Last year one of these guys was bothering my friend, who is black, queer and has ADHD. I swear to god we spent the entire year asking for our coordinator to do something about it and all we got were excuses.
She would say is that he is autistic, lonely and needs friends to guide him. I was there with my undiagnosed autistic ass wanting to punch her.
My friend had evidence of the guy being racist and homophobic towards him, plus at least 10 girls had witnessed him being creepy towards them.
Yet my friend only managed to get a good response after talking to one of the few black coordinators. The guy didn’t even get that much of a punishment, they only moved him to another classroom.
Like I dont get how white autistic people get so many passes to be racist jackasses because ~*they just dont understand*~ and we have to hold their hands through understanding why saying slurs or dressing up as a nazi (ive seen this one first hand) is wrong but the minute a brown autistic person says "hey dont be racist" were accused of being ableist and get met with harassment like where is the patience for brown people on the spectrum answer quickly 🎤⏰

Reminder from someone with actual literal brain damage from a brain injury to stop fucking using "brain damage" and "brain injuries" as a means of describing someone whose opinions you don't like or deem as stupid.
It's ableist and offensive as fuck, and for some reason a lot of leftist people think it's okay to use. I've seen posts replying to right wing racists calling them "brain damaged if you believe this" and "do you have a brain injury? do you not understand X?". Just now I saw a beautiful post about fat people throughout history that was absolutely ruined by opening with "How do we break it to boomers with actual brain damage and nostalgic brainrot, and the 'tradwife' thirsting Andrew Tate fans..." before continuing to say that fat people existed throughout history.
Brain damage does not make you racist. A brain injury doesn't make you stupid, or fatphobic, or unaware of history and politics. Stop fucking using my disability as a catch all to describe people you think are shitty. Y'all use it like it's a replacement for how people used to use the R-slur, which shows you learned absolutely nothing about why the R-slur was wrong to use and decided to throw in other disabilities instead. Fuck off and stop doing it.
(And don't do it with other disabilities either, because I know y'all do.)
I know a lot of people with brain injuries. They're smart, and funny, and compassionate. They learn about the world and care about social issues and wish they could go to protests if their disability won't allow them to. Are there right wing people with brain injuries? Sure, absolutely. But they are not right wing because they have a brain injury, and using any disability as an insult is still fucking ableist.
Tldr - stop using brain damage and brain injury as an insult. It's ableist and incredibly offensive.

like i'm gonna be real-- this is not good. they can now frame the left as the violent and dangerous people that they've wanted to all this time. they can now actually claim to be the victims that they've been saying they are this whole time. they can use this as a mandate to crack down on everyone who opposes them. with biden already in freefall this is the galvanizing thing that will make those who were unsure about aligning with the democrats the motivation to swing to the republicans in droves. it will give the already united republicans the "moral" authority to condemn not only the elected officials in the democratic party but characterize the entire progressive movement as violent anarchists based on social media reactions. if we were cooked before, we've just entered the flash fryer.
I bring a sort of "actually mass traumatic events have an effect on the public's mental health and you're NOT acting in isolation from that trauma, and ignoring it doesn't make it go away" vibe to the party that Americans do not like

even if you're resigned that trump is going to win, 1/3 of the country lives in states with competitive senate elections. if democrats win the senate, there is very little that trump can do (can't even appoint supreme court nominees)
the following states all have competitive senate elections:
arizona
florida
maryland
michigan
montana
nevada
ohio
pennsylvania
texas
wisconsin
even if you don't think your state is competitive at all, THESE SENATE RACES STILL ARE, SO IF YOU LIVE IN ONE OF THESE STATES, MAKE SURE TO VOTE
and even if you don't live in one of those states, you could live in a competitive house seat. if democrats win the house, then trump can't pass any bills
and even if you don't live in a competitive state or district, your local elections matter even more than federal ones because they have a much more direct impact on your life

I want this timeline to be interesting for the RIGHT REASONS. Seriously. To me, fixing shit is a lot more interesting than fucking it all up. What's going on right now (with exception to that brat who killed two peaceful protesters because he's a bigoted racist brat that got raised by the wrong "parents"/enablers, and should be thrown in prison with the other murderers. For life. Natural life. None of this 30 year's equals a life sentence bull. He removed two people's lifes, he by that standard has forfeited his.)
But whats going on in the Capitol, and in the white house is what needs to happen, and if others see it as "boring" that's good! Politics should be boring. That means that things are working smoothly. But with the way media has become, those days of boring politics are a thing of the past. I just hope we got some wholesome times ahead of us. With space travel, bringing an end to systemic problems that have been plaguing this nation, and ending a pandemic that the previous "administration" (if it could be called that) did absolutely NOTHING about. They literally had no plan to care for the vaccine distribution. I'll stop here... Sorry for the long post.
