Refugees - Tumblr Posts
Hello, my name is Abd Alhadi Aburass, and I am from Gaza Palestine 🍉 🇵🇸. I write to you today with a heavy heart💔, seeking hope and help. The ongoing conflict has put my family's life in grave danger🙏.
We have lost our home and my advocacy bureau , leaving us with nothing but the clothes on our backs. In search of safety, we have become refugees, fleeing to another city where we now face immense challenges. 🥹
My fundraising campaign vetted @mohammedalanqer
The war has torn apart our lives, and we are struggling to find stability in this new place. Basic necessities like food, clean water, and shelter are scarce. The trauma of the conflict weighs heavily on us, but we are determined to rebuild our lives and create a safer future for our children.🥲🥲
🍉🍉🍉
We need your support to get back on our feet. Your generous donations will go towards:
• Emergency Shelter: Helping us secure a safe place to live.
• Food and Water: Providing us with essential nutrition and clean water.
• Medical Care: Access to healthcare for our family, especially our children who have been deeply affected by the trauma.
• Education: Ensuring our children can continue their education and have a chance at a better future.
• Rebuilding Livelihoods: Helping us restart our business or find new means of income to become self-sufficient again.
Every Contribution Counts:
No amount is too small. Every dollar brings us one step closer to stability and a chance to rebuild our lives. Your support means the world to us during this dark time.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and generosity. Your support not only helps us materially but also gives us hope that better days are ahead.
Please share our story with your friends, family, and community. Together, we can overcome this hardship and start anew.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Abd Alhadi Abu ras and Family
Thank You 🙏♥️

Medo is a young man in Gaza who recently started caring for plants as a hobby. He shared this video on June 28.
His caption is "found me a new hobby!"
Before the genocide, Medo's Instagram focused on traveling, the gym, and time with friends. During high school, he was part of a student exchange program and lived for a year in Texas. He now shares scenes from his daily life as a displaced person in Gaza.

Medo shared this update on July 2. (The caption reads "Day 8🍉"). Since his first plant post, he has recieved comments suggesting plant care tips and asking about where he gets the plants. Medo gets his sprouts from his cousin, who it appears has created a green house tent for growing plants in the displacement camp.

I am BEGGING you to watch this movie
“His House is a 2020 horror thriller film written and directed by Remi Weekes from a story by Felicity Evans and Toby Venables. It stars Wunmi Mosaku, Sope Dirisu and Matt Smith. The film tells the story of a refugee couple from South Sudan, struggling to adjust to their new life in an English town that has an evil lurking beneath the surface.“
The movie “His House” by Remi Weekes is an incredible horror movie that is currently streaming on Netflix. It tells a terrifying and heart wrenching story whilst letting the horror drip in through not just a supernatural lens, but also showing us the real life horror of war and discrimination. It has amazing cinematography along with great writing and the realistic chemistry portrayed by the 2 protagonists.
I’m so upset this flew under the radar of most people; Including me! I didn’t even realize it existed until about a week ago. This movie has probably become one of my favorite horror movies ever and also my favorite movie of 2020(even including Soul). I can’t remember the last time a movie grabbed me by the hand, sat me down, turned my head and screamed “LOOK” at me whilst simultaneously making me almost shit myself with fear. What an incredible experience. And I mean: It has 100% on rotten tomatoes.
So PLEASE, I’m begging you to watch this movie. It’s available on Netflix right now.
Hey
My name is Calvin Phil. I'm a queer refugee originally from Uganda, but I'm currently living in a refugee camp called Gorom in South Sudan. I came across your profile and felt compelled to reach out, though I know it might feel a bit random. I’m really sorry for reaching out like this; it's embarrassing, and I hate to ask for help in this manner. I hope you understand.
I represent a group of fellow LGBTIQ refugees here, and we are facing some serious issues that I wanted to share with you in case you're able to help or know someone who can. We are currently in urgent need of support for survival. Many of us are starving, with no access to food or medication, and some are living with HIV/AIDS. The situation is extremely dire, and on top of that, we face daily persecution, as Sudan's laws against the LGBTIQ community are harsh and unforgiving.
Any support or help for our cause would mean the world to us in these desperate times. If you're unable to donate, sharing this with others would be immensely appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,
Calvin Phil

wow funny how that’s probably what the native americans were thinking when europeans immigrated and colonized america
but no you can give them illnesses they aren’t immune to and can kill them off by the thousands
and now you still feel spiritually offended when you’re supposed to say “happy holidays” because not every fucking person celebrates christmas
I have heard it said we are the uninvited.
We are the unwelcome.
We should take our misfortune elsewhere.
But I hear your mother's voice,
over the tide.
and she whispers in my ear,
"Oh, but if they saw, my darling.
Even half of what you have.
If only they saw.
They would say kinder things, surely.

Our World
I really want to say this because I thought this was important for everyone to know. We are all trapped in a fantasy. Where it’s great and we don’t worry about anything when we should be living in reality! Because of our decisions, we don’t have peace with some countries! Some of us have more than what others have and those people still stay positive. They hope that they’ll have what we have someday. Lately, I’ve opened my eyes to see what this world has become. And it’s not great. Nowadays people are being racist, polluting this planet, some only care for themselves and not the world. We all rely on ourselves and have lost trust with people because of bullying and others lying. Refugees from around the world hide from us because they’re scared we’ll do something bad to them. They just want to live normal lives like us but for some reason, we won’t let them. We all think that this world is great. That it’s developing more and more by the day, but it's not. It’s getting worse. People get bullied more often and commit suicide because of it. We pollute this planet every day by filling the air with toxins. We don’t do much to help our world. The earth. Us. We all need to start living in this reality and dealing with it. Helping it. Because this is our world now. And we have to fix it.

Please, don't ignore this message—your support can save the lives of many LGBTQIA+ refugees in desperate need.
As you may know, we are LGBTQIA+ individuals who fled our homes in search of safety here in South Sudan. Unfortunately, life hasn’t improved. We face daily persecution, and it’s even worse for those of us living with HIV/AIDS without access to proper medication. We struggle without clean water or enough food to eat. When we manage to eat today, we’re left worrying about tomorrow.
Life is slipping away, moment by moment. The ongoing civil war in South Sudan has only made things more dangerous for us, and resources are extremely limited. Right now, we rely on your donations for survival. Every bit of support helps, no matter how small or large.
We are urgently seeking your help. Please donate to this link and be the lifeline we so desperately need.

I recently had the great pleasure of drawing this poster for the You are here - Refugees Nürnberg project. It’s a brilliant project, aiming to make all the great music, art, film, theatre and events happening in Nürnberg more accessible to refugees through a multilingual website and Facebook page. I’m mega happy to be able to support such a great project with this poster campaign!
In May 1939, as the Nazis were tightening their chokehold on Europe, the United States government rejected the SS St. Louis, a German passenger vessel carrying 937 refugees who were trying to dock at the Port of Miami.
Almost all of those refugees were Jews fleeing violence in Germany and Eastern Europe, according to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. The ship was eventually forced to return to Europe, where 254 of its passengers were killed.
On Friday, to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day, a pair of Jewish scholars — Russel Neiss and Charlie Schwartz — started tweeting the names of the people who were aboard the SS St. Louis, under the handle @Stl_Manifest. Read more
