How I read the Silmarillion

*Opens book*

*reads the first pages* *doesn’t understand*

*goes back to the beginning*

*fails to understand*

*repeats this process through the entire book*

*finishes the book*

*reads the book again*

*understands more*

*reads the book again*

*understands more*

*reads other Tolkien books (like the Children of Húrin (reads that multiple times too))*

*waits a few months*

*decides to read book again*

*BAZOOKA MODE I UNDERSTAND THREE QUARTERS AND AM NOT READING THE CHAPTERS IN THE ORDER BECAUSE I WANT TO READ THE NIRNAETH ARNOEDIAD PART FIRST*

silmarillion tolkien books fantasy I love that book so much and I don’t even understand 100% of it it’s the places and some names because WHO TF CHANGES THEIR NAMES LIKE FIFTY TIMES LOOKING AT YOU TÚRIN asshole YOU MAKE THE WORST DECISIONS AND KILLED MY BABY BELEG I LOVE YOU THOUGH and also I find it very entertaining to see characters mess up more than I ever could (looking at you Fëanorians and Túrin)
