John Adams - Tumblr Posts
just learned there's a 1976 pbs series called the adams chronicles and a few episodes feature his favorite person hambleton and his favorite person jeiffersan
the real tragedy isn't that we don't know for sure what the old white men looked like, it's that we don't know what their voices were like. "strong" "pleasing" okay bitch i want to know exactly how obnoxious adams sounded and i want to hear him read his own letters out loud like an audiobook so where do we go from here
happy independence dayđđđtheyre the real gay trio of the revolution to me . hamilton laurens and lafayette wish they were them
Do you have that one quote where Adams (?) was describing Hamilton as an ungrateful cat. That man always comes up with bangers
Hey anon, yes I do! I have a collection of unhinged John Adams quotes, it's amazing. The full quote is:
"Hamilton had no more gratitude than a Cat. if you give a hungry famished Cat, a Slice of meat, She will not accept it as a Gift: She will snatch it by Force, and express in her Countenance and Air, that She is under no obligation to you; that She has got it by her own Cunning and Activity, and that you are a fool for giving it to her."
#Hamilton first male victim to be accused of being catty and arrogant
It's an excerpt from a letter Adams wrote to the Boston Patriot in 1809. If I remember right, the entire thing is a fair bit of him defending himself (?), referring to things that "Adams" may or may not have done, and going over past events with Washington, Hamilton. Really airing out the dirty laundry I guess, 5 years after the man died.
Here's the link to the Founders Online full letter.
Some of his best Hamilton quotes come from after Hamilton's death when he can't shoot back, which I think is pathetic and amazing.

The teachers/staff, part one..
the ref sheets will be coming soon, but for now have some unfinished designs for b.franklin and j.adams (can you tell i just listened to 1776?)
the open letter to j.adams still happened in this au, but alexander published it via the newspaper club (which he was the president of at the time) and got in trouble for it immediately, so he had to step down jeje
the sponsor for the newspaper club (j. monroe) read thru the entire thing, went âhaha yeah he IS fat. This is so trueâ and then. Let them post it
The teachers will be incredibly unserious by the way, i hope you like the âthe adults are useless and stupidâ trope because a lot of it is coming
Speaking of, chapter 2 will be here soon >:)
I really donât think this work looks beautiful or even good but
âUgh georgie help me i hate ur son ham heâs just annoying ass im crying rnâ

draw how john adams would look like as a hamilton character in mirandas musical
he is played by andrew chappell!
Uhhh I've got a little bit, if you still care! Adams did actually live with Steuben for a little while, but he moved in with his older sister next, and then yk he erm, died in 1800. JAdams also kicked him out and completely disowned him when he split the two up. JMulligan served as Steuben's secretary until his death, and inherited his whole library. I think Adams was left something too, but I haven't read the will in a while. I don't know if this helps at all, but if it does, yay! I have seen some sites saying that Steuben was, like, romantically involved with both (considering the ages of the latters I'd find that a bit sketchy) But I really see it as more of a "omg my gay sons get over here" and not a "mmm hey bbg get over here." Idk tho! I also know that Abigail Adams was very concerned about the close relationship Charles and John had, and Im pretty sure JMulligan and CAdams lived together for most of their life, probably sparking her concern. Abs also frequently referenced her son to have correspondence with the devil, or be satanic, or something idk I haven't researched this in a while. Although this very possibly could just be referring to his alcohol use, there's always another probable possibility. *Wink wink*
So, uh, I haven't researched this in a WHILE but uh enjoy!!!
went down a research rabbit hole of potentially queer figures in early america last night (largely von steuben and co. but yk) and found out that hercules mulligan's son, john mulligan, and john adams son, charles adams, were maybe lovers ???? and part of the reason john adams threatened to disown charles was because of their relationship ???? which i just thought was a crazy piece of lore i had never heard before and if anyone has any information about that i'd love to hear it because all i could really find was "they lived together before jadams forced them to split up and then baron von steuben invited them to live with him, which only jmulligan accepted"
