Mizu: Before I am a woman, I am a menace to society
Taigen: *Whips his head around* YOU'RE TELLING ME YOU'RE ACTUALLY A WOMAN?!?!
Mizu: Do you have a problem?-
Taigen: OH THANK THE GODS! Now I don't have to have a crisis about being attracted to a man.
Mizu: Wtf-
-
Young Mizu: But Swordfather, how did you know I was a social outcast?
Master Eiji: Child, if you weren't a social outcast, you would not have had to act like a rat and freeload at my house.
-
Akemi: *sobbing because of her failed engagement to Taigen*
Ringo: *trying to comfort her* Aw, well I'm sure you can find someone else like him.
Akemi: No, you don't understand. I'll never find someone like him.
Ringo: What was he like?
Akemi: Well, he was nice to me.
Ringo: You could buy a dog...???
Akemi: That's not helping.
Ringo: *Under his breath* At least a dog wouldn't celebrate your engagement at a brothel.
Akemi: What?
Ringo: What?
-
Taigen: I feel as if I've disappointed you.
Akemi: Oh, don't worry Taigen. You already disappoint me on the daily.
-
Mizu: Ringo, did you know that atoms don't touch each other? And since we're made out of atoms, I never actually committed murder?
Ringo: Master, you used a sword to stab people. Not your bare hands.
-
Shindo: Abijah, the man I met was no man. He was a monster.
Mizu: I have something crazy to say-
Fowler: Why tf did his ribs break like a woman then?

Meanwhile, at Master Eiji’s forge…
This is so out of character but it refused to leave my head.

These two mean so much to me.

What was even in that meteor? I’d love to see what she could do with one of these.

Super rough Mizu sketches. I’ve slowly been working on turning a few of them into full drawings but I can’t seem to focus on one project at a time…
Been rewatching Dragon Ball Z for some nostalgia. The rivalry between these two gives me Vegeta vs Goku vibes sometimes.

Bonus:

Happy belated Father’s Day to the Swordfather who stepped up!
Gonna get personal for a second: Blue Eye Samurai has a special place in my heart for a lot of reasons, but a big one is that Mizu’s and Master Eiji’s relationship reminds me a lot of the one I had with my grandpa. He became the father figure in my life after my dad left when I was two. He helped raise me, taught me how to do all kinds of things and would let me help with projects, from putting up a new mailbox to helping fix things at the car wash he owned. He was a role model, a best friend and made sure to always be there for me and guide me when I needed it. He passed away a couple years ago and it’s still hard to deal with that. But this show inspired me to get back into my art, which my grandpa always loved and encouraged me to pursue. So drawing for myself again has been a huge comfort and has helped tremendously. Especially all the BES fanart.
Anyway, lots of emotions went into these. This show, Mizu, Swordfather and their bond could not be more special to me.

I just needed to see little Mizu be held like Simba.
And Happy 30th anniversary month to The Lion King! I get to turn 30 the same year as my favorite Disney movie so I feel extra old 🥲.

Just little Mizu being a menace around the forge.

Mizu’s first day at Master Eiji’s forge, when Swordfather began to wonder what he got himself into.
Someone commented that I should draw them with the “Show me what you have!” “A knife!” Vine and I immediately did.

Turns out I had more BES/The Office crossovers in me. More to come!
