Ik Joaquin loved Maria (or at least he thought he did) and all, but if he REALLY loved her he would not have put her in a position where she felt obligated to be with him. That’s like grade A manipulation.

He’s played up to be a narcissistic muscle head, and I see where that comes in, but he clearly cares for both Manolo and Maria, and he proves that in the second half of the movie.

He’s just stupid and emotionally immature, but he’s a good boy.
