This is a five-minute English-subtitled introduction to the life of a maiko (apprentice geisha) named Fukunae, who lives and works in Kyoto.
I found this little video refreshing and uplifting: as it’s made by a Japanese-international tourism agency in Kyoto, it treats Fukunae like a real, normal person pursuing her dream instead of the hokey “mystical mystery of mysterious Japan” angle you sometimes get with Western-made documentaries about geisha.

Honestly I vibe with this image, I have the memory of a gold fish and can forget stuff after 5 seconds.
