Here Are Four Works Of Art I Wish I Didn't Know The Existence Of

1. Princess X by Constantin Brâncuși
The sculptor insisted that his work nothing but the abstract bust of Marie Bonaparte -Yes, she was one of Napoleon's descendants!- and that this sculpture is ment to recreate Marie's posture every time she bent down to admire her reflection in the mirror, as well as the idea of femininity in its pure essence. Or at least how Brâncuși viewed it.

As you can expect, this statue was removed from the museum when it firstly became public, being refferred to as an erect penis by a lot of art critics.
2.L'Origine du Monde by Gustave Coubert
Gustave Coubert was already highly criticezed and labeled as a controversial artist even before this painting. The reason for this is because he really enjoyed painting nudes, and unlike other painters who used the common the human body is a form of art excuse so that they could paint as many naked women as possible, he didn't even try to hide his dirty mind and depicted a lot of women as provocative and sexually-appealing as he desired. Literally all of his nudes just scream male gaze.
But this was the moment when he crossed the line, for the mere fact that he really wanted to show people where do they come from by giving us a depiction of Eve from her good angle. Please, do acknowledge the fact that back then they didn't have Sex Education, so appreciate Coubert's hard work.
Also, there was a moment when a model recreated this... position in front of the painting back in 2014, in a museum with 42.000 visitors. She got arrested only after she finished her act.

3.Saint Peter with the Fish

The artist painted with his own sperm. Well, at least he didn't paint with someone else's. On one hand... yeah, he clearly used only one, which is equally impressive and gross. But hey, at least you're not one of those art critics who insisted to touch the cloth in order to figure out what sort of paint was used, so you don't have any sort of life regrets. 👍
