and I now I just have this mental image of Jango and Boba in overalls chewing on a wheat stem...

About Sev & Delta squad, Traviss couldn't use them much in the Imperial Commando book because a second game was in development at the time.

Game developers said they were planning for Sev to join the Rebellion & have a reformed Delta squad meet up with him as Imperial Commandos but that game got canceled when the merge happened.

For reasons still unknown, Bad Batch writers added Scorch as a straw antagonist, then killed him for no reason. This effectively also killed off most possibilities that Delta squad as a whole will be seen again in canon, though other individual members Boss, Fixer & Sev could be seen in other media.

Personally, after what they did with Scorch in new canon, I don't want them touching Deltas with a ten ft. pole.

I was talking with one of my best friends about Star Wars characters being brought back and the possibility that Tech might return in a future work, and realized that even though TBB has ended, Star Wars has a really high track record of bringing back characters in other works, set after their supposed "death." Basically, no one ever comes back in the same movie/show/work they "died" in:

Maul: "died" in The Phantom Menace, brought back in The Clone Wars.

Gregor: "died" in The Clone Wars, brought back quite some time later in Rebels (and The Bad Batch, which comes first chronologically)

Echo: "died" in The Clone Wars, brought back SEVERAL YEARS LATER in the seventh season (I'm counting this as a separate show because it was not continuous - the show was revived)

Boba Fett: "died" in Return of the Jedi, brought back in The Mandalorian. DECADES LATER.

Asajj Ventress: "died" (died? like actually?) in Dark Disciple, brought back in The Bad Batch

Palpatine: somehow Palpatine returned

I feel like I'm missing some, but you get the point. The only ones I can think of who have died and come back in the same series are Ahsoka in Rebels and Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian.

There are also a couple characters whose fates have been left purposely open in order to have the possibility of bringing them back. Sev from Republic Commando is one who comes to mind. He is left behind in a war zone on a mission, and while Karen Traviss (author of the RepComm books) wanted to continue his story in a novel, Star Wars told her no because they wanted to keep plans open for Sev at a later time. We haven't gotten any additional Sev content yet, but his fate still isn't sealed.

Another is Mace Windu. I know George Lucas was like "he is dead for sure" but fans really want him back and so does Samuel L Jackson. I can see George changing his mind. Windu is a badass and beloved by fans. Another character who "fell," no body no death, and people are pretty adamant about getting him back because they liked him so much.

What I am trying to say is that Tech is a fan-favorite character whose story felt unfinished to many viewers. I'd say most of us were waiting every episode of season 3 for him to return, and the writers know that. Jennifer Corbett is on twitter and is very aware that "Tech Lives" is a huge thing in the Bad Batch fandom.

There are more animated works planned, as well: we know that Omega will likely appear again as an adult. There's like a 95% chance that a clone rebellion series is in the works, considering that they set it up in The Bad Batch. And Nika Futterman has hinted that Ventress will be appearing in future works. Tech could (and SHOULD) be brought back in any of these!

So yeah.... TECH LIVES

As much as I love Plo... if we're being real... none of them really cared because no Jedi ever lobbied the Senate to have troopers become citizens of the Republic with rights & agency. This goes especially for all the Jedi sitting on the High Council who had influence with the Chancellor & were friends with more than a few Senators. But like that was just never brought up as an issue, that we know. We can headcanon some Jedi might've brought it up and were shot down or couldn't get the Senate to pass the law (this is my personal Plo HC) but we've never actually been given anything concrete to suggest that the Jedi advocated for it at any point.

What's more concerning is that when they find out the entire army has behavioral chips implanted, their only concern is whether or not they are likely to malfunction. Let that sink in. Shaak Ti isn't appalled that the trooper's dedication & obedience could come from implanted chips rather than training. She's concerned about the cause of the malfunction. And once Palpatine assures the Council that his doctors neutralized the cause, they don't care that troopers still have implants in their head... Palps is like "let's put this nasty business behind us" and not one of them has the guts to stand up and say: hang on... we didn't draw the line at a genetically modified army because we were caught in a shit storm at Geonosis, but having fought alongside these men for 2 years, we can't condone implanted behavioral blockers especially when we don't know for sure exactly what they do... and also while we're at it, give these men health insurance & a pension for force's sake.

Like that to me is just... why didn't they... Traviss had a point vode, and she was writing within canon at a time where chips didn’t even exist yet... with the chips it's almost impossible to claim the Jedi were earnest about seeing troopers truly as individuals and equals when they knew their agency was being stripped from them.

The first time we see Yoda, leader of the Council, in tcw, he’s explicitly affirming the individuality and importance of the clones. He then teaches them how to connect to the Force, the most sacred tenet of the religion he’s dedicated his life to.

The first time we see Plo Koon, a Jedi Master, in tcw, he clearly tells his clone troopers that they are not expendable to him, and then proceeds to do his absolute best to save as many clones as possible.

The first time we see Anakin in tcw he has his clones fly an unnecessary suicide mission because he wants the glory of killing Grievous. He doesn’t even stop when he hears them all dying—his Padawan, a 14-year-old, has to yell at him that no one else will survive what he’s doing before he changes his plan.

And people STILL say that Anakin is the Jedi who cared about the clones the most. Seriously?

This Reminds Me Of When Boss Is Sick & Sev Complains Because He Can Hear Him Coughing Over Comms.

I've had a really miserable week. Cried a lot of tears. Lost a lot of sleep. Sickness is running through my home again. So, in light of that, have these little snippets from a sick fic I was working on as a gift. Featuring our favorite grumpy duo: Echo and Crosshair. Because they always make me feel better.

Sick of You

draft title bc it made me laugh

Echo pressed the back of his hand to Crosshair's forehead only for it to be slapped away with a grumble. He repressed a sigh at this ridiculous bundle of blankets on the bunk, instead sitting back in the chair to observe him.

Fever, congestion, body aches, stuffy nose. Average cold, nothing to worry about. However the rest of the batch had tasked him with watching over Crosshair while they went on the supply run. That might be the scariest mission Echo has ever taken on.

Amidst the mountain of blankets was Crosshair, bundled up and curled underneath at least four of them. Technically he should rearrange him, make him drink some water, get some hot food in his stomach, but it had been bad enough just getting him off to bed in the first place.

There was a ridiculous little pout to Crosshair's face that reminded Echo of a cadet. Grumpy from not feeling well coupled with being stuck in a confined space. Crosshair didn't do sick well, Echo realized. It was the first time he'd seen any of the batch sick and boy oh boy was it quite the introduction.

...

“Do you want me to tuck you in?” Echo asked with a grin. If looks could kill. Crosshair huffed irritably, folding his blankets tighter around himself and deliberately turning away from Echo. With a shake of his head Echo took pity, finally standing from his seat and giving a gentle pat to the grumpy bundle before making his way towards the cockpit. “Yell if you're dying." He was nearly all the way there before a muffled voice called out.

"You don't have to sit in the cockpit, ya know." It came out scratchy, stuffy, and Echo couldn't help but turn around to consider the man that had done everything but bite him in thanks for all the doting. Regardless, he easily took his seat at the bedside again, grabbing his datapad and leaning back.

“I'll be right here if you need me.” Echo assured. There were a few reports he could knock out while he kept watch. Truthfully he preferred to be in the same room as someone else but was simply surprised that Crosshair didn't want to hide for the duration of an illness. Maybe the silence would allow his prickly patient a nap. Echo would be able to go fix them something hot to drink and maybe coax Cross out of bed. There was this really simple soup recipe Fives used to love. The batch might be able to find some ingredients in town.

Crosshair let out a sneeze, face pinching as if he had a personal vendetta against it. If Crosshair could physically fight the common cold he might. He'd lose but he'd throw a few punches for sure. Echo let the datapad lay on his lap, still reading over the words in front of him, then absentmindedly smoothed his hand over the blankets.

“Shut up.” Crosshair muttered. How disgruntled could one man truly be over a cold? Over someone trying to care for him during that cold? He didn't remove his hand, just found Crosshair's shoulder to give it a good squeeze before continuing slow strokes over his arm.

"Didn't say anything." Echo continued to smile at his datapad, having to bite back a laugh at the glare being aimed at him.

"You're thinking it. I can hear you from here." Crosshair complained.
