okay, I have a thought about this. I think you’re right and they’re not going to address it in the show…
BUT WHAT IF THEY DID!?
Speaking from a purely self-indulgent, hypothetical place, wouldn’t it be interesting if the show took it there, but didn’t verbally or outrightly address it?
You know how in the trailers, there’s a scene where Louis takes a picture of Claudia on a motorcycle? This one:
And the fact that Louis obviously gets really into photography this season:
Well, what if, in 2022, he still has Claudia’s photo. And it gets brought up in the interview. And he shows it to Molloy. Daniel is glad to have a face to put to the name, but is otherwise, nonplussed about the whole thing. Then the camera pans down to show us, the audience, the photo. And it’s not Delainey or Bailey. It’s someone else.
A stranger.
But still, Claudia.
Idk that would just really fuck me up personally.
I like to think that neither bailey bass or delainey hayles are actually what claudia looked like, but rather the closest that louis’ memory can conjure. It’s already been established that some of his memories are completely fabricated at this point, and even he doesn’t fully realize. Maybe these are girls he’s seen in passing in the 2020s, maybe they’re just complete fabrications of his mind, but either way I think it would be a fun way to approach a casting change

i know lestat comes off like he doesn’t care any which way about claudia and there is a large fan interpretation that takes that at face value but I actually think lestat feels really deeply and intensely about claudia like it’s not only daughters who are haunted by their fathers, fathers are haunted by their daughters too

hmmmm okay so the first interview in San Fran took place in ‘73. Four years later would technically be ‘77. However, we know that the initial interview actually took place at the tail end of 1973 bc the “Spiro Agnew” resignation Daniel overhears on the TV was a real-life event that took place in October of that year. So, “maybe fours years” later would land perfectly around 1978…
Also!!! Remember Louis’ comment abt the Berkeley Barb in 2x05. Berkeley is a suburb of San Francisco, for those that don’t know.
Did Armand alter Daniel’s memory of Pompeii and change it to a setting Daniel would be more familiar/comfortable with? ORR what if the “beautiful boy” scene takes place in San Fran instead of Pompeii this time???
