little did she know, that the fox will end up being a huli-jing, and apparently will found her interesting enough to get stuck by her side.
since then, she had a fury of fur in all of her furniture, and a talkative woman with a liking of physical touch. it was just a week, and lan wangji already was questioning if it was a good decision helping this chaotic being. she knew the fox spirits were mischievous, chaotic and also believed by humans to be bad omens. but she couldn’t resist the sweet silver eyes looking at her and pleading to be her familiar, or the cuteness of a fox sleeping soundly by the feet of bed (she tried to make her sleep in the spare bed of the cottage, but every night wei ying changed to her fox form and ended up sleeping with her). so now she was cursed -or blessed- by an unwanted familiar!
“lan zhan! you didn’t tell me there were bunnies her!” wei ying yelled in the backyard. she was supposed to be watering the plants, but instead lan wangji found her excitedly catching her bunnies by the ears. the poor thing squirmed, trying to scape the grip. “we could have been eating meat all of this time!”
“wei ying will not eat bunnies.”
“but i’m a fox! i’m supposed to eat meat!” she pouted, eventually letting the bunny go in favor to go and hug lan wangji, caressing the ends of her hair and burying her face on lan wangji’s bosom.
“wei ying will not eat bunnies. if she’s hungry she can eat congee.”

wei ying ears flattened, and gave her a look that attempted to gain her sympathy. but she resisted, she was not a weak woman who would be bewitched by an evil being (she, pretty much, already was).

he recognized the feeling after the agonizing desperation: resignation. he was ready to go. after all, even in a world so big, there was no longer place for him in it. however, his silly heart still palpitated with the hope of his baby, his a-yuan to live. his traitorous imagination showed him how he would’ve grown, a young man with endless dreams, possibly a doctor as his ancestors; or a righteous cultivator, someone who upheld his own ideals in this cruel world. he imagined being there with him, watching his little radish being someone home, starting his own family, alongside with the wen.
as the corpses lost control and chase after their own master, he could only look at the sky: bright with stars, the full moon looking at him, almost tenderly, and it was like his body wasn’t shredded into pieces.
secretly, he always compared lan wangji to the moon: soothing, cold, but tender. funny that the last he saw was it, as he ascended with above.
