We’re reading catcher in the rye, and literally all of our discussions in class is bout how depressed and suicidal Holden is, but I’m like mood??? Like is this not normal behavior???

Aveva delle orchidee appuntate sul vestito, come se venisse da un ricevimento o non so che. Era sulla quarantina, forse quarantacinque, ma era ancora molto bella. A me le donne fanno morire. There are such conflicting feelings on The Catcher in the Rye, but honestly what’s so bad about it?
People be like: Holden is such an asshole and he’s so whiny
Like did we even read the same book??? Everything Holden does is because he’s a mentally ill teen who’s trying to deal with everything on his own. It’s literally one of the only times I’ve truly seen myself in aspects of Holden that I didn’t even know were there. He’s a well written character WHO HAS FLAWS.
Like literally; failing school because he has no motivation since he’s depressed? mood. Wanting to call someone but then convincing himself not to call anyone because they might reject him and that would hurt? mood.

I will wholeheartedly die on the hill that Holden Caulfield and Ponyboy Curtis would be best friends.
Hating the catcher in the rye because it make me feel all the that emotions I want to forget :/
