You slept soundly in his arms and in your unconscious state, failed to notice or feel his grip tighten. His head swirled with the sudden realization and dread that one day, you will die. Of course. It’s inevitable for all living beings, but for you. A human. Who was to say how long you really had in comparison to him.

Within less than a decade you would, without a doubt, pass away. And where does that leave him? Alone once again as Silver and Malleus mature and leave as well.

He hated getting negative, but was this really being negative, or being realistic? He will eventually be all alone, without his children, or the love of his life, to watch him fall into disrepair.

And while he is thankful none of you will witness him reach that point, he can’t deny how terrifying it is. He is an old man at heart, but that doesn’t mean all his years of life have prepared him for that moment of truth.
