i thought about how on the ninth wasn't a single eligible man or woman to marry harrow outside of ortus. and that marriage would have had procreation as a main goal. and then i remembered that john gaius got rid of notion of homophobia, sexism and transphobia in his empire. and then i thought about transwoman gideon.

I think a LOT about Pelleamena and Priamhark because imo them fucking during a child genocide is the most horrifying thing that happened in this whole series and thank Jod it was offscreen. I have intrusive thoughts about it. 

I’m also in awe of how their arc is a little Greek tragedy on its own. They make a terrible choice that a) gives Harrow incredible skill at necromancy and b) removes every companion except the one person whose blood could move that stone. If that wasn’t enough, they then proceed to create the exact conditions (abusing each girl in a way that turns them against the other) that cause Harrow to get Gideon’s blood on her very powerful hands, on a day where she’s suicidal enough to end the whole damn world. 

If they’d allowed the girls to be friendly instead of role modeling how to bully Gideon, they wouldn’t have fought; if they’d treated Harrow like a person instead of a tool burdened with the survival of the whole damn House, she wouldn’t have wanted to die; if they’d left a single other child alive Harrow wouldn’t have given Griddle the time of day. Hell, they could've waited five minutes to see whether opening the Tomb actually ended the world. But nope, at every single turn they made the Exact Wrong decision while trying to puppet fate and fashion death into a tool they could wield, and look who's the puppet tool now

pelleamena thinks that leaving necromatic traps around the drearbugh is good enrichment for ninth kids (she's not particularly wrong).
