Okay I’m getting beyond fed up.

Yeah yeah it’s a free internet and all that jazz, but… b*ddie shippers need to STOP stealing shit from all of the other goddamn ships!

And I’m not talking about using a common trope that another ship has already used. That’s fair game.

I’m talking about specific ship moments for Bathena or Madney that they co-opt for their ship, thus stripping the original purpose of the scene OF ALL MEANING!

Like first of all, can you people STOP turning the Madney moment of Maddie first saying she thought Chim was cute into a b*ddie moment???? B*ck assumed she meant Edd*e because everywhere they go the chicks are hanging off of him, not because he is attracted to Edd*e!!! It was an adorable and sweet moment for Madney, the first hint of the perfection that was to come, and b*ddie shippers have to appropriate it because nothing matters except for their stupid-ass ship.

But more importantly, and the reason for this whole post…

I have seen no less than two different gifsets stealing Bobby’s “There’s that thing people say, ‘I don’t know what I’d do without you’” conversation with Athena and plastering it all over the scene of Edd*e getting shot.

And doing that literally strips that quotation of all meaning!

Like first of all, Bobby and Athena are married!!! They have committed to each other for life! B*ck and Edd*e are only friends! So stealing that scene adds something to the relationship that is straight up not there.

But more importantly, the reason that scene resonates so much with people is because of the context of these two characters. Bobby and Athena both lost their first love - the person they were going to spend the rest of their lives with. And what’s more, they both blamed themselves for it. After all, if Bobby hadn’t been consumed by his addiction, Marcy would still be alive. If Athena hadn’t told Emmett to take a detour on his way home, he would still be alive.

So for these two people, to be in that kind of situation that Bobby was in is a type of pain and horror that b*ddie could never understand. (and yes I understand that Edd*e has his own baggage when it comes to Shannon, but that still is a very different situation and also… doesn’t apply because the quotation is used from Buck’s perspective).

Bobby knows what it feels like to have a giant emptiness inside of him that used to be filled with love and companionship, and with every scream and every harsh thud he genuinely believed that Athena was being ripped away from him and that emptiness was going to return. And then that gunshot and the deafening sound of absolute silence… he genuinely thought he had lost her in that moment. He thought he was once again facing a future where he was alone.

And that entire conversation was foreshadowing for when Bobby got trapped in that building with Ethan. For all Athena knew, she was too late. She might have been walking through a burning building only to find his lifeless body. In that moment, she too was facing a future of once again feeling alone and unloved. The entire time she was walking through that building, she was dealing with the exact same sense of potential loss Bobby was during that ride in the engine.

They both had a moment where they were dancing on the precipice of the absolute agony of loss, and that conversation explains it perfectly. “I fell into that darkness, that misery, that grief once before. It still surrounds me, because you can never truly rise from that kind of loss. But you are my shining light that keeps the darkness at bay, and without you the darkness will just feel all the deeper.”

Meanwhile if you try to appropriate those words for B*ddie??? They are meaningless.

Instead of the layers of meaning and emotion they just mean “I thought you were going to die and I was scared.”

So not only are B*ddies stealing things from Madney and Bathena, they are literally stripping them of all context, all meaning, all depth, just so that they can stick their fave white boy’s faces on it.

And I am fucking DONE.
