ok but at the start stede quite literally having a dream where he straight up murders izzy, because he most likely blamed him for influencing ed and everything he did during the events of season 1. he hated him so much because of that, that he had such a vivid dream involving his death by his hand. only for him to do nothing when they do meet face to face again, because he's accepted he's just as much to blame for what became of ed. and that izzy was already so beaten, but also so changed. and he could see just how much it hurt to have to do what he did to ed. it's just, um, yeah.
