Jason Grace They Could Never Make Me Hate You - Tumblr Posts
No one talks enough about the fact Jason was stabbed straight through the chest, like the sword went all the way through him and the wound started smoking, then it took multiple minutes I’m assuming to get him help and even then no one on that boat had any real medical experience, and then not even a few weeks later he dove into the ocean headfirst in the middle of a storm to help Percy with no real knowledge that he’d be able to 1. Breathe, and 2. Swim??? Like dude you are heavily injured, can not breathe under water, probably can’t move your arms without tugging at the HOLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH HIS CHEST CAVITY, and he STILL saved Percy’s life and had a heart to heart with him at the bottom of the ocean.
Get this guy a fucking award
Jason Grace and Legacies
there something to be said about Jason living to try and appease the gods, and him dying to try and change them.
something to be said about how he was raised to defend his fathers name and Camp Jupiters honor above all else, and died to protect his friends
who jason grace was raised to be and the legacy he chose to leave behind are two very different things
The two types of Jason defenders are so silly and both are right "Why do you hate jason he has so much trauma he is literally just such a sad guy and he doesn't even realize it bc he's so traumatized omg my poor baby why does he have so much trauma" And "Why do you hate jason he's just a guy, he's a silly little guy, such a silly mf, look how fluffy he is, he's just a fluffy little puppy, he's so cute and gorgeous, he has never done anything wrong"
this! this is why percy and jason are foils for each other! they aren’t meant to be compared and measured up against each other, but they’re basically two sides of the same coin, so to speak.
perceus means ‘destroyer’ and jason means ‘to heal’
jason was named such to appease the gods, and percy was named as such to defy the fates and give him hope for a happy ending in spite of what the gods may throw at him.
jason is malicious compliance, and percy is outright defiant to the system. jason has been part of the system forever and seeks to fix it from the inside, while percy is an outsider to the system and seeks to fix it outright, through full front opposition.
neither is wrong, it’s just that they reflect each other
it makes me wonder what json would’ve been like had he not been raised in a military setting from the age of 2

this is my favorite Jason moment of all time. We don’t often see a lot of his character in the books other than subtle undertones and this gives us a direct look inside his mind. Imagine you’re a demigod in New Rome, and everyone’s been hyping up this Jason guy. Jason Grace, the son of Jupiter and praetor of New Rome, the guy who makes and enforces the law, changed the way of living for all roman demigods. A leader and role model for all And then when you finally meet him he’s like “I chafe under the rules 😎”

I love them sm <3
Jason Grace temporarily commandeered all my braincells that's why there's so many sketches of him. I'll probably post some more soon :D

@via-pantomime behold :D thought you'd appreciate a ping
The Burning Maze HURT so bad, but honestly the tragic irony of Jason's character, the way he was raised to sacrifice everything and everyone in the name of the mission, in the name of the honor of the legion, but he died protecting the people he loved. He chose to protect and chose to leave behind a legacy which was nothing like what he'd been born into. He died into a world numb from sacrifice and made it better, made Apollo PROMISE to change.
He's Jason Grace. He's awesome. And he deserves the world. <3

Daily reminder that Jason was one of the few (maybe the only?) people to tell Leo that he was needed.

edit after a bit more research: GAEA AND JASON WERE THE ONLY ONES TO EVER TELL LEO HE WAS NEEDED!!!! AND YET YALL STILL DONT SEE HOW JASON CARED FOR LEO
I’m reading The Lost Hero for the first time and someone please tell me why everyone hates Jason Grace??
This boy is so wholesome. All he does is try his best with about 3kb’s of memory, constantly tell Leo and Piper how great they are, and stand up for people being bullied.
Get you a bestie like Jason tbh. He’s very sweet.
not gaia just violating jason like that omg

literally breaks my fckn heart to know Jason had plans. And good plans at that. Jumping between camps to keep them unified and friends. Literally constructing his own shrines and temples for minor gods to honor his promise to that minor goddess. All while still attending school so he can have a bright future. And we know he wanted to get married and have grandchildren and grow old one day. And you’re TELLING ME THAT ALL GOT TAKEN AWAY!? JUST LIKE THAT???!3?3?3
IM SAD AGAIN GOODBYE

Jason being the caregiver he never got for himself :(((
Jason being the good friend, trying his best to help his friend despite his underdeveloped emotional skills :(((((
Jason loving what few friends he had in New Rome despite living there his whole life, and most all of them seeing him as the Son of Jupiter and little else :(((((((
I keep thinking about Jason. Like, despite being raised into a litteral child soldier, this boy somehow grew up to be selfless and brave and caring and kind and sweet, and even a little funny too, even though he doesn't always mean to be? and it's just so endearing, and i just don't know where he got all this from? Clearly he didn't get it from Lupa and the wolves, nor from anyone in CJ (where, again, he was raised to be a child soldier), he definitly didn't learn to be gentle and kind from Zeus or Hera, and i doubt he could have gotten any of it from his mom, from what we know and what we've seen of her.
My best guess is, I think he's trying to be how he wished his caregivers were to him, growing up.
You’ve actually estrous me with that last sentence fjdjdjdbdjfjd 😭😭😭
You have a really good point!! Jason felt like the prophecy was inevitable died for it. But I also like to think, in a way, he also decided to take control of the prophecy to protect his friends. He succumbed to the cycle in a way that ignited change and hope for the future
it’s the way Apollo doesn’t believe prophecies condemn their heroes and that they act more like guides. it’s the way all of ToA is about breaking out of cycles/narratives, such as Frank and Hazel breaking their curses. it’s the way Zeus believes prophecies do condemn their heroes. it’s the way Jason did believe he was meant to die, for real, no way out. it’s the way he’s the only character to succumb to his narrative.
you’re so right op
where’s our Camp Jupiter side story/backstory shenanigans. where is it Rick. Where.
what happened in Jason’s freaking LIFE Rick. answer us Rick. Please
a little ramble but i’ve been reading this one authors works on ao3, and they’re going into more depth on jason growing up in the legion, how he would’ve been forced to exhibit his powers from such an early age when a lot of other demigods don’t start showing their power until they’re teens etc, (author is Leor_Ataraxia, they’re jasico stuff is great, idk if they have a tumblr). and it makes me so angry bc if rick cared at all he would’ve expounded on this and his memory’s of camp jupiter in general which so would’ve made jason more 3 dimensional / less flat of a character (not that i personally believe that, i’ve just seen a lot of ppl say that about jason). not that i want my son to go through anymore, he’s been through but it’s all very realistic of what his experience of camp jupiter was really like and explains a lot about him. i just wanna slam my head into a wall thinking about it

we as a society don’t talk enough about the fact that Jason mcfreaking Grace beat a TITAN in a round of FISTICUFFS. this man 1v1’d a titan and won.
jason grace backstory book when. uncle rick please. please uncle rick. this boy has been underappreciated and oversimplified by the fandom for too long.
he’s powerful. he hates conforming to the rules. living under the rules is all he’s ever known. he’s spiteful and yet, so so kind when it counts. he just wanted to be loved for him, not for his legacy or his worth to the legion. is that too much to ask uncle rick? is it?

here’s a quick sketch of Jason in his natural environment <3
can someone with a shred of artistic talent draw jason wearing a jumper/polo-shirt combo and sipping coffee in a french café, reading a book. please. this is real jason to me. this is who he was supposed to be. I don't have money but I will shower you with love and praise 🙏🙏🙏
