Hurricane Helene
So the area I live in did NOT get a lot of coverage at all... but the area still suffered A LOT, so here's some pictures just to show how widespread the damage is!

Please pray for everyone affected by the storm! They need it!!!

Hurricane Helpers Collaboration š§ļø
Ansy: Iām teaming up with my friend on IG, PKMN Professor Case, to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts in areas affected by recent storms.
Case: As Hurricane Milton approaches, weāre creating special thank-you art for anyone who contributes to our fundraiser to support those in need. Details coming soonāstay tuned for how you can help!
From both of us, thank you! & if you are/were in the path of either hurricane, stay safe. š©µ

& WEāRE LIVE!! Professor Case & I will be waiting for you at our Kofi pages (hereās mine, & hereās Caseās).
In case the screenshotās too blurry, leave a $5 donation on either of our Kofiās with the Pokemon youād like doodled as a āHurricane Helperā (with a rain coat, umbrella, splashing in puddles, etc) in the comment.
If you feel more comfortable donating directly to Greater Good Charities, just screenshot a confirmation of your donation along with the Pokemon you want š©µ
PLEASE leave any questions in the comments so I can quickly get back to you! Itās currently 8PM for us, so if I or Case donāt get to your Hurricane Helper tonight, we will tomorrow. Weāre gonna have this going for a week (so until next Wednesday).
LETāS DO THIS! āļø
āļø PS: Please donāt forget what Pokemon you want doodled in the comment! XD

Hurricane Helpers (day 1)

Well, day 1-ish lol - my friend Professor Case & I opened up our Hurricane Helper Collab to raise relief funds for Hurricanes Helene & Milton for the US southeast coast last night, buuuuut I only got a few done from how late it was, & poor Case was hunkering down from the storm, only getting power / connection back around afternoon today (sheās otherwise safe & sound, no worries! š©µ)
As of this day 1 1/2, these are the Hurricane Helpers Iāve made so far as thank-youās for donations:

The last two were a special treat, what with our favorite train twins living rent free in my head from DxP REWRITE lol (seriously theyāre showing up in my dreams).
Again, if youād like to participate, just visit either my Kofi or Professor Caseās Kofi, & comment the Pokemon youād like as a thank you with your donation (or if youād rather donate directly to our chosen charity, Greater Good Charities, just screenshot your donation & message us with your requested Pokemon!).
On behalf of both of us, weāre so grateful for the donations so far to help those affected by the hurricanes. No donation is too small - every penny is greatly appreciated (& you get a rainy doodle as a bonus!) š©µ
Thank you so, so much! š§ļø
PS: if youāre really hurting for cash & canāt donate (been there š„²), one very easy, free way to support us is just reblogging this post or the last ones I made! That way, the word spreads out to anyone who can afford it. Thank you! š©µš©µš©µ
Hurricane Helpers (day 2)

(lol this funny image has been stuck in my head through this, so Iāve decided to use it as a cover for these fundraiser updates!)
So many donations, so many PokĆ©mon! I only got a handful done today with work & errands, but there was a more actiony vibe as I thought āoh yeah, these guys are supposed to be helping in the hurricane lol (though moral support IS helpful!)ā. Weāve got a couple āmoral supportā PokĆ©mon, but also flood control & search / rescue:

Tomorrowās a day off, so I should be able to get more done! āš»

Hurricane Helpers (day 3)

Got quite a few done today! It helped that there were a few here that were either simpler, or Iāve had some practice drawing 8u8;
Iāve also been seeing more donors from here on Tumblr! Thanks to all who came over to support the hurricane relief effort! ^7^
Today we have some more search / rescue, some medical, supplies, our first electrical repair (gotta get power back!), a light in the storm, & someone to scrape out all the ice the Ice types have been making to stop the flooding lol:

Hurricane Helpers (day 4)

Got less done today than I wanted - turned out the washer we thought worked didnāt, so we had to work out alternative laundry plans lol. š„²

Weāre closing this fundraiser Wednesday, so if youād still like to donate / participate, read below! ^_^

Hurricane Helper (day 5)

Weāre almost through the week of this fundraiser, & this has been a wild ride, lemme tell you XD We got an advocate, emotional support plushes for kids in the storm, a bunch of Shinies, & more!

I was very happy to see Reshiram - they honestly donāt really need the rain gear (their Dragon type cancels out their Fire typeās weakness to Water), but I ended up giving them a little rain hood. Jumpluff was also nice - kind of like if Oddish could fly! >u<

Hurricane Helpers (day 6)

& Iāve FINALLY caught up! XāD Now I just have the most recent donations to doodle tomorrow, which is the last day for this fundraiser (get your donations in before then if you want a Hurricane Helper yourself!)

Hurricane Helpers (day 6 LAST)

AND WE ARE DONE!! \^0^/
Thank you all so, so much who donated, liked, &/or reblogged our Hurricane Helper fundraiser. While weāre still waiting on Professor Caseās final number, on my end weād raised $500+ for Greater Good Charities! I can only think of how many people that would help. 8u8
This last batch of Hurricane Helpers turned out to be almost all red-toned for some reason (also I got so, so many Fire-types working in the rain through this lol? XD) Enjoy, & once again, thank you!! š©µš§ļø

more than ever thankful for my beautiful home, my close-knit community, and the thriving land that my feet are so used to walking on.
an outside perspective may never agree but i see the beauty of my upbringing.
i am hurt for all of the hurt around me but i am happy to stand as a united front with my neighbors to bring as much aid to one another as we can.
this is appalachia. this is community. this is loving each other.
stay safe and reach out, there is always someone who can help.
a new day comes, the water falls a little further. a new day comes, a family is reunited. a new day comes, and appalachia still stands strong.
Not my meme but figured I'd share for those about to ride out the storm
Edit bc I'm seeing a lot of confused international reblogs: this was posted because of Hurricane Milton absolutely demolishing Florida this week after Helene went through and because US insurance agencies are kind of assholes. Stay safe out there and thanks for signal boosting!

Saying this right here, right now.
If you are celebrating that Helene caused catastrophic damage in the Appalachian mountains, based on the mountains being filled with "sundown towns" unfollow me. Right fucking now.

You sound ignorant, dumb and are proving you are just as bad as the fucking MAGA right wing bigots you claim to despise.
The Appalachian mountains are filled with incredibly far left people. There is the occasional town where there are more right leaning folk. I will not deny that. However there are many cities there that are incredibly diverse. Not only that, but diversity is not the only thing that dictates how left an area is.
The people of Appalachia have been routinely fucked over multiple times, until all that is left there is the rich people within their mansions, and the poor, struggling to survive. They did not have the infrastructure to withstand this storm, they didn't have the money to leave.
THEIR BOSSES WERE TELLING THEM TO STAY AT WORK UNTIL THE FLOODING GOT SO BAD THEY LOST THEIR LIVES WHILE THEIR BOSSES FLED.
This is my home, my family lives here, on the North Carolinian border. My family was from Banner Elk, I go there every year. I go to Linville to hike the falls, I go to Asheville and Boone for the witchy shops and the coffee shops. I was going to go this October for the breweries doing a mock Octoberfest.
This place was where people looked after others no matter their religion, skin color, gender or sexual identity. To sit here and post on Tiktok, Tumblr, Instagram or WHEREVER, that these people fucking DESERVED THIS, that it was KARMIC JUSTICE, and that they deserve the lack of aid they're receiving proves that you're a fucking wannabe leftist, but actually an authoritarian shitstain that doesn't deserve to lick the fucking gum on the bottom of my shoe.
Leftism is about COMMUNITY. About the whole of humanity helping the Earth and the Earth helping us. It's about helping your neighbor down the street, or that homeless man that says some weird shit. It's about giving a sandwich to Crackhead Jimmy at the gas station because he looked a bit more thin today. It's volunteer work, and community outreach. It's building a better tomorrow through helping people today.
If you are saying these people deserved this? That they deserved their homes, their livelihoods, their grandparents, aunts/uncles, parents, children, nieces/nephews, cousins, dogs, cats, horses and pets to be fucking swept away, to not know if they are ALIVE OR DEAD, if they will ever be found, To be HOMELESS.... Then you are not a leftist, you are a nazi in disguise.
If that bothers you? Good. You need it then. Be bothered, because your lack of empathy towards people who are suffering from poverty and a lack of infrastructure tells me that you're a shitty leftist and a shitty human being.
If you're wanting to do any sort of outreach, American Red Cross and other organizations will be able to help.
Donate, volunteer, do whatever you can in any amount you can. The damage is horrific, and the fact of the matter is over 1,000 people are missing and 100 are dead. I'm a weather nerd, and I know this is taboo to say, but this is genuine.... This is the Appalachian Katrina. Most of these places will never recover, as tourism is their main or only source of income.
The trauma from this event alone, regarding the lack of infrastructure, the casualties, and the missing persons will be catastrophic, and wreak havoc on the families there for generations to come.
Hoping everyone is safe from Hurricane Milton ā¤ļø my thoughts and prayers for you all
an important message!!
As hurricane season comes, I just wanted to raise some awareness for hurricane Milton and Helene! It is extremely important that if you can help raise money or awareness of any sort, please do! As many people suffer from damages, death, and rebuilding expenses, it is very crucial they have some type of outside help! If you, family members, friends or anyone in general you know can send money, please do!
https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/nam/
Thank you, and I pray everyone can make it out alive and are able to continue their lives after this tragedy struck!

Please share around help the people in Asheville
posting here because this just doesnāt feel right to talk about in the horseimagebarn voice but this is extremely important to talk about.

my partner and i have returned to our hometown to stay with her family and my own has gotten a hotel here too (they moved to the town we currently live in after we did) so we are all safe and out of the thick of it
however there are tens of thousands of people who are not both in my own town and in the many surrounding it. appalachia will take an extremely long time to recover from this and there are more storms on the way. all i see on social media right now is people asking for shelter because their homes have been destroyed, or people asking for help searching for family members who are missing. hundreds of trees have fallen. hundreds of homes have flooded. roads are literally falling apart. preexisting sinkholes due to shitty pipes are opening up and consuming land. dams are on the verge of bursting and the only way to stop it is to release water so quickly it floods whole towns. all but one of our cell towers are down, so only people with at&t have service and the rest canāt contact anyone. over half the town still doesnāt have power. a major water supply issue occurred and the entire town is on a water boil order with no electricity to boil with. people are trapped in their homes and workplaces or out on the street because they have nowhere to go. law enforcement is blocking off roads but trapping people in the process. people have to be rescued by helicopter. our animal shelter has no water or power and boarding facilities have been flooded. entire villages like chimney rock nc are gone, and entire cities like asheville are cut off from the rest of the state and are completely inaccessible. ALL OF THE ROADS IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA ARE CLOSED. 400+ roads are closed because they are unsafe . that is INSANE!!!

when people say that climate change isnāt real, they donāt know what theyāre talking about. climate change and its father capitalism are only going to continue to worsen lives in every way possible. i live in the mountains and our infrastructure is completely unprepared to handle hurricanes and itās only going to get worse. itās such a strange and eye-opening experience to live something like this when you think that it could never happen to you because that type of weather shouldnāt reach you in your environment. climate change doesnāt care where you live. itās real.

western north carolina and the rest of the southeast that has been hit by helene need help. more people need to be talking about this so that the government DOES SOMETHING because the government historically fucking hates appalachia and it still does!!! the major state institution near me took DAYS to respond despite being the only place in town with power and wifi connection because they had to wait for the state to approve their responseāthey could have allowed thousands of people to evacuate days prior to the hurricane hitting us but they didnāt do anything before or after until it was too late!!! itās bullshit!!! PLEASE get talking about this because something has to be done. climate change is going to continue happening and our mountains and the people in them are going to suffer immensely. hundreds if not thousands are now homeless. please talk about this look at the footage online of the wreckage and look how quickly our infrastructure crumbled. we need better. the people of appalachia deserve better.

iāll get back to posting horses soon. but for now this is a lot. my friends are homeless and my family had to get off the mountain or be trapped there without power and water for days. weāre all safe but exhausted. i hope everyone who has been affected by this is staying safe. if you are in western nc, dm me. when i come back, if youāre in my area, im happy to bring supplies. stay safe everyone
appalachia is devastated. towns i loved, towns i visited all the time, are gone. not damaged, GONE. they are leveled to the ground. there is nothing left but rubble and ruin. people are dead. appalachia is poor to begin with and relies on tourism for a lot of its income, and multiple of those tourist locations are just...gone.
my town is okay, but it's flooded and wrecked. trees are blocking all but one way out of our neighborhood. power lines are hanging limp in the roads. we've been without power for over 24 hours and will continue to be without power for likely another 24+. disabled people and poor people are GOING to die from this. gods save appalachia.
Appalachians need help.
hi everyone. i don't usually make posts like this, but as some of you may know, much of my home state of nc was recently torn up by hurricane helene, especially our beautiful mountains. entire towns have been washed away, there is no internet or phone service, and roads are badly damaged. i've heard that there's currently only one route for the entire region to evacuate through. this is one of the poorest regions of america. mountain towns like these are not equipped to deal with this kind of extreme weather, and moutain flooding can happen quickly and without warning. i grew up going to appalachia, it is very near and dear to my heart, and the people there are some of the kindest and most genuine souls. it is a truly beautiful part of our country, and it is so often forgotten. i know a lot of people are suffering in the south after this storm, and i hope we keep all of them in our thoughts, but please do not forget about appalachia/wnc.
if you're able to, please consider donating to hurricane helene relief:

they'll fund a genocide and let their poor regions be destroyed. don't fucking forgive them for that.
my hometown is completely gone from what pictures i can find of it, i have not heard from my family (including aunts, uncles, parents, one sibling, and a grandparent), and the infrastructure in the mountain communities is wiped out. i cannot stress how catastrophic this is, or how difficult it will be for these communities to build back. i am angry, and scared, and heartbroken by everything that's happened.
and our government is spending it's money to fund a genocide.
free palestine, and don't be complicit. realize that this is not something happening that doesn't affect you--although it shouldn't take this to care about the deaths of thousands of people anyway.
